I love this stuff. I’m a vet and started to wood work recently. I miss working with my hands and this stuff is so therapeutic. Love watching and learning
Nice Job. I just started this woodworking hobby about 5 years ago when I retired from the Baltimore City Fire Department (37+ years) and the US Army Reserves (also 37+ years). So you know I'm still learning the craft. Thanks aging. Will
OMG thank u soooo much man! I did this for my GCSE practice and my teacher (who just so happens loves harry potter) said it could pass an A in an actual exsam! I owe ya one
I love this Nimbus... all 3 brooms.. Look real and amazing job ... You really did a magnificent job at this and don't mind the others what they say. I love it... Would want one exactly as you did... Thank you for sharing and showing us how to make one... Very Nice Indeed!!!
Man your Nimbus replica is so awesome, i would be lucky if i can make it like as you do. your one lucky man for a having an Hp collection like the nimbus
Hermione, Danilo knows because he probably already watched it. here: ruclips.net/video/rg7PGZ6Ok0k/видео.html over 7 months ago. LOL! you should have subscribed. :-)
I wish I had these tools. But hell it you make this again I would gladly pay for it because my wife is a huge Harry Potter fan. Anyway I'm subscribing for sure!!
Amazing!!!! I'm not a Potter fan but my niece IS n I'm going to attempt this. Can u possibly give me the the specs on the handle like what the length is total n the length from the end to the first bend, how long the bend is, n the length on the 2nd straight piece? And how long our bristles need up being? I don't have the tools u have but I'm determined n tenacious....Lol. Got my board ready to start. Think ill go foraging for the bristles today. Thanks for showing!
Integrity, As you can see in the video I just space it out to what looks about right. I did not stick to any specific measurements. As in all my videos, I make it up as I go along. I no longer have that broom. I still have the secondary broom stick somewhere so I will measure it when I get home and let you know. Jon
JON'S DIY thank u sooooo much. This gives me a jumping off spot. I really appreciate it. U truly did an amazing job at it. Here's to me attempting it anyway....lol
Jon, what brand of metal bending tool are you using in the video? Or where did you buy it? And were you able to make the roughly 6 inch diameter of the kickstand part with this tool? The broom you made is great. I made one myself that I will have to post some pictures of when I figure out how to do that.I made my kickstand out of acetal rod which I have to heat and then form it to the shape I need. And I would like to try the aluminum rod instead. Thanks for any help you can offer.
I wouldn't go that far (talent), but I am not afraid to try. Thats why I post all the failures as well. That way when you make yours you don't have to repeat my mistakes.
The 2x6 was 6ft long. I ended up cutting it to a little under 4 feet once I had my sketch on the board. draw out and cut the base (where the bristles are) longer. That way if you need to shorten it to get the right size you can. If you start to short, then you have no way to make it longer.
Probably less than you. I can only do these types of projects on the weekends in between swim meets and soccer games. So I am impressed that I got this one complete.
Hey Jon! This broom is amazing but is there and easier way to make the kickstand because I don’t know how to work with metal and I really want to make it
Minz, I actually considered buying moldable plastic and making the kick stand. It is really easy to shape and paint. But with the weight of this broom I was unsure if it could hold the weight when dry. But there is also 2 gauge wire that you can bend by hand. That would probably do the trick as well.
At 16:10 your kickstand lays flat on the table, at 16:35 it has an arch in it. Did you make the second one different then the first or did you put a bend in it later and not show it on the video? Which version did you like better flat or with the curve backwards?
Linder. Yes, good catch, but it was not intentional. I was making two identical brooms and just completely forgot to place the bend in the top of one of the kickstands. I did go back and put in the bend to the other one when I noticed. If you look at the video here ruclips.net/video/jXqb6Sg_qp0/видео.html you can see that one has the bend already and one still does not. Thanks for you comment. Jon
@@JONSDIY I made the nimbus 2000 for a friend who does circus performances and he hung it from straps and did a whole show from it during a harry potter themed circus show. It was awesome he did all sorts of crazy maneuvers from it. I had to make it out of steel though so there was no chance of it breaking. It came out pretty great thanks to your help. I would show you a picture but I cant figure out how to attach a picture to here.
Would love to see it. post you pic on my Face Book page "Jon's DIY" or just email me at Jonsdiy@gmail.com glad it worked out for you. thanks for your great feed back! Jon
Most impressive. Although, I would have painted the inner foam by hand, as spray paint potentially erodes all foam more often than not. LOL, Believe me, I know from rather unfortunate experience...
This was amazing! You can tell a lot of hard work went into it. You never mentioned how you put the name on the handle… Did you just use gold paint and a brush?

It always appears neat because I have to move the car out of the garage first. Nothing can be stored where the car is parked.... lol
