The Backstage Journals are probably my favourite series
Edit: happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to Ian, happy birthday to you
I agree -- gear reviews get boring, music reviews too. Love to see musicians gigging in these times.
same here ive watched em so many times over and over again an di cant find anything similar on youtube, that is full with just "it is what it is" parts i just love it.
@Voyce electronics Amp technician Yeah. I'm hoping this delta shit goes away. But here in Dallas Texas we are seeing shows get cancelled
Got to watch part of the show here in DSM on Saturday. Didn't realize you were coming to town but saw Noah Guthrie's name in the events schedule. You did not disappoint! I was great to see someone in person who I've followed for several years and admire as a player/gear junkie!
Hey Martin! I missed it... had no idea. ☹
@@JavyonVISION same i totally would have been there if i’d known.
Thanks for coming Martin!
Martin rocks hard
I think I may be able top this gig. My first paid gig was for a frog jumping contest.
Wow. That's... g r e a t (was it a good gig?)
Wow and I thought mine was cool (it was a boxing tournament)
@@artursantos459 point and game
CALEVERAS!
Do the loser taste just like chicken?
Those vocal harmonies are absolutely killer, so much vibe! Thank you so much for including the warmups, good reminder for the rest of us too.
6:01 good tune!
Those harmonies.... nice...
I've said it before.. I'll say it again... Rhett... this is "the band"... the chemistry you guys have is palpable.
.... and get a damn B3/Piano player!!!!
Do you know the song??
@@felixhotze8731 It's calles Razor Blade by Noah. From "The Valley" record. It rocks!
yep a good organ and piano would be great to add to the bands sound
Keyboard players are high maintenance diva's :D
Quick tip from a singer (you really seem confident in your singing now): when you need to go high, bend your knees instead of standing on your tippy toes. It’s amazing what a difference that makes.
Exactly what my singing teacher says! When you stretch up like that you close up your voice box (or something like that) which makes getting the note harder / less likely
@Voyce electronics Amp technician Hot tea and honey.
Everytime I see a backstage journal I can't click fast enough..I love guitar and live music so this is pefect..thanks Rhett for your hard work and posts!
With the audio quality you’ve gotten on the last few especially, you should ask Noah if he’d like to record a live album.
Great point!
Literally.
It sounds like it’s coming from the soundboard. Is it not?
@@queenhenryviii actually what's pretty dope about the guthrie shows is that they run their own in-ear monitoring rig, so Rhett and Noah can record an output of it for videos while the main output goes to the soundboard and PA. There was a backstage journal where Ian goes into how it all works, but idk which one and at this point they've probably tweaked it
The transitions in this video are so freakin good!!! Great editing, and also, Ian is such and underrated part of this band! Such a good, solid drummer that takes any high harmony in stride.
Happy Birthday to Ian, the mvp!
Couldn't agree more!
@NTPL Worship My wife and I had our first child! He was born with some complications and needed a whole lot of our attention.
I may or may not be shooting some new stuff this weekend 👀
I was there! You guys sounded fantastic and it was the best night, weather wise, we have had in months! Rhett makes it looks easy.
That's some tasty tone and playing, Rhett - Great stuff!
Love it! - good shows guys.
Thanks for including us in your travels. The band sound really great! Love your tone here.
glad you guys are back out playing! Sounded great! I love all the songs
Happy birthday Ian!!
Good job. Glad you're back in action!
Love these videos!
Very nice! Love the tone ❤️
Awesome performances. Great playing Rhett.
What a great sound! Man!!
Watching the backstage journal gives so much chills 🤩
Oh man, the harmonies are getting really gorgeous guys. More of that please! Everything else is really cooking, and can totally support more of that vocal wonderfulness.
I really luv these videos! Thanks so much!!
Rhett, you guys are fantastic! You need to get a record deal!
This is some of my favorite content to watch, much love
So good to see you guys back on the road again! Sounding better than ever man!
Thanks for putting the vlog together. Great to see you out and about. The band is tight, the vocals are on, people will be enjoying the shows !
There's something incredibly fresh here, and that's what rock so badly needs. The way the effects and tone of the guitar play off the hard, southern rock vocals is genius. And I love the sound of the drums. This is fresh air indeed. Are those last two originals? If so, holy shit!
I do believe this is country. I don’t really think this is rock.
What an amazing place!
What a great band!
Happy Birthday Ian!
Awesome songs! And a killer guitar tone and playing as well!
I’m sitting here watching this instead of learning the five new songs I’m supposed to learn for our Worship music set for Church this coming Sunday. Wow, this was cool and fascinating to watch! I miss the days of playing shows.
You guys sounded great! Hope to catch up sometime! Happy Birthday Ian!!
Awesome content, amazingly put together! Thanks🎸
What a blast, the bans sound so tight and your vocal harmonies seems to be better and better
Very, very good! Thanks for taking us on your trip!
Love this video series on stages and gig.. how good are you guys
Nice to see what it looks like today out on the road. The band is tight. Good job!
Wow. Guitar tone is stunning. Nice work Rhett
Happy birthday to Ian! Man you guys sounded so good, rock on!
Sounded great!
Awesome drummer!!!
Solid harmonies, boys!
Wow I’m in love with “let the damn break” the leads, the groove, the swing, the vocals, the attitude, and those snare cracks!! Both videos you posted with a snippet of it I can’t stop playing over and over! 🙌🤘⚡️🎸🎛📻💥🤯
Backstage journal videos are the best guitar related content on RUclips ! Love it
Great live tone dude! Really nice
Very cool, sounds great! Enjoyed this set!
Your harmony singing is coming along great man!
Sweet harmonies on that back stage!
Super cool. Favourite series for me too. Band's better than ever.
What a great trip
Rhett, thank you for what you’re doing. You continue to put out quality content presented in a professional manner.
I know you were initially hesitant about singing, but now it’s another tool in your box. You sound great!
Happy Birthday Ian.
Oh and great singing aswell!
Great video. Awesome to see you out gigging again. First time I've seen you with a guitar closet!! Hopefully we'll see the Tidalcaster in action on a gig soon. All of the hard work on the harmonies is paying off big time!! Huge dividends!! Band sounds amazing, hopefully more to come. Thanks Rhett!! 🎼🎶🎸👍
You guys sound great!
So happy that you continued singing! Would love a video talking about how have progressed and what helped and all that.
Awesome Playing and Singing My Friend
A solid crowd, right at dusk. This was awesome!

Sounding tight!
Great tone! You all need to come NC.
Happy Birthday!
Rhett, your singing has come SUPER far since starting your journey - that work is really paying off. Well done!
I love the songs, you really have to make an album!
Always love when venues and shows have a little extra something special for the artists. Really makes the event stand out and builds a great relationship. I've been back out for about 3 months now and it's been amazing. Keep up the videos Rhett, you inspired me to start vlogging in 2019 on my own channel here.
-Zack
Rhett your tone is really great !
Rhett- The rig is sounding great man!
Happy birthday Ian.
That sounded really good, both shows. A lot better than the gigs in 2019. Noah voice seemed really good too on these shows. Thank you for video!!!
Really enjoy this band alot
Happy birthday Ian😁
Happy birthday to Ian!
Love the backstage journals!
the band has improved a lot, sounds very compact. Chapeau
Great edition of BSJ. Noah and the band’s sound ismore refined now, the time off has been beneficial, apparently. The insight into what you do is fascinating to us (older) guitar nerds. Your profession is definitely a young man’s game, so enjoy the ride.
Ouuuuuu a guitar boat , you all are fancy
Sound is awesome, love the state fair..
Love the shot of the dressing room singing! And good choice on the Buffalo Trace :)
I dig noahs music- you all sound great
Currently lockdown in Melbourne Australia so great to see live music (even if only on youTube). Great songs and of course excellent tasteful playing. Really like how you play for the song Rhett.
Man ya'lls harmony is great.
Lol tell Noah to get that video up I can't wait to see it!
Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Ian! Happy birthday to you!
