I have terrible side to side head tremor, never seen anyone else ..... ever with this. But I try to think I'm lucky it's nothing worse and more detrimental like you said. But being a recluse and depressed is hard
@@deransanchez3162i have it too in the head😢 i dont think u will ever see a person live who has it too. As i know from 100.000 people 1 of them has a head tremor.
I feel like crying. I thought I was losing my mind. It’s so good to have people talking about it. I was recently diagnosed but I’ve had it forever. I just turned 24 last month. It recently became more difficult to function with it. I feel the internal tremors more often but I never talk about them cause it sounds crazy. Thank you so much, Shakey Nan 🥺❤️
Hey Esther I feel the same way I’m 24 years old guy here I’ve been called anywhere from a alcoholic to why the fuck are you so nervous what’s wrong with you No one really gets it unless you get it I work in low voltage electrical work so always need to use my hands and getting over the lumps of embarrassment took a long time. Just want you to know your an amazing woman ❤ and your never alone I hope life gets easier for you and if not you will just grow stronger and stronger throughout it:)
I have ET in my head and vocal cords (and a little bit in my hands which is getting worse as I age - I'm now 62). While it is very embarrassing, I have opted to live life fully. I find that people are generally polite and ignore it. There are the occasional people who ask about it, but I don't let it upset me and just explain what it is. It's a very irritating condition, for sure, but we all are burdened with something living on this mudball. Thank you for your video.
I noticed this happening after I turned 40. I start nodding uncontrollably when trying to focus on someone talking. And when the doctor looks in my ears my head starts to shake. Now sure how to go about getting tested for it. Have a great shaky day!!
My experience has seen these things: There isn't any real "test" for ET, just a lot of questions the Dr asks. They might do an MRI on your head, to make sure. God to a neurologist, tho. Generally, family practice drs don't know much about it - unless they read up on it on your behalf. These are things that I have experienced, and everybody is different....
I have ET and beta blockers are working, without the medication I don't think I could live a normal life. I feel out of control when have tremors and can't function properly. Does anyone else feel like this?
They work very minimally for me. Propranolol, primidone, Lyrica, and colonopin.. Only thing that really helps is alcohol. But it's way worse when I come down. Mine is in my head BTW.
Before I started medication I was very uncomfortable with the tremors . My shaking started around age 65 with tremor in the hands and head. When I was nervous or stressed my whole body would shake uncontrollably. I couldn’t function very well and this was the reason I went to my doctor. They started me on Primidone which didn’t do much. Then I was put on Gabapentin for nerve pain and it did work within a couple of days. It seems the combination of the two seizure drugs canceled the tremors. If I go off one or the other they start up again and as bad as ever. My tolerance for stress is very low and any sustained stress can set me back a few days.
I have essential tremor. I had the DBS surgery and it worked great. No more head bob, shaky hands, etc. I am able to pick up a glass of H2O without spilling it, thread a needle, feed myself, etc.. Very pleased with results. I feel like I have my life back.
Many thanks for sharing, there was a fellow Engineer this afternoon at the local pub who broke into an uncontrollable shaking. For a moment I was concerned that they might be experiencing a stroke but then the symptoms settled down. Being concerned I decided to look it up as I've never seen anything like that outside of friends who had Epilepsy. However this was much more violent. It seemed to trigger when they held a glass and walked resulting in the glass contents going everywhere, but other than that once they settled down, all was well. Someone monitored them and the rest of us gave them some space as they were rather embarrassed. Thankfully they settled down and all was well, however I was wondering if I should have called an ambulance. There hands constantly shake, so then I read about Essential Tremor and from watching your kindly shared video am pretty confident they must have ET as they also get slightly shaky voice every now and then. Appreciate you sharing and hey were all different and no one is perfect, better that everyone knows and we all learn to simply work with it.
I have had an essential tremor for a long time. Just recently diagnosed with two types of tremors. I've been struggling with with and meeting new people. Thanking you for sharing. It's quite difficult as people assume that you're cold or something is wrong:(
i have had essential tremors since i was very young. i remember getting up for breakfast before school and having to hold cups with both hands to avoid spilling. At 37 years old, shaking is getting worse, anxiety has went from being only a mental thing to effecting me physically. ive only had 3 relationsships my entire adult life because it also effects my sex life. I am tired of feeling like this
I have it too. Yes, it is embarrassing but…I think about all the blessings I do have and I choose to be grateful. There have been more concentration on Essential tremor the past few years. Hang on. The sun is breaking through your clouds.
Why is this poor lady not on medication for her tremors? I find medications do damp down the worst of it however even these may not work well for some people. Tremors can start up when your too cold, when your nervous about a new situation, or you’ve missed your meds. I hope they find better drugs that work all the time, not just some of the time. I see they are doing some drug trials like Prax 944 which is awaiting approval to market it,but will it work for everyone.
Some people can't take the medication, I am one of those people . My ET tremors have been bad most of my life, now I am lot older they have really gotten bad, but I just try to live with it, as their is no cure. I do get frustrated at times when they are bad! I am 68 and had them all my life.
Hi guys I feel your shake...been shaking since in my 20's now 53.. after a series of bad car accidents as a passenger..no less...mine are more head side to side movements.. constantly have to explain why I'm saying no to everyone..also have been noticing..short term memory is almost non existent. Has progressively gotten worse...I have watched movies many times over not remembering that I have already seen them... So many other symptoms.
Mine is the same. A constant "no". Had 2 had traumas my Dr assumes is why medicine helps very little. Alcohol helps ALOT..... until I come back down then it's worse😢
I was born with ET. Both my hands shake, and my right leg, along with my head. I am 68 . The older I have gotten, the worse it gets. My younger years only my hands shook.
Trying to find more information on vocal tremors. Always embarrassed because people think I'm nervous. I hate the way my voice sounds. Making phone calls is the worst.
Thank you for showing and sharing this. I have recently developed tremors in my neck, torso, and head which look and sound very similar. So this is helping figure out what's happening
Mine happens at rest. Early morning hours when I’m sleeping. Not been getting much sleep. Yesterday was started after lunch and last all day and night. It wore me out.
So my hands constantly shake, but when I get nervous, it gets 10 times worse and it’s not just my hands at that point it’s basically my body. Would that be tremors?
It's very common for someone with essential tremor to see their shake progress when they get nervous. Any kind of stress actually exacerbates the tremor and many experience tremor in their torso and internally. When you have an alcoholic drink does it tend to calm your tremor at all? We see this also with essential tremor.
@@EssentialTremorIETF I take propranolol, primidone, Lyrica, and colonopin...... but alcohol is the only thing that stops it, and makes me feel normal

Same. In my head, but I still play my guitar. Mine are bad too. If it's in your head what prevents you from playing guitar??
