I have heard that they will fold only one way, but mine fold both ways. I know they are authentic, they were purchased new in California around 20 years ago, before the model name was printed on the arm, these are the 'Erected' all acetate model. Perhaps a better way would be to check for the Zeiss logo on the lens in models after 2008.
