Got rid of the stick Firestone Transforce and bought some BFG KO2s. Really happy with the look. Haven’t driven a lot on the tires yet but will do a 5k mike review.
Evasive14- The KO2 is a great tire! Great in snow, sand, mud, wet roads. I highly recommend them. I have recently switched wheels and tires. I’m currently working on a videos for that switch. Video will be out today or tomorrow. 👍
Sweet putting these on my 2500 Megacab, was going to put the 315’s on, I have a Kelderman air system on my truck which gives it a lil bit more lift. Have Cooper STT PRO 295’s on it now.
Thanks Paul. The KO2 is a good looking and great functioning tire. They have a great reputation and come highly recommend by a lot of people. I’m sure they’d serve your Tundra well.
I have a ram 2500 6.7 with those Transforce HT tires...Mine are holding up very well, I keep them rotated but they are only a highway tire and for towing and handle those conditions well. They will get you stuck on wet ground. the truck is heavey and once those tires spin one full revolution, the tread is packed with mud and essentially turns into a slick tire...until I wear those tires out I keep a shovel in the truck
Gavin H I have had a few tell me that they felt the Transforce tires were not that bad. Unfortunately for me, they did not hold up well. They did terribly on wet or slick roads and they wore out very quickly. I will say one thing for the Transforce, they rode smooth on road trips. I now have the Nitto Ridgegrappler and even though they look really good, I’ve sacrificed ride quality.
@@85Gute They were a lot louder than the KO2s, although I was comparing 33” Duratracs with 12k miles to brand-new BFGs. Not sure how an equivalent-sized Duratracs would sound/feel, but the BFGs feel better in the road.
If I remember correctly the mpg dropped a tad. That was on the lie-o-meter and not hand calculated. It wasn’t until I changed the wheels that I saw a big difference in mpg.
Are you running oxygen or nitrogen in those tires? What was the size of the old tires for comparison purposes? I've always been a fan of the Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S. They look nice, ride good, and have a pretty good review with customer base.
NM Fishing The original tire was a 285/60/20 and the new ones are a 285/65/20 so the tire is a little taller on the KO2. I looked at the Yokohama but I didn’t like those tires for the stock wheels on this truck. I will look at them more when I upgrade the wheels. Overall, after all the research, the KO2s are best for this truck and what I use it for. 70% highway, 30% off-road. Definitely not running nitrogen, Didn’t cross my mind to use it. It’s most used application is race cars from what I understand and there is usually water vapor associated Nitrogen. Maybe in the future I’ll use it but for now, I have no need.
@@85Gute nitrogen is used in race cars because the molecules don't fluctuate with the heat and cold add much as oxygen does. Also oxygen escapes rubber faster than nitrogen because the molecules in nitrogen are bigger. So it's supposed to be less maintenance to have nitrogen. Less lower tires due to oxygen and less uneven wear on your tires.
Yeah, you can run 80 on them. It will run stiff with it all that psi but you can run it with 80. My truck is an 18’ and will throw the tpms sensor at me if my pressures drop below 75 which will usually happen in the colder months.
Billy, I put some new wheels on my truck a little while back. I put the KO2s on the new wheels and I decided that I wanted a wider tire so I went with the ridge grappler. The time that I did have the KO2s, I loved them! I put some on wife’s SUV. I highly recommend them.
Looking into these as well, those factory tires are BS, on rainy days just accelerating normal from a stop my wheels start spinning. I don’t trust those wheels at all when the pavement is wet. Even a small puddle when turning a corner they just start spinning, total bs. my job put OTANI wheels on my work truck and it has way better grip than the Firestone.
Snow in new Mexico... that's funny lol come up to the highest mountains in southwest va/eastern ky/southern w.v , one day we have 7 inches one day its 50 degrees 🤣
There is very low road noise. If you have your radio on, you won’t even notice. I have since changed to a different tire but I liked the KO2. Also, the Firestones that come in these trucks are terrible. Surprised you got 18k out of them.
Big Bull Hitches There are a lot of good options for tires that look and perform well. Definitely do your homework before you drop some cash on some new rubber.
Cheyne Nelson as it sits in this video it does not have a level. The 285/65/20 is a perfect size if you don’t wanna put a level. You could do 295/60/20 as well with no rub. That’s a big tire.
Luis Lopez Absolutely, you can definitely get a 285/70/20. You’re only talking about 5 millimeters taller. That’s the equivalent of 5 dimes stacked together. The Ram is the ideal truck for putting bigger tires on with stock suspension because of the straight axle. Ford and Chevy don’t have that luxury, especially Chevy/GM. Hope this helps.
David Barbour, So far they have been great! Have about 700 miles on them since I did the video and so far they have held up great. Really have enjoyed the look that it gave the truck as well. I plan on doing an update video around 3 or 4K miles.
Very nice truck. When through several sets of KO2 over the years. Never let me down. Probably the best AT tires on the market.
Absolutely! The KO2 is consistently a good tire. I recommend them all the time.
2020 PW w 35” KO2. Very smooth on road
Best snow tires ever. Excellent tires all around.
Thanks for the video. Just about to put these on the truck 👌 let us know how they are holding up.

Right on! BFG makes a great tire!
Great video, right on Albuquerque nm. Also thinking about the ko2 for my tundra. Nice truck man Cummins is a great engine 👍.

Nice truck bro
Loving my 315/70R17s on my 2500 Power Wagon…only 500-ish miles so far, but leaps ahead of the stock Duratracs.
I was actually looking into the duratrac for my next set. Should I stay away? Did you not like them?

@@TradesmanOutdoorAdventures Thank, You. I’ll keep looking into it. I’ve heard mixed reviews.
It can be built for that check out cjc offroad!
Great video I have about 5k on my ram 2500. What was your mpg hit when you switched to these?

I'm also looking at putting the slightly taller tire on my RAM. Any rubbing at full turn?
Jonah Brown There is no rub at all on full turn. I could have gone up one more size and still would have been good.
Can you run 80 psi on those? The TPWS sensor throws a fit if i don’t run over 80 psi on the rear in my 16’ 2500.

I have a 2017 RAM 2500 and the OEM tires are those Firestone craps, but those KO you have at load rating "E" and at 80psi as my OEM calls for?
brendaleetv When I had the KO2 I had them at 80psi while unloaded and yes I believe they were E rated.
Thanks, Ill be getting those next week, then!
brendaleetv Awesome! You’ll be happy with them.
Any update 1 year later?

Yeah, our snow storms are far and few between. Wish it snowed more but 🤷♂️
_Virginia winters are a joke compared to Michigan lol... the coldest it gets there is 27°_
Is there a lot of road noise with this tire, I also have the Firestone tires 18000 miles and there junk.

Did you put any suspension/leveling kit or are you running stock?
In this video, everything is stock. The following year I put on a 2” level.
@@85Gute I see, thanks mate 🫡
You're right those Transforce are garbage. 14,000 on my 2018 2500 and down to 7/32". Starting to look for new ones
