I stand with the life guards. Their own Department is awesome
It should be merit based and not politically appointed.
Mayor going to pick someone who can't swim
The mayor gonna choose Mufi or Hanabusa
No Hanabusa is making too much money she will not take it.
These Life Guards are smart and have eyes wide open.
I’ve seen this happen many times. When a new administration comes in favors have to be repaid and they give jobs to unqualified people. I have watched it happen here on the island and I have watched it happen on the mainland. I stand with the lifeguards .
It makes sense to me. I don’t see any other group of people game to swim into the big waves… dlnr wouldn’t do it, fire department miiiiggght help but they lack the swimming abilities due to lack of training putting their lives at risk.
Give the lifeguards their own department because they are irreplaceable to Hawai’i
This men and women risk there lives saving lives and this government like screw them over like this??? NO CAN...
There not screwing them over..
We stand behind Lieutenant Mitch Buchanan. We want Mitch, not this Mayor appointed jerk, Matt Brody 🤙🏼
The commissions are BS. Zero accountability back to the public. Kealoha was chosen by the Police Commission. Maui has both police and fire commissions that hire chiefs. It works for BWS where the commission is actually in charge of rates and budget as well. Ocean Safety should have a Mayor appointed director. Just like Environmental Services, Parks, etc. otherwise, why even have a Mayor?
Why have a Mayor? Many cities have a city council and city director. No mayor necessary.
@@guyfaux5010 Yes. Usually called a City/County Manager. That person hires/fires the other managers. City Council hires/fires the manager. Still no need commissions
No! The mayor is too corrupt to appoint anyone, if he's the one appointing it will only be his friends that has no business being in charge of life guards.
Now, Honolulu public employees are dictating who they will work for. May I please remind them that they work for the public? If there is a mechanism in government to fill certain positions, and they don't care for it, then they can gather support to make the changes to the system of appointment. Or maybe they can pick their own boss. What a great world that would be!
They evan get gangs in the ocean im not joking oahu is foreal
mega t3rrorist.. oh! u said ben guieterez (guess Im hearing things) 😂
If you are paid by the state your boss is the mayor . Is the system the issue or the rulings of this mayor ? Personally thought ridiculous for armed police guarding mayor's office . Seems someone does not play well with others .
That's not true. If you get paid by the state your boss is the governor. That green guy.
@kawikadee9670 mayor runs city departments . Governor answers to federal government and asks federally what state needs in support and funding . Perfect example Governor is always dealing with federal funding for Maui's fire victims .
@@user-xl7kx7bi3l Yeah but the city pays their own employees not the same fund as the state, but you are right the mayor does run the city departments. 🤙🏽
@@kawikadee9670 have a great day !!!
@@user-xl7kx7bi3l You too man. 🙂
