I’m sure you have read up on it all now but Flambards has a huge history, it opened up in 1976 as an Aero Park to house aeroplanes and the Victorian Village was built in 1979 so yeah the rides came after !! The Huss Frisbee came from Pleasure Island, the Rocking Tug came from American Adventure and the Super Star was owned by Scott Manning and used to travel
The park sits on the edge of Royal Naval Air Sea Rescue culdrose airport. The airport is huge, but you cant see it from the park. The original owner of the park was a former naval officer, who brought part of the airport from the ministry of defence. The airport is sometimes called H.M.S Seahawk, and is home to Britains largest helicopter squadron. The park probably has a height restriction because it is so close to an airport.
I used to work in the shop at the front of the park about 10 years ago. It looks EXACTLY the same with the same products I used to price. You are correct that it is indeed TAT 😂😂
Welcome to Cornwall, lovely to see you at our local park and looking forward to see what you think of Camel Creek. We are going back to Newquay Zoo next week for my son's birthday, another lovely place to visit xx
Hi Shawn , I’ve just done a bit of research into the Victorian street exhibit ( as it does looks loads better than expected !) . So that entire area in the 70s used to be an ‘aerodome’ with plane exhibits etc and then they put in a couple of shops. There is a tv show called ‘flambards ‘ which the shops are modelled on . Obviously it grew to 60 shops over the decade and then in the 80s they put in the blitz exhibit . Keep up the great vlogs
Seeing Skyforce was a real blast to the past for me; it used to be Pendulus from Pleasure Island, my old local park! Really nice to see it still going strong over there.
That's a blast from the past! The dark ride tent used to be a 3D (red&blue glasses) dome cinema and was projected all around you, scared the poop out of me as a 6yr old. The ride itself used to be down by the log flume and had a hydraulic cover which would fold over the top of your kart while the ride was spinning round making it very dark. The dino express I'm sure was a land of little rabbits or something and the dinosaur nursery was the 'gus hunnybun burrow' where you walked underground and viewed all the rabbit warrens. Great to see they have tried to keep it updated. The amount of money I used to have off my parents to drive the (now removed) remote control boats where the small lake is by the mini-golf and they used to have a rainbow bumpy slide next to the drop slide. Ahhh memories.
I’m going to Alton towers in a few weeks, but I’m really badly sunburnt rn and especially on my shoulders, let’s hope my sunburn can fade before I go on the smiler for the first time.
I would highly recommend Beamish Museum if you haven't been before. It's the biggest outdoor museum in the UK and is filled with things to do and see. The entire place is set in different eras such as 1820s, 1910s and 1940s. It's located near Sunderland and showcases how life used to be in the North East of England back in the Victorian age. They also do different events throughout the year such as Halloween. Well worth a visit if you are ever up here again.
Amazing, I went to the Flambards over 30 years ago as a child and have fond memories, it was called the Flambards Village back then and the museum and blitz area hasn’t changed one bit. The log flume was around then, but many of the other rides weren’t there at all. After seeing this video I defiantly would love to go back soon.
I remember I went on thunderbolt when I was like six, it was my first intense ride and we didn’t know it was gonna be so intense and I cried the entire time 😂
if you like the victorian walk through then go to the black country museum in birmingham where the entire thing is a old victorian town with old vintage fair as well
I was here 2 weeks ago & it wasn't busy at all. All the rides were working & I started off with 5 continuous rides on the hornet. There weren't any queues at all for any of the rides so it was really good. I didn't really enjoy sky force as I had sore shoulders when I came off. On the log flume, when you got back to the start the operator asked if you wanted to go again. I had the baked potatoes with cheese as well. They only downside was, in the indoor exhibits, everyone kept bunching up & I kept holding back to let people get a bit infront of me but then more people would come.
I remember doing rocking tug in butlin's bognor regis, about 4 year ago, took kids on and I made the mistake of sitting on end , and felt sick lol.. that walk through attraction looks awesome, reminded me of the one in basingstoke, very immersive, there were some shops with people behind the counter to tell you about the history, and you were able to buy boiled sweets with old vouchers you were given.
Im going here next year, Having a week in Newquey, I did do Camel creek when it was under the Crealy banner, That Superstar was run like i thought it would be sadly, Family park isn't it. They are much better on the travelling circuit. Enjoyed the vlog and impressed with Flamabards. Such a good selection of parks in the UK but the public only support Merlin
the Hornet was one of my first proper roller coasters too! so Charlotte is not alone xD ironically It was around 15 years ago when I last went too, before this was the ladybird junior coaster at light water valley :) awesome vlog as well guys nice to see this park still doing well after all these years
Im glad you finally got to Flambards, our local theme park lol and loved how you liked the Victorian village and Britain in the Blitz , There were also displays of retired military aircraft which was apt because its next to RNAS Culdrose. I also vividly remember the yellow submarine.
The entrance to Flambards was moved when they built Sainsbury’s. We used to go every summer when on holiday, on one of the firework nights. My daughter and I spent one afternoon just riding the thunderbolt. But with the entrance being moved from one side of the park to another it meant it was too far to run for the last bus back towards Penzance
A bonus as well is that yo7 can take dogs into the park which was handy last year when we visited while on holiday. You can’t take them into the village though but great to be able to visit the park when you have dogs with you
1st ever park on TPW ! very cool !! memories for charlotte as well! not a big park from what i can tell! it's nice to see smaller parks getting love on your wonderful channel! i really look forward to your vlogs! 2 thumbs up as always! charlotte doing an outstanding job of recording for the video as well , way to go maam!!
Honestly shawn some of them ideas for the victorian village was outstanding. You should work high up in the industry with your knowledge and expertise .you could literally transform the fortunes of theme parks.
I went to alton towers in 2015 and I saw you at the exit and I said about that I live in Cornwall and Flambards is the best theme park in the south west. Also from 2005 to 2007 I work here
If you loved the history walkthrough, I would highly recommend Eden Camp or Beamish the next time that you are up here in the north east ☺️ I also would recommend The Forbidden Corner for a completely new experience. Great vlog as always!
My closest theme park as I live about 3 miles away. In my opinion Flambards is nothing to wright home about but I still love the Blitz & the village. Also it used to be called the Aeropark as it was a dumping group for Culdrose naval base.
Hi shawn and Charlotte really enjoyed the vlog looks like a lovely park. Loved the victorian walk through so much detail just amazing. You two were like 2 peas in a pod on the ferris wheel it did make me laugh. Cornwall is such a beautiful part of the country amazing beaches too . Thankyou for sharing your adventures with us . Love to you both love Tracey xx
best bit there is the blitz britain museum, i live in Newquay so it was the place to go when i was young, i loved that museum bit the best, the smell, everything. They found the shop there with all the stuff in it and built the museum around it, it's a real time capsule.
I could spend all day in that Blitz place never mind the park. Id be hours just reading all the newspaper clippings you walked straight past 😂 I really want to go here, bit from from Blackpool though
i really hope they get a new coaster in the next few years, it would draw in so many more people, also that log flume gets you soaked so Charlotte was in luck :)
The walk through was part of “The Flambards Experience” before the most resent rebrand, the walk through is brilliant, I remember going there as a kid through the war parts, originally that walk through and the blitz was the entrance to the park and you walked through there first - really hope you enjoyed yourself 👍
Always went to Flambards when we visited family In Cornwall. I remember them having a paintball shooting gallery? Would love to go back as I never really appreciated the Victorian village area as a kid!
I had a similar experience last year where I went to Sesame Place in 10 years to ride Oscar's Wacky Taxi. The park used have a giant playground area and added some flats and a smaller, newer structure.
We have a place in the North East of England called Beamish that is very similar to vicorian village at flambards and war themed one called Eden Camp Hope you and Charlotte had a lovely time :)
the village was there when I wes a kid and living in Plymouth and I'm 43, all the items are real 100% genuine and Im sure they do very little in the village around the year may be you should send them some ideas from what you've seen in other parks.... great to see you around my part of the country, are you going to the big sheep or the milky way both in north devon on your trip? the rides was added after as a after thought lots of schools have a day out there.... the green tent used to be a 3D cinema with short shows and had to have them silly green and blue glasses on
If you like aviation and history there are 2 amazing museums in Germany, technik museum in Sinsheim where they have a Concorde and the Russian variant and a couple of other ones, and in technik museum Speyer they got a real Russian spaceship and some war boats. It are really 2 amazing places. And again amazing vlog, as always!!
Right I have just pressed the play button then pause, I'm going out on a limb here, but when you go into the village and air craft area you are going to be completely blown away, if you were wearing socks you are going to have them blown clean off! I first went in 1980 and here and Babbacombe model village set my dream to own my very own themed attraction (still working on it) But I hope you get the same jaw dropping moment I had 40 years ago, right will press play now and see what you thought :)
Well you loved it, we hoped you would, normally you can go upstairs in the village as well, did you see the old chemist shop, it was at the end of the village, it was all shut up for nearly 100 years, it was moved lock stock and barrel to Flambards cobwebs and all! and Charlotte to remember world in miniature. another place for us, the dinosaurs there came from another little theme park called St Agnes Leisure Park (my dream park) so the Dinos are very well travelled around Cornwall. sorry for such a long comment and added reply, we have been looking forward for you to see Flambards for so many years, as always you both have done the place proud.. But it's really true about sunny weather we do really bad in shops and attractions on sunny days, they really all go done the beach, on a over cast day it would of been rammed!
Looks like hornet has aged well! It looks like a very smooth ride. I like to see how much you guys also enjoy and can appreciate the smaller parks they really need our support especially in these times and more than the larger parks.
Thanks for the vlog. We have decided to visit Flambards based on your review. I was also impressed that the theme park is conveniently located next to Sainsbury's supermarket 🛒
@@theironix8119 same with the helicopters at Legoland they have completely opened it up. I liked It when there was all nice trees around the ride and now they have opened it all up.
Shawn I would really really recommend visiting the fleet air arm museum down in Yeovil. It is full of brilliant planes and lots of history. It also has a similar walkthrough but it’s set on an aircraft carrier. It’s brilliant and it’s located next to the air base.
Ah I spent a lot of the 90s here with my family. The Victorian/Blitz area freaked me out SO bad when I was a kid 😅 As an aside, my grandad was an evacuee from London to Somerset which is where my family is still based.
What a fantastic vlog Shawn and I was surprised that this park was one of Charlottes first theme parks when she was a young girl with here family. The Victorian village looks fantastic. I can't wait to see it for my self in the future.
I love that you’re just chatting away like normal while being thrown around upside down as if it’s nothing 😂😂
I was just thinking that exact same thing!!
I’m sure you have read up on it all now but Flambards has a huge history, it opened up in 1976 as an Aero Park to house aeroplanes and the Victorian Village was built in 1979 so yeah the rides came after !! Theme Park Worldwide there are a few railways in Cornwall for your adventure Shawn channel and they are definitely worth a visit
Shame that they have removed all the planes there used to be loads of them. They were still there last time I went in the early 90’s
Coaster crazy I watched ur flambards blog I loved it
I love Flambards. I went as a child and returned as a late 30 something and enjoyed it equally as much. The victorian village is brilliant.
"Nice bit of Sainsbury's theming" 🤣🤣
I always to call flambards, the park behind Sainsbury's.
I swear the log fume has been out of use for 10 years 😂
Wow these fast uploads are really helping me from not being bored
That’s great!

Charlotte: "Everyone: 'Thunderbolt looks too intense for me'"

I grew up in Devon and remember seeing adverts for this on the TV. Still don't feel like I'm missing out on much.

I’ve been to from mum before it’s very cool I like the Britain in the bullets but have not done the Victorian village I don’t think
Nice video. Beutiful park.❤️❤️❤️
I was there about 35 years ago and the only thing I remember was the blitz and the Victorian village
What a fantastic vlog Shawn and I was surprised that this park was one of Charlottes first theme parks when she was a young girl with here family. The Victorian village looks fantastic. I can't wait to see it for my self in the future.
Thanks for watching!
