Used to obsess over the Ren when it first dropped. Saved up and got one in 2018 and only then did I realize it wasn’t standalone. Four years later i got a Roland 404mk2 and understand it really well from studying Akai’s MPC2. Stopped using the standalone software after a few updates it started to crash on me, so I open the VST version in FL instead, that loses the start/stop button which was the best part tbh
I do like the start and stop button. You got it in 2018. Man I had mine since 2012 lol same one. It worked here and there. Now it’s at its peak cause it’s old school as crazy as that sounds
I need to say I was the guy who wrote the reddit post Short answear I get it It was cheap tbh The software is holly crap shit It was so shit that i learn it after 3 month because it was frustraiting The most whyyy moment was LFO sexting= chokegroup... makes no sense I only look at the screen because it makes more sense than the pc window screen I hate it that not all plugins work The plugin compatible is broken and vst3 doesnt work Korg gadget doesnt work Overall with fun plugins like grossbeat Glitch2 ott korg m1 It is little bit worth it But only with fun plugins But my thought is ... should i upgrade it to mpc software 1.9 to mpc beats free or should i buy the mpc2 software
I have a ren and a X tbh the ren is the X without standalone capabilities

That’s dope man it’s my favorite Mpc controller for sure
@@hypebeastdad I just got a MPC live 2 retro which I love but I still find myself going back to the Renaissance.
@@JSINATRA5580 same here. It’s just comfortable plus it not being standalone forces you to finish and bounce tracks!
