    That "Seven Minutes of Funk" bassline gets me every time. I personally think its best usage is in an 80's hip hop joint - "Its My Thing" by EPMD.
    Thanks for introducing me to some tracks I've never heard before like "Rich Kind of Poverty" by the super soulful Sam & Dave And some that I have and love to death like "The Show is Over". What a sample flip by QDIII.

      @stephendriver1814 I thought they were meaning the drums. It’s hard to match the 12 bit sampler sound of the 90s that has that crunchy sound to it.

      This is simply not true. Some of the best hitting drums I’ve heard were on Tyler the Creators latest album. Also, Kendrick’s Savor has some of the best drums you’ll ever hear.

    2:40 I think "Seven Minutes of Funk" was either first sampled or rerecorded in 1979 for Grandmaster Flash/Younger Generation's "Superrappin'/We Rap More Mellow".

    Early 90s hip hop, what an era. One bassline I've always loved is the one in Underwater Rimes by Digital Underground, that's a beauty. Black Sheep's The Choice Is Yours too, that one's great.

      @@DJFurio yeah definitely. I was listening to NWA when I was 12 1990, my Dad stormed into my room and snapped my cassette in half (I was using headphones at the time 😵‍💫) and then it was my parents mission to find rap music with no profanity! 🤣🤣

      Mainly because it’s not a sample. The melody has been copied to sound similar to the Club Nouveau track.

    Souls of Mischief - Let 'Em Know was a sick bass line. That song slaps you in the face with a bassline from the first second of the track and is the funky lifeblood of that song.

    Sample wise on Bass, Beatminerz take it for me. Although not samples, Erick Sermon has some of the best basslines though in the 90s. His basslines on Muddy Waters alone are unrivalled.

    yo these r dope but i was wondering what the beats are that u use in-between the showcasing of the samples? i noticed one sounded like it uses the same sample as cream and the other as whats the difference

    Bomb the Bass sampled the DJ Food track Dark Lady, which sampled the Flora Purim track as the bass needed an extra note to loop correctly, which DJ Food added to it
