That’s what we all face at every level of the government, from police to prosecutors to judges to politicians. Our government has usurped its authority and citizens have stood by and watched it happen because “criminals need to go to jail, and those jobs are such hard jobs”. I have no doubt that young thug is a criminal and was/is the leader of ysl the gang, but that does not mean that a judge should throw out the rules to get a conviction. And if it can happen to a “criminal” it will happen to a wrongly accused citizen. This is part of the reason we have innocent men and women in prisons. This is exactly why 3000 people have been wrongly convicted since 1989 (possibly more, but those are the wrongful convictions that have been overturned in that timespan).

I think it is standard for the judge to make the initial ruling on a recusal motion. If a whole new independent investigation were required every time a judge is asked to recuse, wouldn't that be a far too easy way to delay proceedings? So, the judge makes the initial ruling, giving reasons, and then a party can appeal, just like for any judge's ruling. So, it seems like standard operating procedure.

It was for use during investigation and arrest of public , in public to cut down on reports of physical abuse and other inappropriate behaviors so I do not find that odd. Exparte is suppose to be private. Taped on police record negates privacy. Police tapes not sealed and openly available to be viewed by any number of persons. Not many, if any, would do this for their client. Because he is this strong of a righteous person, the other lawyers were willing to follow suit, so it disrupted and made the point this judge and prosecution team are corrupt and working with one another. They need to take a look at all the previous cases this prosecution and judge oversaw. You can’t trust anything they’ve had their hands in after this, and you certainly can not trust them going forward. He basically ruined his career and has called all his decisions and way in which he runs the court into question. He is working for the state, which is everything a judge should not be doing- working for either side with a bias, and being ok and taking part in shady business and hiding communications pertaining to the case. It’s only being taken so seriously too because it was publicized and the public can put pressure on certain groups to do the right thing. Sad that it needs to be public for it to be taken seriously.

Couldn’t Steele file a complaint with the judicial commission? Then the judge and Steele would be directly adverse, and Glanville would be disqualified from presiding over this trial.
Anecdotally, several years ago, I had a judge take me in chambers ex parte to demand that I withdraw a pleading that called out the judge for her refusal to rule on my discovery motions prior to trial. She said she would grant me my requested continuance only if I withdrew my motion; otherwise she would go forward with trial immediately, despite the unresolved discovery issues.
I filed a judicial complaint against her for improper ex parte communications and bias. I went to the administrative judge, who removed the corrupt judge from all of my cases and entered an order that the judge could no longer be assigned my cases.

Judges can be removed by the people. You only need three. The issue is that it would be the Sherriff that would have to arrest and remove him, and the Sherriff is working with the Judge. All that being said, because people don't know enough about law, they don't have an understanding about roles. The coroner is the highest Agent on land. He could remove the judge, but he is likely working with the Judge too :) . Bottom line, the judge can still be removed even with all of that. He's getting away with it because even lawyers (judges included) don't know true law.

The worst part is that if you think these defendants are guilty then this will probably cause their victims to get no justice.

Is the judge eating something at the same time Mr. Steel is arguing paragraph 12? How rude!

He is the CHIEF JUDGE of Fulton County. No one will go above or against him. He knows this and he will just rely on the Appellate Court to rule in his favor. As long as it takes for cases to reach an appeal date, the interest in this case will have died out and as old as he is, he might be old enough to retire and it won't affect his job at all! Such a joke

The court reporter was in and out of the room during the ex parte meeting so the transcript of the meeting is incomplete. The judge who is the subject of the hearing will edit and further limit the usefulness of transcript. Just another day in Fulton county.

The 2nd chair for Williams has stated on the record that he knows the same information as Steele but was not asked by the Judge for the source and therefore not held in contempt. Dislike of counsel (Steele)?

Is it normal for the court reporter to go in and out of the room during the exparte meeting? How can they prove what was said if she wasn't present the entire time?

It’s scary! Sigh The fact that they get to keep wasting millions of taxpayer dollars knowing that this case will be overturned on appeal is so unethical. This is what it looks like when you have a bunch of people who have never created or run a BUSINESS!

    • @unarepublic

Judges can be removed by the people. You only need three. The issue is that it would be the Sherriff that would have to arrest and remove him, and the Sherriff is working with the Judge. All that being said, because people don't know enough about law, they don't have an understanding about roles. The coroner is the highest Agent on land. He could remove the judge, but he is likely working with the Judge too :) . Bottom line, the judge can still be removed even with all of that. He's getting away with it because even lawyers (judges included) don't know true law.
