The Whitley Family Reminisces (Pt. 1 of 5)

- Part 1 of a documentary produced by NEON Records of KY featuring members of Keith Whitley's family, his mom Faye, his sister Mary, and his brother Dwight. The interviews were conducted at the old Whitley homeplace along state highways 7/32 in Sandy Hook, KY, which has since been torn down to make way for a new highway through Sandy Hook. I have only been inside the house once, unfortunately, on Labor Day 2003.
Part 1 covers the fire the family escaped which led the family to move into this home the interviews were conducted in, the radio shows that were produced in their garage with Ricky Skaggs and his dad, and Keith's childhood and early bluegrass career.

I have met Faye only a couple times but both times she treated me as if she had know me all of her life. Distant relitives of mine he and Ricky Skaggs and my dad all played together back in sandy hook where my gandparents grew up. Just great people and Ms Whitley is such a wonderful person. Thank you for sharing these interviews.
Keith Whitley should be in the country music Hall of Fame ! Period ! There was know better live performance s than his in country music , u tube has the proof folks !! God bless the Whitley family ....

Thank you, John. Fans who aren't familiar with other members of Keith's family are shocked to find that they are so accessible and so willing to meet with the fans. Dwight has a real gift for spinning a story. I've spent some time talking with him and with Flo. I talked with Mary for only a couple of minutes. I've talked with Miss Faye, and they're the most wonderful people.
I listen to Keith Whitley .He has an amazing voice deeply missed .

Keith's brother sure looks like him only if he didn't have the grey hair,he would look exactly like keith.but look straight at his brother and you definitely can see the resemblance and thinking it was Keith " WOW " Now that's Awesome 👍💖😎

Haven't heard from you in a while. Thanks for stopping by! I think this was produced in 1995, during Dwight's affiliation with NEON Records. That was his record company that put out his first album "Brotherly Love."

Slight I'm about 5 years younger than key but but but Christmas 2013 I was sitting here and Keith's name popped in my mind and I started listen to the music that 911 studying him every since who's awesome awesome awesome God can't get enough of in that song I like that better then after he got good with it and get smoother on better and faster with it I think that the best sound at night video de Beaute it was very hard I lost a big brother when I was 12 years old car accident drunk dr its hard

Yeah, RUclips was having a lot of problems today. But I'm glad you came back. Seems now like whatever the problem was has been resolved.
I don't know what was going on with RUclips today. Dwight used one of the tapes for a track on the "Kentucky Bluebird" CD. I know now those tapes are priceless. Now that it seems like everything's in working order, I guess it's safe to start uploading more.

I'll also be uploading the tour of the museum that was set up in the garage hosted by Flo. She was as pretty in that presentation as I've ever seen her. Be looking for that soon. That'll probably be part 5.

Keith is a legend. I think Dwight is also one of the best singers in country music. He never get enough recognition for his talent and awesome work in the Blue Grass and Country Music.
