I would like to know what the adjustment is for on the rear shock mounts. I noticed the bolt holes are slotted but I don't think it changes anything relative to camber or otherwise. Rather, I think it may have some impact on shock travel due to the added or reduced angle relative to the suspension geometry.
Hey guys thank you for the video! I have some rattling in the rear at low speeds at minor road bumps. Rolled the rear onto the ramps, I got under the car and swayed it, and it’s a clunking sound from the top of the strut. Is it a nut at the top of the strut that’s loose? Thank you!
Ok so I just got if fixed - took off the strut and turned out the shock top nut was not tightened, as a result the shock and especially the big washer inside the upper mount was rattling. I was almost sure it was the problem after I folded the back seats, got my head into the trunk space, and asked my wife to drive around. The rattle was very distinct. According to the paperwork, the shocks were replaced at a dealership by the previous owner around 7k miles ago… hope it helps someone! Thank you guys for the video, the process was pretty easy after watching it.
Yo lol you put the same strut back on , also I like your videos your awesome and very handy with a wrench but man truly you know when you work in a ship environment you work with air tools or battery impact tools which helps you get paid better more clients you can server , I respect some mechanics and some i just find to be all out crooks, for example in my city it was raining recently and I needed to change my rotors and I didn’t want to do it in the rain so I got quoted at one shop 120$ to change the rotors and then I paid another shop 40$ to change the rotors on my car , I’m not a dumb ass i really didn’t even want to spend the 40$ but I was tired and it was raining and hot so I wasn’t going to do it that day , Oh and by the way I have the same car your working on in this video
Well they are only trying to help and teach people how to do it , I’m sure that’s why he used the same strut and he is using normal tools or cheap tools because like I said he is trying to help people not many people has air or electric tools , talking about shops a shop is not going to be looking at these videos 🤦🏻♂️😂
Dude its a demonstration vehicle lol. Basically an advertisement for their website. They've done SO MANY videos with this exact car, and theyve helped me with soooo many different repairs on my Camaro
Similar I suppose, but no. Your front is much more important because it connects to steering components and needs to have an alignment done after installation.

Thanks! Looks like a pretty straightforward job I feel more comfortable tackling this on my own.
Great video, I enjoy watching all your content
I saw someone keep the sway bar link in and unbolt the upper control arm instead of the lower, is that easier?
Not understanding the torque requirements when you do it twice, why isn’t the 120 tq the first time enough? Is that tq angle tool readily available

+Chapstyle USA The issue could be from the mount not being tightened enough but we would not be able to diagnose the issue.
@@1AAuto thank you guys! Will check it out and let you know👍💪

Awesome video! Really helpful 👍👍
How did you know the torque requirements? Shop manual? Also how long do these components generally last?

He keeps saying that the lugs are 22mm but they actually aren’t and that kinda annoyed me and my dad when we were putting ours on
So you don’t have to go in the trunk to access anything?
thanks for this

Is there anything different that needs to be done when do this to a 13 Camaro ZL1?
+Sean Givens Thanks for watching! This process should be the same or similar for the ZL1 model.
Are the shocks gas?
+Benny Lara They are gas charged shocks, yes! 1aauto.com
Is the process the same for he front?
Similar I suppose, but no. Your front is much more important because it connects to steering components and needs to have an alignment done after installation.
How often do i need to replace them?
+Mauricio Martinez The struts normally need to be replaced after 40,000 to 50,000 miles.
