Premier's beats sound more like NY Hip Hop than most NYC producers. He's considered #1 citywide. Which is crazy because he's from Texas.
Yeah a Houston guy originally but he definitely helped create that NY boom bap sound of the 90s
Living in Crooklyn helped him a lot also. Not taking nothing from Texas because it’ has tough neighborhoods to but Crooklyn is in a world by itself especially back in the 80’s/90’s. I think living there gave him something that helped him create that gritty jazzy boom bap sound he is known for.
Quite possibly the greatest producer of all time...I can't believe people rejected these

He’s really secretive with his beats and his beatmaking process. Very few videos showing him putting a beat together.
I did not know Nas turned down what came to be the Waiting for the World to End beat. As much as I love Nas, I’m thankful Rakim got a hold of it to craft one of his dopest joints ever. It’s one of Primo’s best too. Never get tired of that absolute classic track.🔊🤌🏼

Yeah it ended up with the right person in the end. Rakim and Premier have done done great tracks together.
I never heard about that beat being for NAS before, but after going back and listening to the Rakim track it 100% sounds like a NAS beat, even the way Rakim flows on it
Nas turned down the 50 cent beat "many men" aswell.. could hear nas on that beat.

I didn't know that beat for a Bumpy song "Part Of My Life" was originaly for Charlie Baltimore. This is one of my favourite Bumpy's tracks, and favourte beat by Preemo.
So in other words Preemo couldn't break the being late stereotype LOL!!

As a beatmaker myself who has sold some mount of beats I find this video inspiring that sometimes when some artists don't use your beats it's because it may not match 100% with their style or what they are looking for exactly that moment, but it doesn't mean that the beat is bad because another great artist might use it

I love preemz but I can see why some of those beats got passed on. Some of those didn’t live up the gold standard that Preemz is known for. Not to say they were trash, but would you rather have silver or gold?

Everything isn’t for everyone that’s what I was told when I was in an office at Def jam when I was 18 they said just because one artist doesn’t like it doesn’t mean another won’t and allways play the beats that you don’t like because those are the ones that get selected
