  • Scenes from the special Keith Whitley tribute show on "The Ralph Emery Show" from 1995, featuring an old clip from 1985 of Keith doing Billy "Crash" Craddock's hit "Rub It In", Lester Flatt-style, and an interview with Keith's brother Dwight. Dwight performed his single "The Legend and the Man" on this show, but Dwight has personally requested I not post it due to his dissatisfaction with the performance of the house band, so I'll respect his wishes.

What a talent - sadly missed. We lost Keith just when he was about to reach his prime. That's right - the best of Keith Whitley was never seen. He never got the chance to show us all that he had - he was THAT GOOD! Jimmy Mac - Las Vegas

No stranger to the rain was a great song. Birmingham turnaround was good too.
Was in the crowd when Keith was there. ..we did his merchandise for him. His band practiced at our bands house because Carson Chamberlin lived there before us . We kept getting phone calls for him cause the phone was never turned off so about 6 months later he calls and asks This is Carson Chamberlin have I been getting any calls? Those of us in the office just busted out laughing, we're like who are you? Back in 86 you really couldn't google someone's name. That was a great memory. This was on Antioch pk .

Well, gee, Lester Flatt's family loved that routine, and that's all that matters. As for your comment re: Dwight, I'll call him & tell him what you said. I'm sure he'd appreciate such a kind comment from a so-called JKW fan. Besides, I'm getting you & others to talk about Keith by posting these videos that you wouldn't otherwise get the chance to see if it weren't for me posting these rare clips, some of which came from the Whitleys, so as far as I'm concerned, what I'm doing is working.
