Dudeee Thankyou so much! I’m about 100 hours into ASA, I’m also a completely new player to the series. I wanted to try my hand at breeding and was SUPER overwhelmed trying to juggle stats alone. I’ve watched probably 4-5 vids on “breeding guides” and I genuinely mean this, your video was the only one that made sense. You should teach blind people to see man, honestly so well done. Thanks again my guy! Sub locked in for sure.
I’ve never heard of this game but now this video has started me down an hours long rabbit hole. These games looks like everything I love in a game. I’m so excited to start these after Christmas. I was just here looking for a heads up in the indigo disk elite 4, found this video and now I’m 8 videos deep into this game and the other one and I forgot that I left my switch on in the other room lol.
That was explained SO well! I've never FULLY grasped the information on ASE being tutorials but I believe I understood everything you've said here. I'm going to look, but if you haven't done an ASE breeding tutorial, that would be so appreciated!
Honestly i agree I wish some people would actually explain like this seems so informative anyone can easily understand I’ve always struggled understanding ase breeding and stacking mutation to this day but asa sees so much easier now for pvp lines and everything
Very well explained and a great guide brother! And I agree, with this new very lenient system you can start mutations as soon as you get a pair of dinos instead of wait for the stats you’re ok with starting with
This is actually so cool. Often especially on the island you can't find high levels especially early on. I had several cases of starting mutations with 35 or so on a stat and later found something like 41 or 43 in ASE which wasted SOOOO much time. This definitely makes the game more accessible as a single player because I don't think tribes have this problem as much as single players. They can hunt dinos in several spots and kill low levels to basically force high level spawns real quick compared to single players.
@@CxMonstah thats not the issue. Island has a natural curve towards low end. Lets say you play default or set 150 max. Island still makes almost all dines level 60 and below. The higher end of the curve spawns too rarely and you need to clear the map usually multiple times to find something like lets say giga high level or yuty or carcha. The dinos that don't die by themselves and stay on the map for long. Some rare dinos almost stop spawning like thylas at some point especially if you don't clear the trees from bees. I have been looking for a thyla on the island for like a month at this point.
@@CxMonstah I didn't tho you clearly didn't understand/ I maybe wasn't able to explain what I meant. Anything short of making everything like set 150 level which kills the whole chase doesn't work on the island even with mods in my experience. You set it like min level 60 then everything is between 100 and 60 levels and you get like 10 dinos in the whole map tops that is 140 adjacent. You can set it higher than that sure but the problem is there is not a way to make hunting less rng dependent and still be actual hunts on island because either everything is really high levels or high levels are really hard to find.
@@ozimantv The mod that CxMonstah is referencing has a few different settings. It doesn't just change the minimum spawning to be a set number, it changes how the Island's spawning system works to either mimic Ragnarok, invert the weight (weighted towards high-end, plenty of lows still spawn), or have an equal chance to spawn any level. I'm personally using the mod for the reason that you mentioned - With some dinos being hard to find after a while (Spinos, Otters, and Thylas come to mind) it's easier imo just to weight the spawns different than to run around killing everything in sight to chase down the level.
idk why but you drawing this out made it alot simpler to grasp since im a brand new ark player, didnt even know ase existed until asa came out. ive watched hour long guides about breeding and mutations and even using actual creatures to show it off but it never clicked until i stumbled upon this video thanks man you helped alot
Omg, this change makes breeding so much more worthwhile. So often I’ve bred the crap out of a Dino only to tame a wild Dino with a higher stat and effectively negated all my breeding effort.
You did an excellent job breaking this down. Drawing it out especially helped me understand the differences in the new breeding system. On the subject: What's everyone like to use for breeding multipliers? Trying to boost it on my server so casual players still get a chance to try some boss fights.
I think that depends on how fast you want players to play. Most people quit playing after doing the bosses (guilty of it myself) so beware you don't make it too fast.
seeshell gaming had a really good tutorial. I was able to get a 40/40 pair of zinos on official after 3 months and then I got hired as a mega tribe breeder😊 because of her video I mean there's plenty of good ones out there man. I'm interested to see how this is different now.
WOOOO! I don't have to rebreed an entire line anymore because I tamed some random 150 full event just because it was pretty and gets up with a higher stat then I had previously is AMAZING and a huge time save!
ohh my good this is like one of them lockdown online maths lessons 😭😭. The digital writing up of numbers just hit me with so much repressed trauma!! Funnily enough you taught me way more than all those online lecturers ever did 😁😁❤️

yes cuz he want to look more inteligent than you. He is rushing too much details before talking of the subject. "how to breed how to keep the interesting stat" THE ONLY shit we want to know...
The individual stat limit remains at 255 (254 if you want to add post-tame levels) on official servers, but it can be changed on unofficials higher or lower. What's unclear at this point is if that limit is for hatched levels or hatched levels plus mutations. I suspect the latter, but only time will tell.
Can confirm that it has no effect on mutations, so the max you can get is 255 in all stats except health with has a 254 (melee for giga and carcha). Then add in the mutations let’s say 20 per stat and then add in the experience level. They should get to 1530 + 20(6) + max experience level cap
i never got into breeding in ase because of how complicated it seemed to me. this is much easier for me to understand, and i might actually try and get into it now. thank you for a great visual explanation too
This is just what my tribe mates needed. Explained it better than I could've so now you're my go-to for breaking in newbies on breeding from here out! Thanks, mate!
Omg this video is so easy to understand, thank you! I’ve watched a couple videos about this and it goes over my head but you’ve done a really good job.
Until yesterday, this is how i thought ASE breeding worked. Learned that the hard way after rewatcging a breeding video. Glad to know that my original understanding is now reality in ASA
Its worth noting that at 4:06 its said you want to use a male baby with the new improved mutation, but in the case you get a female that gets the mutation, you can either gender swap it using some mod, or you can breed that female baby with the dad you started out with (or any other male). Here you would also have to make sure that dad or other male does not have any mutations just like you would with the male baby. By breeding the female baby with a male you have good chances of getting the mutations that are on that baby female, onto a new baby male. its how i breed mine rather than only going for the male in the mutation process. Its worth noting that if you are using some kind of mod or something to increase the odds of mutations it may actually be better to simply only go for a male baby and throw away the female baby even if it has the correct added mutation
if you have alot females its often faster to just pretend you didnt get any mutations and do another batch, really need to leverage the fact a male can breed with 20 females for maximum efficiency, people using mods tend to forgo this tho i usually just add the mutated female to the breeding group of females for the next batch so i can leverage both odds
Are you not able to just stack the muts? Like if the female had 2 muts and the male had 4 muts would it not be turned into a 6? If not that kinda sucks
Love that it doesn't matter if you dont have the absolute highest possible favorable stat line on your dinos at the start. You can breed one that you find later that's higher, into that line as the mutations are independent from the line. I Remember the last time I was breeding rexes I got through the melee and stamina mut lines first, was about halfway through the health line when I found another rex that after taming was about 2k starting health higher than my original starting pair. Was pretty upset. Now that wouldn't be an issue. One thing you said I'm not sure about though. You mentioned the mutations could possibly go up to 244, is that per stat or in total? Because that could mean MEGA dinos and I'm all for that!
254* and yea they are called stat capped dinos. Because you max out each stat and get insane values plus a Dino with a level over 1000 if the server doesn't have a level limit
What about wild dinos with mutations? That's a thing now, I'm interested to know how many mutations a wild Dino can have and how breeding them with other dinos works.
I claimed a baby Rex with 2 mutations on it earlier. Problem is I have no idea which stat is mutated since I killed the parent. I hope they add the ability to see which stats are mutated through the UI.
FINALLY! I understand!!! It took someone drawing pictures for my pea brain to click! Lol This makes so much sense! I was getting frustrated because everyone else was confusing me and I couldn't keep the different generations straight. I was about ready to give up. So thank you!
The thing with breeding is it takes a long time regardless to get those boss ready dino's, The mutations use to be random RnG and where difficult to manage after a certain point having to keep cross breeding your best mutated males to avoid the cap with this change it's one less thing to worry about, now you can pick any old breeding pair of dino's and farm the mutations seperately whilst you hunt for those max level, max stat dino's and breeding them into one mutationless breeding pair you can then cross breed the mutation at the end, I think it's a good move. Nice explanation thanks for sharing.
This was actually pretty easy to understand and very helpful and from my understanding i can use the gigantoraptor feathers to speed the process up at the end or throughout the entire process so thank you i understand most of breeding now
This has always been in the game you just couldn't see it nothings changed. They really simplified and made breeding and mutating easier to understand then prior
It has changed, mutations having their own counter instead of being merged with the base stat is incredibly different in how you can breed dinos with more efficiency in this system
This guide was amazing and very insightful. I have watched syntacs verison on repeat and almost never get the mutation stage but with easier stuff with mods and tek binoculars plus this explanations i understand it way better.
thanks for the video i understand breeding but even in ase i had to bust out ms paint and explain the same way you did to my friends now i dont have can just send em this
this is the best explanation i have found on youtube about this topic, i learned more than other guides i have seen! one question, can you maybe do an ingame guide? i’m curious about the process!
I'll try once I have more experience, my pc has been packed up for 6 days as I've moved to a new city so I'm still waiting for stuff to get set up and progress again
Yep, never understood the breeding in ASE, now this actually make me want to go do breeding because I can understand what to do. Awesome and thank you!
I agree. The most informative video yet. I still have questions if I may? 1. Does the counter for mutations stack when breeding 2 different lines with mutations? I understand that the total of mutations received by the baby will only come from one parent and not the two when it comes to a single stat. But in ASE, the mutations count did stack when breeding with other bloodlines with mutations. 2. Yes this seems like an easier way for some to understand how to breed appropriately, but at the same time it seems like a way that the devs might have found a way to avoid us getting a negative mutation count. What do you think about that? Thanks again. Happy Arking...
Sure, 1. I'm not sure how it differs from ASE in this regard honestly. I do think it will stack but i haven't been able to try yet. 2. Perhaps that bug is solved here, it did kinda exploit the system to easily get 254 stat dinos.
Do you have a video on how you set your settings for a good way to get imprints easier? Or talking about how to set them correctly? This video has helped me out and i really need help with the settings for breeding 🙏💙
This was the best explanation I’ve seen. I’ve seen searching & confused since Ark original for over 5+ years and I finally get it lol. I’m a visual learner so this is way easier than I thought
I have watched 4-6 mutation guides so far and this has BY FAR been the best guide and the first to make it truly understandable. Could you also elaborate on why the Females always need to have 0 Mutations until the very end? I would think that breeding a 78 Mutation male and a 0 Mutation female would have lower odds of higher mutations than say, a 78 Mutation male and a 78 Mutation female.
It's to keep their maternal mutation counter at 0/20 so that if possible in ASA, you can breed the paternal side to over 20/20 and further like 128/20 and STILL get stat increases
@@Surxe yes if both are capped at 20/20 you dont get new mutations. Also if you convert the mutations over to a male every time and breed it back to a bunch of clean females, the next mutation will come a lot less tedious as otherwise youd have to get a bunch of females with the exact same mutation to breed back to a clean male. basically breeding with mutated females instead of mutated males will just add an extra step that can turn out to be timeconsuming and tedious since you cant influence which stat gets mutated.
also worth noting that once the father is past 20 the odds of a new mutation gets halved since the father can no longer proc a mutation and you're depending solely on the female to proc a mutation, i always found 20 to be a good stopping point anyway for the average dino unless you're going all out tho if youre going all out, you also need to make sure the useless stats are as low as possible since there's actually a max total level
Well done for the video, as a long time breeder myself, this is an excellent video. Subbed. Keep posting, would love to see you post videos on a line you are currently working with!
What sucks is that you practically need the tek binoculars to read the stat levels of your own creatures unless you find a good calculator for it (which I haven’t found) and to get the binoculars you gotta fight the dragon which practically begs you to use mutated dinos
Here's an ingame guide on how this all works with real creatures: ruclips.net/video/0GJWHfciNs8/видео.html
Pictures for dummies I lovevit

Dude thank you, this vid explained the confusion i always had with breeding
Glad I could help!
Appreciate the guidance! Didn't know it got changed till I watched. Time to make another Super Carchar 😂
Enjoy and good luck
this is the best explanation i have found on youtube about this topic, i learned more than other guides i have seen! one question, can you maybe do an ingame guide? i’m curious about the process!
I'll try once I have more experience, my pc has been packed up for 6 days as I've moved to a new city so I'm still waiting for stuff to get set up and progress again
Saved me so much time. Wasn’t looking forward to breeding mutations the old way. Nice work.
Great to hear!
This is the best and most simple guide to mutations 👍
Glad you liked it
By far the easiest to understand breeding video
Glad to hear that
Dumbed down so that us noobs can understand the game. Much thanks man
Hahaha you're welcome, I would've explained it to myself this way too
Yep, never understood the breeding in ASE, now this actually make me want to go do breeding because I can understand what to do. Awesome and thank you!
Glad I could help! Enjoy the process
Now I know that I can transfer mutations this is a big help bc I mutated two dilos from levels 35 and 46 to 201 from just mutations!
Oh wow 😮
Such an awesome simple straight forward way of explaining this all. Nice job!!!
You're welcome
Had zero knowledge on any of this and now I understand it completely, really great job explaining!
Great to hear!
Thanks for the video, it was easier to understand mutations watching your video 🦖❤️
Glad it was helpful!
Dude absolutely amazing video explaining a complex system in a way a simp like me can understand, thanks a ton
You're welcome
Sure,
1. I'm not sure how it differs from ASE in this regard honestly. I do think it will stack but i haven't been able to try yet.
2. Perhaps that bug is solved here, it did kinda exploit the system to easily get 254 stat dinos.
Best explanation of breeding mutation I have seen. New sub
Awesome, thank you!
This was a very clear and quick explanation. Thank you for that!
Thank you so much. It's nice that you can start mutations with low levels now
No problem!
Hey fellow South African! :)
Thanks for the guide, well explained.
Hey there. Glad it was helpful!
Do you have a video on how you set your settings for a good way to get imprints easier? Or talking about how to set them correctly?
This video has helped me out and i really need help with the settings for breeding 🙏💙
You can try these ruclips.net/video/xXIg2CtdYbw/видео.html
Explained PERFECTLY! Just subbed! Look forward to diving into your content as I play!
Thanks
This was the best explanation I’ve seen. I’ve seen searching & confused since Ark original for over 5+ years and I finally get it lol. I’m a visual learner so this is way easier than I thought
You're welcome
I have watched 4-6 mutation guides so far and this has BY FAR been the best guide and the first to make it truly understandable.
Could you also elaborate on why the Females always need to have 0 Mutations until the very end? I would think that breeding a 78 Mutation male and a 0 Mutation female would have lower odds of higher mutations than say, a 78 Mutation male and a 78 Mutation female.
It's to keep their maternal mutation counter at 0/20 so that if possible in ASA, you can breed the paternal side to over 20/20 and further like 128/20 and STILL get stat increases
@@ConCon interesting, so mutations are capped when both paternal and maternal at 20/20?
@@Surxe yes if both are capped at 20/20 you dont get new mutations. Also if you convert the mutations over to a male every time and breed it back to a bunch of clean females, the next mutation will come a lot less tedious as otherwise youd have to get a bunch of females with the exact same mutation to breed back to a clean male. basically breeding with mutated females instead of mutated males will just add an extra step that can turn out to be timeconsuming and tedious since you cant influence which stat gets mutated.
also worth noting that once the father is past 20 the odds of a new mutation gets halved since the father can no longer proc a mutation and you're depending solely on the female to proc a mutation, i always found 20 to be a good stopping point anyway for the average dino unless you're going all out
tho if youre going all out, you also need to make sure the useless stats are as low as possible since there's actually a max total level
Reminds me of Pokemon breeding with the IVs (mutation) and EVs (stat levels).
It really is like that in many ways
Thank you very much for this video.
You are very welcome
Well done for the video, as a long time breeder myself, this is an excellent video. Subbed. Keep posting, would love to see you post videos on a line you are currently working with!
Awesome, thank you!
This was the best explanation of the breeding system that I’ve seen. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks soooo much this is gonna help me out heaps and save me ALOT of time
You're welcome
Great explanation!
Glad it was helpful!
Breakdown was on point!
I watched like 10 of these vids. Yours is the best one by far! Thank you:D
Wow, thanks!
What sucks is that you practically need the tek binoculars to read the stat levels of your own creatures unless you find a good calculator for it (which I haven’t found) and to get the binoculars you gotta fight the dragon which practically begs you to use mutated dinos
Ya and all the videos explaining this only show things you can see with tek binoculars. And you have to beat the level to unlock them.
You can also write down the values at base without any level ups. And monitor the changes as you get mutations
Love it! The mystery on how mutations work now has been answered. :D Loved your video, it is so easy to understand.
Thanks, glad it helped
very helpfull thanks for the info bro
You're welcome
I often don't leave comments but "F'N" done Sir well done
Thanks
Very good change, and very good video
Thank you very much!
This explanation couldn’t be any better thank you bro 🙏
