Hey Rhett, in the future could we get a video featuring touring costs and how a show like this is funded/budgeted for? Thanks!
X2
Up
Please
Adam Neely has recently done a video on touring costs and is really interesting and terrifying.
@@tomandtheoutlaws I saw his video! I was thinking more along the lines of the costs and things for a supporting act and all that entails. Just another perspective :)
It was awesome to see you guys live in Austin! I'm drenched in sweat at the front between the wedges with the flamingo shirt. I bailed immediately after your set, it was too hot even at 8PM.
Thanks for coming Cody!
If you need a van, consider American Van Rental. They are located in major cities near the airport and have a large selection and inventory.
I've done a few festivals where the stage is facing west. Not only heat but sunlight directly into your eyes, sunglasses and sunscreen for everyone! Lol. You need to save those southern state gigs for spring and fall, go north for the summers.
WOW studio is looking very polished.
....but sounded really good. Who was the FOH engineer?
A story from touring... Mineral Point, WI, August 1983. I am walking up the outside stone stairs to the second story club where I am about to play a solo guitar concert, and a snake crawled right between my feet. So far, so good for a prelude. Next, I play the gig, and I am so tired from traveling in 100 degree heat for days in a Ford Pinto... that I fell asleep "while playing"... woke up suddenly and kept on playing from whatever chord I was on when I woke up. People clapped loudly, so it must have been OK. No idea what the starting piece was though.
Whipping Post gave me goosebumps. Well done!
YOU GUYS KILLED IT WITH THE COVER OF THE WHIPPING POST! AND I LIKE THE NEW SONG, STRIKE A MATCH SET A FIRE....OR SURVIVORS....I LIKE WHAT YOU GUYS DID IN THE BEGINNING TO SET IT OFF...AND YOU CAN SEE THE HUMIDITY IN THE AIR, MUST BE HARD TO PLAY, HANDS ALL SLIPPERY, HOW DID YOU KEEP A PICK IN YOUR HAND?
These videos are fantastic. Good luck to you all, brilliant band 👍🏻
I hope to be able to play gigs like this at some point. I’ve had my share of theater gigs, but nothing major. It’s good to see that live music is still going strong
Rhett, seeing the band practice together and have fun is awesome!!! If you can please post more of your sessions practicing, it's sick, great playing as always :D
Thank you for the video. It was great footage and up close and personal. It helped reaffirm my choice to not perform live anymore and limit my musical interactions to the studio as I had decided. All of it brings back memories of discomfort and misery I don't want to deal with anymore.
Man I totally feel you on your statement at the end of the video. The only time I feel like I am doing what I'm supposed to is on stage when the band is tight and the crowd is right there with us. I have an audition in a couple weeks, after a 10 year hiatus from music. Rock on!!
Welcome to hot ass Texas 😅 110 today 😭. Loved seeing y'all work the song out at the beginning!
LOVE THESE BTS JOURNALS/VLOGS
Also the singers voice is so dope!
Sounded great! Really dig the new Survivor tune.
Great real life lesson as always!
Cool. I'm in Midlothian just south of Dallas
Amazing set guys. And you sound sooo rocky. It was pleasure to watch and listen to.
Man, the end of this video is a work of art!
I love his voice man! Wish I could play with a writer like that. Awesome!
Loving the music. The guitar sounded amazing on the second show.
Band sounds fantastic.
That Matchless just rules!!
I wish I would have known you going to be in my area. My band use to gigs at Clayton's. Outdoor gigs at the island can be tough on gear lol
Good stuff! It’s been a hot summer
A high velocity fan and canopy are your friends.
Nice slide work Rhett! sounds brilliant man
Survivor is a killer song it sounds like Tom Petty met Bad Company and it's great
Sorry I couldn't make the show...I only live about 4 miles from the venue. And yeah...outdoor shows here this time of year are tough. We loaded in last week and it was 106 on the deck. Sounding good, Rhett!
Love these videos! Congrats on being back at it!
we need more of these vlogs Rhett!
Dude it was such a trip watching you guys do a run in Texas, especially in South Padre Island where I’m from! I’m currently living in Nashville trying to do “the thing” and in hopes of meeting y’all soon.
If you guy ever play again in SPI I would recommend applying baby powder to your fingers as the humidity can make your hands sticky and slow.
We just played an outdoor gig and it was 111 in DFW….😰
This kind of vlogs is the main reason I subscribed, I'm a drummer and I enjoy every video a lot. So thank you so much for making it!
And because of this channel I subscribed to Phill and really dig his knowledge and energy)
Btw what game Phil is plaing on switch? :D
Great band !
Can't go wrong with a Matchless.
Great vid as always, thanks for posting. Surprised you guys don’t seem to have any towels onstage.
Man, love that new song! Can`t wait to hear that recorded. Any plans to come back to Europe soon?
Austin!!!! I gotta get me one of those curly cords ;)
I live in Austin and it sucks right now lmao
yep
looks like a couple of great shows
Thanks for sharing - I love these vlogs. What is the telethat you are playing? Custom shop, MiM, etc...?
Dude's got a friggin' voice.
Great voice! I imagine the humidity did some weird things to the guitar setups.
Got a great room over in San Antonio at Sams Burger Joint, you guys would definitely fit in over there! Obviously they have burgers available for you guys before during or after, patrons can even order and have it brought to them while they enjoy the show! P.S. it is an indoor venue no worries about that Texas heat!
Aww man you guys were right down the street form me in round rock TX I can’t believe I missed y’all …. You guys sound amazing!!!!!!!!!!! Any plans on coming back to Austin?!?!?
"Texas Gas Station Sausage"......I have an idea for a song title!!!!
I had heard that Eddie Vedder would cycle in a sauna to get his lungs prepared for the amphitheaters. Just an idea.
I'm in Round Rock and I'm sorry I missed you guys!
Great content on the video.. but the editing/production was top notch.
Hey! Are you holding out on us?
Is this coming off an album ? Am I the only one who doesn’t know?
First arrangement
How are you running the QC with your backline/FOH? Just got a similar setup and there are so many options EDIT: I watched longer...
No in-ear monitors? What were you using for hearing protection?
Love Rhetts tone in this video. What amp(s) or amp model(s) is he using in this video?
What over drive/distortion pedals are you currently using?
Maybe there should be a plan B :) Kidding, you guys sound great
What is the guitar you are playing Rhett?
Sorry, but what game is Phil playing on that Switch? lol
guys, no matter hot hot it is...no one in a rock band should ever wear shorts, not even at rehearsal...ever...specially not the singer. you're welcome
Band sounds good, but maybe add a Kazoo. Just a little here and there.
you guys are great but no lead guitar check out my band in 87 Terraced Garden for crazy new thoughts you go bro ..
Summertime outdoor gigs in Texas are no joke. I'm a Texas guy and I've played plenty of brutal 3+hr outdoor gigs in the dead of summer. Your amp gets so hot you could fry bacon on it. Stay hydrated, y'all!
You must come to Sevilla in Spain, yesterday we had 110 ºF, and humidity...jejejeje. Literally, after lucnh nobody is on the streets until 9 or 10 pm when a lot of people goes to have a cold beer . Welcome to hell...!! :D
@@sinfirma23 Bring it on! Is it even rock n roll if you aren't drenched in sweat after the gig?
Man you should come play in Italy during the summer is so wet that it feel like being inside of a pool I had to adjust the thruss rod during the break lol
Noah’s voice is even better than last time I heard him - his tone is killer.
What is the name of this band?
Noah Guthrie and Good Trouble.
I get a raspy, better range… Dylan type of vibe. It works.
They should have their band name prominently displayed on all media. Why don’t they?
Yes that's a dream gig right there !
Check out @philipconrad video from our run, it’s super good!
ruclips.net/video/1R_Daz6odog/видео.html
😂😂😂can take the heat?? I can bearly stand it dude and I live here. I was at ozzfest when I was 12 and someone tripped me and I hit my head in the heat of texas ever since then I have had heat strokes in the summer of texas
Make sure you drink plenty of water man
Dude, you guys were playing down the street from my house! If only I’d known.
I’m following Phil & you know it, cause I subbed right in front of you!!! So glad to see you back out there my friend--that DC30 is 🔥
@@jasonflaherty8364 I know dude I’m so disappointed I live in Lago Vista I wish I knew they were coming!
These vlogs are the reason I started watching your channel. So glad to see them back!
They are very very good! We do a similar thing on our channel if you’d like to check it out!
Ditto
Yup. Same here
Same!
Man, Noah writes some great songs. That arrangement you all worked out on “Survivor” really hits.
Great show you guys put on.
I'm curious what you do with your guitars between soundcheck and performance? I'm guessing it would be a tuning nightmare to take them into the AC once they've acclimated to the heat, only to bring them back out again.
Noah has such an awesome voice. You guys are a great band.
Thanks Sean!
Love the backstage journal series so much. Rhett and Noah compliment each other perfectly.
We do a similar thing on our channel if you’d like to check it out!
These are the videos we've been waiting for, Backstage Journal vlogs are some of the best content on RUclips. Cheers Rhett, looking forward to more!
I think it's awesome. Love the practices.
We do a series called Road Diary, gigging around southern Missouri! Check it out!
True
Great hearing you guys playing together and HEATING it up there in Texas! 🌄🌅🤘🎸😎🎵🎶
That new (first track) you were arranging turned out stellar 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
THE GUITAR, VOCALS, AND BAND SOUNDS GREAT.
the more videos of band practices that I see across the internet, the more I realize that every band practice is the same. and it's amazing. Just thinking about hendrix's practices or the dead, or nirvana, or kendrick lamar, or celine dion or anyone.
someones crackin jokes or getting pumped about a new idea.
I love music
Watching you guys figure out the song from 6:00 to 9:00 was my favorite part. Just how you all throw out ideas and try stuff until it just clicks. That was really awesome to watch.
You guys are such a great live band! Survivors is the heaviest thing you guys have done yet! Please, when you record these songs in the studio, please record it all live off the floor, your sound is like no other! You guys sound so tight! Keep rockin'! Sending love from New Zealand!
couldnt agree more great sound overall if there was a keyboard in there band to that would be epic too add a new layer of potential
That riff in the survivor song kind of reminds me of the riff in Bad Company’s “feel like making love.”
I play outdoor local gigs in Tampa,FL...which includes unloading, setting up the pa & then playing 4 sets....then break down and reload everything 🥵🥵🥵 its definitely a labor of love... not for the money
and of course dealing with the rain.
I was at y’all’s Round Rock show and yall killed it!! Your rig sounded HUGE out in the crowd! So cool to see y’all live! 🤘🏼
Loved this video! The "YESSSSSS"! moments in rehearsals are priceless when the band does something inspirational and you get that emotional excitement that lifts you up. Great Band Guys!
Living in Texas in the Summer is brutal. I'm in Austin. Houston is even worse. If you really want to suffer go to St. Louis. And Yes I've spent over a decade in both places.
In 2000 was in 114f in north little Rock Arkansas. 2013, 108f central Arkansas. It's bad, but ... drink more, of anything. Be good.
40c in London is beyond their experience, so send a little sympathy
With the Sahara dust, it was just kinda nastier that past few days.
South Florida in July is rough. You can slice the humidity in the air with a knife. Having the ocean breeze helps a little but by 10/11 AM you still end up relentlessly searching for any signs of indoor shelter with AC.
I’m In Longview
Love being on stage with you ...even if just getting the vibe of it all through your video
Our yes indeed it is Rhett. Welcome to Texas!! This summer is especially brutal
I knew his voice sounded familiar...that sexy and I know it cover! Glad he's still rockin'
Great job to everyone
Of all the great content I've watched on your channel, the first 12 minutes is my favorite video so far! Thanks for letting us see that come together.
Is that the Jimi Hendrix coil cable you’re playing through?
Welcome to my home, South Padre Island and the RGV where its hot, humid, and hell for germanium fuzzes🤣🤘🏼
It’s tough playing shows for dead crowds. Another case where the music is too good for the audience. Great stuff!
This was probably a top 3 and not 3 Backstage Journal Episode
Fun stuff!
Also, it’s sometimes said “a band is only as good as their drummer”. They have a great drummer! 👍
I have been a fan for a number of years now, and I can say that this rehearsal segment at the start of the video is the thing I've appreciated and enjoyed most, ever. It's great to see how a band of pro's build an idea and how they sound at their rawest. Fantastic. Wish you made more of those.
The rehearsal footage is just so fun! Thanks for keeping those long "figuring it out" sections, in there!
Really cool watching you build Survivors like that!
First, the band is fantabulous!! I hope to see you live someday. Second, playing in New Mexico in the summer is no joke. We demanded some kind of shade and eventually bought a gig tent. Keep the flame alive!
Oh dear, It is a brutal time to be in Texas. Be safe and don't let this heat kill any of your equipment!
Great video - fun and instructive to watch another band's rehearsal process.
Ahhh, finally i heard again the rhett shull immortal riff 1:46
Y’all are gonna be 20 minutes from me on the Springfield MO date. You guys sound great!!
Stop using those ridiculous 3 guitar stands! There is many just as easily transported, BETTER options.
