Best tutorial ever! Got my spring switched out with this video, thanks! Only got one quick problem.. the strut top nut still spins even when the weight is back in the car. The 7mm Allen key method is not working either. Is there something else I can do to tighten that down?
Its supposed to be a gap between the rubber and the metal on the top, please awnser me,thanks
6:50 This should be done with new bolts, but I guess he forgot to mention that. The angle is torque to yield and actually stretches the bolt for proper clamping force. These TTY bolts are only supposed to be used once
+FasNuf Garage Thanks for the tip! We'll pass this info along to our production team.
Do you have the part number for the strut on the 2011 SS Camaro? Excellent video, I had to subscribe!
I watch this hoping for some insight because I have a 2008 Cadillac SRX but even though it does have a strut type suspension system it takes a shock absorber and utilizes the factory springs which you do not replace.
I really just needed to know what the torque specs were on the brace/swaybar in the engine compartment that covers the tops of my shocks.
Is there supposed to be a gap on the dust shield on top?
Does this method apply on a 2018 too?
Do I need to apply pressure to the strut before torquing the 2 bottom bolts or can I do it in the air?
I have a front left strut that’s blown on my 2012. Is it acceptable to replace just the bad one, or should I consider doing both fronts?
Also, will I need to get an alignment after replacing the strut?
You can just replace the bad strut, but if they have been on for a while, you may want to do the pair rather than replacing the other one in the near future. An alignment is recommended after steering/suspension parts are replaced. Thanks for watching! +Cali 45th
Would it be the same for a 2013 Chevy Camaro?
What does it mean if the sway bar link don’t go back in
Does this include the 2013 model as well or is this different?
I have a 13 Chevy Cruze looks about the same, is it the same? I purchased the whole Monroe assembly kit so if I loosen the top nut it will stay together,I don’t want to mess with the spring coming undone?also would I need an alignment afterwards?
+Tommy Miller The general procedure is relatively similar. Loosen the nuts fastening the strut to the frame unless out of the car. You will need an alignment afterwards
Is 'ft lbs of torque' mandatory for all of this? Pros and Cons if not doing 'ft lbs of torque'?
+Mike Tarter Thanks for checking us out! It is recommended to use the ft/lbs rather than another unit of measurement to ensure everything is tight and will not come off.
My font end sits after installation, why? Everything was installed correctly and torque to specs
The only thing that holds this to the body on the top mount is the weight of vehicle and this nut and washer . I was wondering why when I lift the car this hangs loose , so sad 😢
Where can I acquire the under the hood strut isolator by itself?have not found in any auto store.
+Matthew Garcia Great question! We do not currently carry this part. Try contacting a local dealership for any leads.
A Chev Lumina 6l 2011. Should the to section of shock move when turning the wheel
+Nicky Van Dyk Front strut assemblies usually have a bearing at the top that allows the whole assembly to rotate when turning the steering wheel. Thanks for watching! 1AAuto.com
1A Auto Parts I have the bearing in. It is D2 struts and shocks. Assembled the same as the originals. But right at the top there is movement to the front and back
+Nicky Van Dyk Thank you for getting back to us. The top bearing should allow the whole assembly to rotate when turning the wheel. You will want to be sure the part is also torqued to the proper specifications to ensure it is not loose or over tightened. Please let us know if you have any further questions, thank you!

I don't get it. Where's the camber and caster plates?
What happen if the top bolt still spins?
+Levy Hernandez You will have to use the hex to counter hold it like we show you in the video. If it still spins then you will have to try an impact wrench. 1aauto.com
The person who put them in striped the hex hole!! How can I hold the bolt?
How many ft lbs of torque should the top nut have
Thanks for checking us out! The top strut nut would need to be torqued to 52 foot-pounds. Hope this helps you out!
