Lyrics:
Turn my mic up louder I got to say something
Light weights step to the side when we come in
Feel it in your chest the syllables get pumping
People on the street they panic and start running
Words on loose leaf sheet complete coming
I jump in my mind and summon the rhyme, I'm dumping
Healing the blind I promise to let the sun in
Sick of the dark ways we march to the drum and
Jump when they tell us that they wanna see jumping
Fuck that I wanna see some fists pumping
Risk something, take back what's yours
Say something that you know they might attack you for
Cause I'm sick of being treated like I have before
Like it's stupid standing for what I'm standing for
Like this war's really just a different brand of war
Like it doesn't cater the rich and abandon poor
Like they understand you in the back of the jet
When you can't put gas in your tank
These fuckers are laughing their way to the bank and cashing the cheque
Asking you to have compassion and have some respect
For a leader so nervous in an obvious way
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay
And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day
In their living room laughing like "what did he say?"
[Chorus:]
Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen
In my living room watching but I am not laughing
Cause when it gets tense I know what might happen
World is cold the bold men take action
Have to react or get blown into fractions
Ten years old it's something to see
Another kid my age drugged under a jeep
Taken and bound and found later under a tree
I wonder if he had thought the next one could be me
Do you see the soldiers they're out today
They brush the dust from bullet proof vests away
It's ironic at times like this you pray
But a bomb blew the mosque up yesterday
There's bombs in the buses, bikes, roads
Inside your market, your shops, your clothes
My dad he's got a lot of fear I know
But enough pride inside not to let that show
My brother had a book he would hold with pride
A little red cover with a broken spine
On the back, he hand-wrote a quote inside
When the rich wage war it's the poor who die
Meanwhile, the leader just talks away
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay
And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day
both scared and angry like "what did he say?"
[Chorus x6]
[x6]
With hands held high into the sky so blue,
As the ocean opens up to swallow you.
"When the rich wage war are the poor who die"
This sentense goes deep :(
yet that grammar does not
when the rich wage war it's the poor who die"
"there's bombs on the busses, bikes, roads, inside your markets, your shops, your clothes"
this holds so much truth. we live in a terrible world..
There is much more beautiful to find than terrible. For every bad you can find an equivalent "good", and if you forgive unconscious evil and praise conscious good, then you may find yourself taking a break from worries and cynic thoughts and seeing humanity and our world as imperfect and yet divine, a marvellous _existence_.
This song always gives my confident when ever something bad happens It like they knew what was coming Next
Linkin park's best song. Heard this a few years ago and forgot about it, and now that I heard it again I can't stop replaying it.
Long live the veterans of war and their good memories, thank you all for serving to protect us here at home, and to those who sadly didn't make it back, thank you for giving your lives for us, you will not be forgotten.
the world needs more songs like this.
i feel so sorry for all the families who have loved ones that are fighting in the war.i cant even imagine how their pain must feel :(
my favorite part: "My dad he's got a lot of fear I know
But enough pride inside not to let that show
My brother had a book he would hold with pride
A little red cover with a broken spine
On the back, he hand-wrote a quote inside
When the rich wage war it's the poor who die"
I like it because its so well written and so well thought out. The quote is very nice and the tongue twister part is cool because Mike sings it perfectly in the song....:')
My older brother, he saw his best friend get shot in Iraq years ago. He never cried when he was at my house, but he's been traumatized by this. Just horrific. Thank you for posting this. He loves Linkin Park, but he hasn't heard this song.
ive seen 4 tours 75th ranger regiment delta unit love this song thanks for the dedicated girl that uploaded this song
love that song so much...
anyway, soldiers in every war are admirable that they are brave enough to fight for their opinions and rights
this song is one of the best ever
"when the rich wage war it's the poor who die" that line is so true and so touching=/
this gave me the chills this is so real
I have no words. This song is AMAZING. R.I.P Victims Of War
I listen to this song in memory of My cousin. And it makes me think of my dad everyday.
I love Linkin park, and I love this song! :) xx
This song is incredibly powerful. I don't care if people don't like Linkin Park anymore or not. This song brings tears to my eyes each time I watch it. This song has personal meaning to so many.
Thank you, When my father was deployed in Iraq I always used to listen to songs like this and I usually never saw a message to the families about just hangging on and wait until he came home. Luckly for me he did, he won the bronze star for making a medical manual for the Iraqi police and military which their old one looked like a preschooler made it but he saw truely horrible things. So thank you it really helps because now My cousin who basicly live at my house is in Afganistan.
THE BEST LYRICS I'VE EVER HEARD, AND MAYBE THE BEST I EVER WILL!!
This song is Linkin Park's most expressive song. This is a message. I think it does a pretty fair job, for sure.
"say something you know they might attack you for"
I'M GAY!!!
Kikyo The NerdTM You wrote this 4 months ago and all you got was 2 likes. So much for attacks amirite?
That's gayyyy
I believe in America...DONT BURN MY FLAG !!!
Lol if only...
Nowadays, yelling out that you’re straight might get you attacked
How can people dislike this song... Just wonderful, thank you Skyeebllue and thank you LP.
Finally, someone who isn't a bonehead and thinks our military kills innocent civilians intentionally. I'm not in the service, but I appreciate and realize what you guys go through. Thank you for you service!
Linkin Park is the one and only band in the 21st century who can still make songs having a deep meaning. Their each and every word is filled with metaphors and hundreds of feelings. I love Linkin Park...!!
+Kaustubh Gokhale it is one but definitely not the only
One of the most beautiful songs of LP
this video means alot to me and espiecally the people whom there family are in war, linkin park is trying to make us feel the pain in every child's heart which his parents and family are in war, we all love Linkin Park
This song made me cry it was so emotional and moving.... loved it.
I almost cried watching this. I don't have any family or friends in the war, but I do have a cousin who wants to join the airforce, and my mom has a friend who's son wants to join the marines. I just pray this war will end soon before it gets out of hand.
My dad has been in the army for 14 years, ever since I was born. He has been to Iraq twice. The first time, he was gone for a full year with only one week of R&R, the second was 5 months. He has missed birthdays, Christmases, Thanksgivings, more than once. But to know that he is away protecting our country, our freedom. It's damn worth it. Thank you Linkin Park for sending this song out for people who have no idea what this world is like. Amen LP.
This song makes me cry so much, it makes me think of all the people who died because of that stupid war.
For my social justice class in highschool, we had to choose a song with deep righ meaning and relate it to world events/views/or whatever...i picked this song!Linkin park's lyrics have always been deep; whether they talk about pain or heartache or war or never giving up...they always speak the truth in such a poetic way. it's beautiful to hear such meaning put to such good music! got perfect on my assignment too...with bonus marks :D!! Thanks you Linkin Park!!!
My brother is a marine and this song helps me alot. Thanks for the Lyrics :D
as likin park said "with hands held high into a sky so blue a ocean opens up to swallow you" very good message

"When The Rich Wage War, I'ts The Poor Who Die."
RIP Mike.
Love You And Miss You.
i love this son, it actually gives me shiver, to think of the deep meanings in this song, and for to be constructed so well, I can't stop re-playing this song because it actually makes me quite emotional to think about all of our brave troops out there, best of luck to all of them.
this song never gets old
the best song by them i believe. so incredibly real and beautiful.
Thanks ((: I hope your dad returns safely ! I'm honored to have you share this with him. Best of luck to you, mate.
Still my favorite song that any band has ever written.
This song, for however you agree to the political content in it or not, is just amazing. The pure perfectness of expressing ones thoughts and feelings is the true treasure inside this masterpiece of art.
Thank you for this video!! :D I have a friend in the war and I get worried about him sometimes. Thanks For the great video!
get chills every time i sing along with it, maybe one of their most powerful songs
Beautifully done. I still get goose-bumps when I hear this song.
"When the rich wage war,it's the poor who die." At least these guys feel the magnitude of the truth of that quote, while others just dont get it.
I recommended this song to my followers at Instagram. It was really amazing ! :D love Linkin park
I have been looking for this song for a very....very.... long time.
You are right that it isn't the only war. And although this song happens to be talking about that one, I'm sure the message and the emotion behind it can be appreciated by anyone, anywhere, about any war. That's kind of what makes this song so beautiful, and sad. Even if one war ends, another will begin, so it is timeless, and it extends beyond borders and cultures.
i appreciate anyone's service in any branch of the military and i respect veterans very greatly and i think they shud be more appreciated than they are
this song is great. I love the soft music behind the rap!!!!
OH.MY.GOD.
Mike's One Of The Most Meaningful Rapppers Ever
Best Shinoda's rap after Faint. Absolutely fantastic song, fantastic message, fantastic lyrics and timing. Monster music.
My great grandpa died October 23 2013 at 97 and his song reminds me of him he was a strong person was a pilot in ww2 r.i.p great grandpa we miss you sooooooo much

My father was in the Navy for 11 years I'm so happy that he served I love this song and vid :)
There is a place for war in the world. There always was. People who really believe that peace is the standard for humanity clearly don't know history. Yes, it sucks, and yes, people get hurt. But that doesn't change the fact that people suck too. When one man plots for peace, another plots for war. What kills some feeds others. That's how the world has always worked, as far as life is concerned. So let people fight. Find your people, and fight with them. Find your reason and your resolve. Or you could cling to peace, and let someone else fight for you, that works too. Regardless, life is a continuous battle, and we're all sitting somewhere in that controlled chaos, fighting.
I can see where your coming from but still. I disagree with you.
And you're welcome to. I don't expect everyone to blindly agree with me just because I said it haha.
drago2021 Thanks. I know a lot of people who just say I'm a dick for not agreeing with them and for that you have my respect because you responded politely. :D
Truest statement I've ever hurd
+Duncan M ur a duck
very touching and serious song and the sad part is ... it's actually happening to a lot of people around the world. I just hope all the wars end soon and that there is world peace.
The song is so godlike but what you write before the song start is so epic!
I really wanna make a cover of this. It's a really deep song that I think deserves to be heard by all.
Too bad I sound really weird when I rap certain songs ;(
I'll rap it 4 u :P

this was the song that played in my dream last night,,,about my ex, some bs then this song started playing, she walked past her new bf, past her family and friends. walked right up to me, hugged me, telling me how sorry she is for cheating on me and everything....then the music stops and her fading voice says "i love you, its all a dream, its in your head and oneday it will all be the same" a long pause then i here a muffled "i will be home soon" ....im still here...home alone

The best line of the song.
my brother was in war and it changed him he hasnt talked to me since i was 5 im 13 now every time i think of his name i cry i miss him and i dedicate this song to him
Seriously? Soldiers are dying, fighting for what they think its worth and your best comment is that? The first step for peace is respect in all aspects of life, if you have nothing better to say then don't say anything. And thats with you too Arda Çelik.
beautiful song hit close to home for me.
