      +DullTorpedoFilms I'm 32 and a Pistons fan but I can honestly say I think it was one of the best teams ever and truly underrated. Insane defense, some teams couldn't even bring the ball up the court on Hunter and Mike James our BACKUP PG's. And Rasheed and Billups could do anything on O. And Tay was great all around and Rip moving without the ball non stop.

    This Pistons team was the Greatest Defensive Team of the 2000s! Bar None! The 2008 Celtics team comes after! Ben Wallace was the heart of this team's defense but Tyshaun Prince was so underrated! He complimented Big Ben so well! Tyshaun made elite scorers like Kobe & T-Mac work for their 20+ pts & sometimes he held them below that! He gave them hell!

    This is how champions are won. Now teams just want to stack on talent and get the easy win. LAZY players. Score 50 but let me see them play a FULL 48 MINUTES of hard nosed defense. No matter what players you have, if everyone is on the same page on defense, you'll win.

    • @jrthegoatsmith712
      @jrthegoatsmith712 5 лет назад +9

      Richard Alcala The rules completely favor the offense, and make it nearly impossible for players to play defense. Only the most elite defenders of today are able to adjust to those rules: Kawhi Leonard, Andre Roberson, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Klay Thompson, Jimmy Butler, Robert Covington, Tony Snell. And Detroit was actually pretty deep when they won the Championship in 2004. They had Lindsay Hunter, Mike James, Mehmet Okur, and Campbell in the second unit.

The players now have all the skills and athleticism in the world, but unless you can play against a defensive team like this, you're not a complete player in my eyes.

    Some thoughts:
    1. That hustle!
    2. Playing against the Pistons in this game would have been just demoralizing. They were hammering and hammering way beyond what was necessary. But this was Game 1 in a playoff series and this energy essentially decided the outcome of the rest of it.
    3. Basically all those steals were clean, and all those offensive fouls were legit. Nice to see! Sure, Ben might have started falling a little even before he was hit, but his feet were planted and the Bucks players made forward contact... that's a charge. This Pistons team knew how to play the game right without trying to get away with stuff by acting or playing underhanded, which is all too rare. Sure, they were aggressive and The Palace was a nightmare to play at in those days - Detroit fans can be rabid - but this was the Pistons' MO.
    4. I'll always be salty about the Pistons getting Darko Milicic this year and not getting D-Wade, Chris Bosh, or 'Mello (or LeBron, which was in the cards). Can you even imagine!? Biggest disappointment ever.
    5. George Blaha is such a legend.

    This team idc what anyone says, was so fun to watch. Like it made you, the fan so appreciative of a team playing defense. You don’t see that, ever! Except with this one and only team!!!

    I'm hoping the current bucks team looks at what this team did and becomes more defense oriented. They could dominate the league in a few years imo

    everyone probably thinks of the spurs, lakers, heat over the past 15 years but i'd say the 2004 pistons or 2008 celtics could potentially shut any of them down due to superior DEFENSE.

      I've always said this would have been the team that would shut down Steph because they're the only team since the early 90s that pressed for 48 minutes. Hard to get any flow when your possession starts with 16 seconds on the clock

      Karl Tanner, the FOOKIN LEGEND the Spurs were among the best defensive teams in the league every year during that time also dumbass. The spurs were always either 1, 2 or 3 in defensive field goal efficiency.
