What was your favorite Target Audience REACTION moment of Star Trek TNG Season 2?
Measure of a Man Alex crying... and Alex missquoting "Boldly go where no one has gone before, and there it sits!" lol
Ya'll's reaction to Q in "Q Who?" was by far the best for me.
Guys getting emotional about a toaster
Something I realized about the war games episode of riker vs picard that picard has the equipment advantage with the enterprise, riker actually has the crew advantage as he gets to hand pick the best of the enterprise minus Data. From command at the top to the non-commission ranks he gets to pick the best and leaves Picard with Data and who ever he doesn't take. Which i think makes it a lot more even than it would otherwise appear.
Q who? Shut up kid. Baby borgs. What is That? Saving ur life! Send in the clones. Now quote me some klingon poetry. Computer level two. Fire all phasers. That is life. I bustedem up.
After all this good stuff , how could S3 get any better?
I appreciate the fact that your "clip show" was better that theirs.
lol
Love that you guys have just done your own version of “Shades of Gray.” 😂
We are also seeing the transformation of Alex into Cousin Itt.
😂
I fully clicked not knowing it was
A CLIP SHOW!!!
“Shades of Whiskey”
ALEX, SOMETHING'S GOT ME!
7:18 The appreciation of O'Brien is great, and makes me look forward to many good times to come.
Soon they will encounter the true greatest character of them all, Mr Broccoli!
@@handsolo1209*Thanks a whole bunch. **_I had forgotten._*
Oh my God! It's the Target Audience clip show! 😉
It's like watching Trek for the first time watching with you two. So entertaining. Now I have to get my a$$ up and do some freakin chores. Looking forward to Season 3.
The music at the end is great! The makers did a great job!
6:47 Voight-Kampff test. Troi is a secret Blade Runner.
Not to get too sentimental, but besides my mom, y'all are the only other people I've watched (rewatched?) this with and it's completely changed the way I see these episodes. You're right! It gets so much more crap than it deserves. I'm really excited to "rewatch" it through y'alls eyes lol.
Avoiding the episode titles is more useful than it would seem on instinct. A few titles point to a big plot point, and many of the Q appearances ( so far ) have his name in the title ( high amount of spoilerage ).
Did y’all not notice the young actor in Peak Performance when Wesley pretends to check on his science project from the Enterprise and then said it’s ruined so he could sneak it back to the Hathaway….the red headed ensign guarding him. He’s a character actor in a shitload of movies these days.
I remember him most from "24"
Excellent work gentlemen.
Well, while the bar was set low, still a much better lookback than the last episode of Season 2. Thanks for the video, can't wait for Season 3 to start. Have a great day.
I have to choose the feels on Measure of a Man, both to Picard's speech and to the Riker/Data talk at the end.
you're gonna love the next few seasons. some of Trek's greatest episodes of all time are coming up.
I have a hunch they will get more O'Brien & Worf. Maybe enough to satisfy them. Can't wait to see their take on Garak.
Slow Down...
When you find out about all the drama behind the scenes , plus the chaos in the industry as a whole, we should give thanks for every episode of season two, even the bad ones, even up the long ladder, even shades of gray, EVEN the forgotten episode of Frakes hosting the first ever original Pilot for the original series “The Cage”…… if not for every single one of them TNG would NOT have been able to fulfill their minimum number of episodes, avoiding the possibility that TNG could have been cancelled LIKELY killing off the entire Franchise …. No season 3-7 of TNG, no DS9, no Voyager, Enterprise, TNG movies, reboot movies, disco, SNW, picard, lower decks, or that other Cartoon series for kiddies
The desk clerk in the Royale was played by Sam Anderson - he was Bernard on LOST - great character actor.
"So It's Come to This, the -Simpsons- Target Audience First Ever Clip Show."
I know everyone's on board with the "season 1 and 2 are horrible" narrative, but I'll just say this - top 3 of the worst TNG episodes are NOT in those seasons. I would love to see the entire series tier list when you guys are done with TNG.
True. And there are at least two Top 20 episodes in there as well
Measure of a Man is easily on the TNG Mt. Rushmore. Concept, execution, and impact on the series marks it as a defining episode of the series.
@@MrJerks93Mount Knuckmore?
@@Smeginator You seem like a well cultured friend of DeSoto.
Seasons 3-4 are excellent, and Seasons 5-6 are still pretty good. But Season 7 . . . yeah, I don't consider it any better than the first two seasons, despite the higher production value. There's one episode in particular (you know which one) that might be TNG's equivalent to "Spock's Brain," and I'd even rather watch that farce than "Genesis."
That guy at the check-in desk ... I recall seeing him in other stuff, but the only one I can remember off the top of my head at the moment is in one episode ("Through a Lens Darkly") of a weird, obscure, 1-season (cancelled after that, but had at least some semblance of a conclusion) series from the mid 90s called "Nowhere Man". I wonder what you guys would think of that show. It was a bizarre paranoid mix of The Prisoner and Twilight Zone with a dash of X-Files and some other things. Definitiely not for everyone (hence the 1-season run, I guess). The main actor in it (Bruce Greenwood) went on to portray Captain Pike in the JJ Abrams re-boot Star Trek movie, btw.
He’s also in the Angel spinoff of Buffy, playing one of the law firm partners.
I do think that the dislike of season 2 is from people who went back after seeing what the franchise became. I remember as a young lad in Australia the series didn't really have a home so it'd be shown at random times and out of order in repeats. Usually in the middle of the night. This was before the internet so I'd tape it and watch it after school. I had no way of knowing which season it came from so each episode was viewed as its own thing so when I rewatch them now I have good memories of both season 1 and 2. Just dismissing them both means you miss some pretty vital episodes that introduce villains like the Borg and concepts like the holodecks. There's a lot of good stuff in those first seasons.
Absolutely love this supercut!
Can't wait for you guys to respond to S-3!
Excellent channel, I'm enjoying your reactions and commentary. Pretty funny and interesting perspectives from both of you.
Onward to Star Trek: TNG Season 3.
Cheers! ☺
Good Review! Can't Wait for Season 3!
23:45 worked it out a quarter century faster than me.
4:18 Shades of (bleeeeeep). I gotta go number 2 now, excuse me.
Admiral Data reminds me that in 1784, Anglican priest John Wesley ordained two bishops for the Methodists in America.
🤣 I didn't catch the Baby Borg on the back joke the first time.😂😂
Love watching you all react to seeing these for the first time. I agree, Season 2 has some really good episodes. I won't spoil anything about Season 3, looking forward to seeing you react to it.
I think those that dismiss season 2 forget how many key episodes are in season 2.
Really only one specifically. The other one could be removed all together and it wouldn’t change anything.Tapestry will still be Tapestry without season 2. Reunion would be the same without season 2. In fact, I would argue it would be better without it.
@@brucechmiel7964I can think of three others without thinking too hard about it but I won’t post spoilers.
@@r.j.sullivan2104 now you got me thinking here. What are those other three?
@@brucechmiel7964I’m not sure how to answer that in a forum that doesn’t want spoilers posted. 😀
Let me try it this way.

Plot threads from season 2 pick up in S3 ep 26, and s4 ep 7, and a significant Data centric plot thread and character gets picked up in one of the new Trek shows.
EDIT: I just realized you referenced one of these but in spite of your argument the story began in S2.
6:48 ahh, the inspiration of Shades Of Grey!! Hey guys, i have an idea on on we can do that last show.
So what we had during the original run was the first season, then the first season repeated twice in reruns before the second season. Same thing for each new season. If you want to experience this show the way we did, and develop a deep hate for some episodes, just watch each season three times before moving on to the next. And no, there was nothing better to do as a teenager on a Monday night in South Florida back in the '80s.
Season 2 is the most under-rated series, and series 7 the most over-rated series of TNG. This is not to say Season 7 is bad; there are some excellent stories in it, some of the best even, but the other ones just drag it down to me. Season 2, yes, it has some bad episodes, has some excellent ones, and unlike many, I appreciate what they were trying to do with Pulaski. I didn't know she was hated until years later.
Id start with the part where she comes off as a total bitch from start to finish. And by the time Maurice Hurley figured out what to do with her, the season wrapped and he was off the show along with the character.
TNG ends with a "clip show" and Alex & Josh follow suit.
We always said season 2 was better than season 1. But by your own rankings, 7 were rated D and 2 rated E and just a handful with the top ratings. As good as the season's best were, later seasons are even better and more consistent.
For the love of O'Brien!
Clip show. On to season three!
Rickers dads sport suit reminded me of bad Tron cosplay, but with red highlights... Forshadowing his cheating?
Season 2 suffered from a writers strike at the time so they dusted off an old 70's script intended for the cancelled reboot 'Star Trek phase 2' and updated it for TNG - 'The Child'. The oft-derided Shades of Gray was apparently the clip show used to sell TNG to foreign TV markets, so it had its uses.
I would be great to have a character tier lis per season as well as an episode tier list.
I tended to poo-poo season 1 and 2, but rewatching with you guys forces some of us long-time watchers to reevaluate the episodes we generally deem “skippable” (though some certainly remain skippable!)
Seasons 1-2 of TNG together make for one really good season of Star Trek. You just have to cut out about half of the episodes to get there.
you guys are going to LOVE DS9
So... You both got that brain virus Riker picked up? 😂
Wait... You guys got end theme music now? ORIGINAL end theme music?
I love you guys, I love your channel but did you guys just finish the season with a clip episode? Lol
chug that firewater lol
Two is largely well! Only a couple clunkers...
I recall in your previous video a minor spoiler you'dread about. It wasnt me! 😇.😋 I won't say when it happens, hope nobody does, and you'd notice when anyway.
Wheres the next episode
Wait, isn't this Shades Of Grey part 2??
2 weeks until season 3?
I know you are watching already but some of us only have that YT subscription level money.
shakes fist
is this a clip show? 😂
not judging js
Did I just watch a clip show?!?!
JFC.....
Season two isn't good but it's a quantum leap better than season one which was almost universally dreadful . Some of my favourite TNG episodes are in season two and by season three they pretty well had it down. My Favourites are "Where Silence has Lease", "Q Who", "A Matter of Honour" "The Emissary", "The Measure of a Man" and "Peak Performance". I enjoyed "Samaritan Snare", "The Icarus Factor" "Pen Pals" " Loud as a whisper", "The Child".
Gotta say Unnatural Selection, The Dauphin, The Royale, The Clip show , Time squared, Up the Long Ladder and Man Hunt are pretty tough to watch a second time.
Is it good, you keep asking for another doctor
you should have done this instead of a reaction to shades of grey.
You a little emotional there? Yep, Data can do that to a person.
Modern Measure of a Man Update! There's a new definition for sentience that some people are trying to push through where anything that reacts to outside stimulus is to be considered "self aware" which means if you kick a rock and it rolls away - it is sentient.
All the Seasons are great. Don't listen to the nay sayers.💕🖖
I'm curious as to how you would rank the six seasons of Star Trek you've watched so far. TNG Season 2 would probably be the worst for me, despite some good episodes sprinkled in there. I just can't abide Dr. Pulaski's tomfoolery. A very close second would be TOS Season 3 with its goofy plots and cheap sets. TNG Season 1 and TAS land at about the same place on the next tier, though Dr. Crusher and Tasha Yar might give Next Gen the edge. Seasons 1 and 2 of TOS remain unmatched, and they will stay that way until . . . well, you'll see next month. 😉
I know Season 2 gets a lot of flak. However, my least favorite season was 7. Compared to season 7, season 2 was passable.
Of course season 2 was good, or the show would have been canceled.
It just pales in comparison to seasons 3-6.
I always liked Pulaski over Beverly. I know, im a heretic.
talk about boobs gene get outta here omg you guys funny af
How DARE you post a clips video!
More correctly, TNG's second season is the weakest. If you guys enjoyed it so much, you're gonna be blown away by what's to come.
So, they hated the Original series, but think season 2 of Next Gen is good...no ret*rdation, here. 😂
We deeply love TOS???? Are you ok?
