Watching this video was SO much better than the live feed where we had to sit and wait for track cleanup about a hundred times as the Honda's were puking themselves with almost every run. Granted those little buggers are FAST!! But they seem to be pushing them too hard so they grenade a lot. @@7275vrt We have secondary 60v electrical systems going into production cars now(for like 6 or 7 years at this point I think), which has enabled LEGITIMATE electric superchargers & electric turbochargers(they still have a turbine too), these have been showing up in production for a couple years now. I'm wondering if this eventually makes the leap to this sort of racing. There's also some real time active shocks(a version of Multimatic's spool valve shocks) that are running on this 60v standard too. Lots of trick stuff going on in the OEM world, I just wonder if it's really going to be able to catch on to any meaningful degree in [non-OEM level] racing. EFI took a long time to really catch on, so did turbocharging, adopting something like a secondary electrical system for HP making purposes is probably going to 'offend the sensibilities' of a LOT of hot rodders lol.
There's also the possibility of a purpose built hybrid(like a Tesla motor tied into a TH400 or something?) system being made for drag racing, stuff like that, but that'll take someone really committing a LOT of time and money without a guarantee of success or a market(and potentially struggling to find classes to race in, who knows how promoters would handle it). Nevermind how politics has someone become intertwined with literally vehicle propulsion systems... (no one thinks that "cordless power tools are for snowflakes" or anything, even though they're basically a miniature EV drivetrain lol, even a lot of the hardcore pneumatic guys have given up the fight, lithium power tools are so damn good)
There's a WHOOOOLE lot more potential with where technology is going - if people are willing to go against what's 'traditional' and 'politically correct'(for conservatives I guess; tired of both sides trying to dictate technology TBH...)

People hating on the promoters for sticking Mullet in such a fast class know very little about drag racing. He shot himself in the foot by putting a SMX engine in a car without a full chassis and a big tire. You can't fairly pit him in the slower class with people running OEM cast engines, but he gets his butt handed to him in the faster class. The winner of the class Mullet is in even has a stock OEM cast block, but a big tire and a full chassis. It's tough to win this event unless you build a car specifically for the class.

John totally got him off the line. He had to get out of it to avoid that wall and still got a 5.81 and 243 mph! Not bad for an NPK car that heavier than that radial car. Good to see Radial cars and NPK cars making their moves in other faucets.

    • @phillyphil1513

yeah technically John got 'em but the FLIP SLIDE to that coin is John almost got himself "smoked" by an Import had they actually run head up.😀 that Melendez/Natty Racing/2JZ combo was devastating all weekend.
