Quickly Convert an Image into a 3D Model: Maya 2022

  • Hi Creators,
    In a previous speed sculpt, I created a Halloween theme lamp. Subscribers asked how I created those details so quickly. In this video tutorial, I go over the fancy Maya tool called Convert Texture to Geometry. I will also cover the pros and limitations of the tool. It's a fun tutorial so let's get started!

    Before this I used to use SVG from illustrator in order to create complex shapes..now i know another method to create complex shapes ..Thank you mam❤️

    That's a cool tool, and I saw that in the new Maya you can auto-retopologize just to clean the mesh; or maybe bring to zbrush and zremesh it

    I used to trace the outlines of my complexe model in CorelDraw or Illustrator then, I export the outlines in .EPS and finally I import it in my Maya Scene as a Nurbs...

    This is neat. Do you have a tutorial on getting good quad topology from an extruded logo without having to create it from scratch via quad draw?

      If you're using the latest versions, defining hard edges and using the remesh/retopologize will do that in no time

    Need to use JPEG format and not PNG for this one , only works with jpg :)

    Hi, so I've used this method quite a few times which I find it to be the easiest for turning a black and white image into a 3d model. However, after I've remove the background of the image and extrude it, which was what I wanted to do, every time I save the project and come back, the faces go all over the place and creates a mess. Idk if anyone else has that issue but it's so frustrating💀

    for whatever reason i cant seem to get this to work. I have no clue why. I reset settings, tried to make my png both black or white, scaled up the resolution, still nothing :(

    Is it smooth or not? If not so can we use this in project without smooth?.. and it's triangle so can we use this also?

    Unfortunately this is something not new. Isn't a trace image like other software. I prefer svg. And i hope for future development of a real tool for this.

    Just Import an image as a Png in a lamburt material texture and it will save you From all these efforts
