    LOOK folks just because your in dep, dose not mean your in the navy, you take your first oath at meps, when you go back to meps for ship out date you take a second oath,,.my advise is that if you are not sure this is what you want ,do not go,call your recruiter and tell them, they want be happy but legally not a thing they can do about it, also dont let them talk you into going in without contract for a a school

    • @iselaserr
      @iselaserr Год назад +1

      What do you mean a contract without a school?

    • @jessieball6195
      @jessieball6195 Год назад +3

      @@iselaserr meaning, decide on what job you want to go to Navy school for beforehand, and then get your recruiter to "get it in writing" that you will be guaranteed to attend that particular Navy "A" school immediately after completion of boot camp. If you don't have a guaranteed school assignment before you attend boot camp, the Navy can/might send you anywhere they want after boot camp-depending on "the Needs of the Navy"-which usually entails sea duty.

    When I joined the USAF 40 years ago in DEP program, the recruiter never kept in touch and nothing was ever mentioned as months and months went by. Often the ship day came I heard and the recruit was no where to be found.

    I have a close friend who passed away and she was going the same MOS as me in the Navy. I’m afraid of being DEP discharged due to wanting that MOS only. I’ve got to do it for her, yknow? Do you think they would discharge me instead of waiting for a spot to open if it isn’t already?

    • @faithwagner
      @faithwagner  Год назад

      Not too sure if the Navy is the same for the AF but they will discharge you after a certain period of time. That being said, I know people who have waited up to a year for the job they wanted. Very sorry for your loss and hope that you get the MOS you want💙

      I went in 2004. They used to call us fgts, pssys, mfers, all kinds of shit. Get in your face and you'd smell what they had for breakfast and how many cigarettes they'd smoked. You guys have stress cards. Battlestations is a contained evolution- not a shitshow that you run all over the base from 1600-0800. I don't know. We used to beat each other till someone urinated blood. No face shots. Roll up rat tails, snap, and break the skin. Most recent of what I've seen is lots obese kids with cell phones streaming shit on TikTok, and people who have mental breakdowns when yelled at. We are truly done for.

    3:35 - I've never, ever, heard of someone shipping out directly from MEPS. At MEPS you're taking all kinds of medical examinations, interviews (the ones where your recruiter tells you to always answer "no" to the questions) as well as the ASVAB. That stuff takes time to process. You're not shipping out directly from your MEPS facility.
    You'll get a call from your recruiter like a week or a month later telling you that you're getting on a bus. Some exceptions for this are for high school seniors, 17+, who get a chance to go to basic training during the summer when they are 17/18 before their senior year of school. They'll finish their last year of high school, and ship directly to a unit. Many times during this type of DEP, after completing basic and still being in high school, they'll temporarily get attached to local Reserve/Guard (USA/USAF) units where they are exempted from the "2 weeks a year" training (because they're still in school.
    In fact you're actually going to have to go back to MEPS in order to talk to the phase 2 recruiters who will tell you how you scored on the ASVAB, select your MOS (at least in the Army), select your preferred duty stations from an available list, discuss initial commitment term (2, 4, 6 years depending on job), and bonuses (if any) for that job/term combination.

      I didn't mean it as a literal straight out of MEPS, I meant it more as like a week or so after the initial MEPS date. Should've elaborated on that more in the video. My bad

If you csn stick out and blow of the bullshit and stay in for 20 years you can retire in your 30s or 40s depending on your age. Good fucking deal. And when you retire you get checks and you get to keep your benefits

      @@echo_94 As someone who HAS retired after serving 20 years in the Navy, I can say that NO ONE should make a decision like that so early-ESPECIALLY at the very start of your Navy journey. Learn your job, see the world, and experience the life of a sailor while living in the present-you will have plenty of time to consider all your options at the proper time.
