    Quixel doesn't have a plugin for the 2.9 yet, it would've been helpful if you were to show the workaround (yes it can be done) instead of making the same tutorial that already exists out there!
    That being said here's how you work around bridge for blender 2.9
    1. Manually download the plugin or look inside your brige plugins folder, copy the plugin.
    2. Navigate to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.90
    3. Create a new folder and rename it to "scripts". Within the scripts folder create a subfolder and rename it to "startup".
    4. Paste the MSPlugin folder in the startup folder.
    Launch blender, enable the plugin and done!

      I used *2.90* with Bridge! Yes, 2.91 is not yet supported.
      If you think I was wasting my time making a tutorial PEOPLE REQUESTED - then why did you waste your time watching it and then commenting?

      @@JSAbbott what you do with your time is entirely upto you, that being said I never said anything otherwise "it would've been helpful" which you clearly find offensive? Idk man what are you a kid? I'm not trying to bully you or anything just saying. Besides I happen to stumble upon your video while looking for a solution to why my quixel bridge doesn't export. 🤞

      @@bigdamnhero2297 I already said that I did in fact use this in 2.9. I now know it doesn't work in 2.91 but I don't use Mixer anymore so I haven't kept up with the changes.
      I'm sorry I became so defensive. I have just had a lot of negative attitudes in my comments lately which doesn't excuse me being a jerk. I'm sorry.

    Thanks for keeping us up to date, Jen.
    I was playing around with Bridge using Blender 2.83, then found out it could be used with 2.90 and 2.91, but the instructions for getting it to work with a fresh install of the plugin don't work if it's already installed with another Blender version.
    So I did some playing around and found a procedure I'd like share:
    - go to the location where settings are stored (on Windows, that's in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender,
    - drill down by Blender version to the scripts folder) and find the startup folder,
    - copy the startup folder along with its contents to the corresponding folder into the scripts folder of the new Blender version, and
    - paste.
    Works like a charm.

    My main concern is how to get an actual object modelled in Blender, textured in Blender (with or without Bridge) or even used PBR materials and export to Mixer. Then do the job in Mixer nd reimport it into Blender.
    The only workaround in my head, but I will try tonight at home, is to export with textures FBX and somehow to generate also the textures. Then to reexport back even if losing the PBR totally. I will check it tonight. I hope in a Blender - Mixer plugin, like in Bridge. To choose an object, that export automatically and send back.
    Also at fist test (I started to check Mixer from today) is that cannot generate UV if not exist. I got a model where a small part missed the UV and for this not imported at all.

    • @JSAbbott
      @JSAbbott  3 года назад +1

      I've already shown how to make a model in Blender and then import it into Mixer (ruclips.net/video/jAwXvf1A5mI/видео.html). All you need to do to bring it back into Blender is export the textures and then use then in the Shader Editor in Blender.

    • @ValicsLehel

      @@JSAbbott Thank you, I will check.

    • @ValicsLehel
      @ValicsLehel 3 года назад

      I have checked and my expectation was to load also the textures automatically, but I see need to be loaded manually.
      What I will want to try, cause my workflow is non destructive, to have in Blender the basic texturing and then to get from Mixer the cavities, edges, dirt, etc.
      So I think, not sure yet, that I can do the same workflow like you mentioned, then on export to delete the base textures and export the textures with alpha channels.
      Then in Blender to mix the 2-3 textures.
      In this way, if I change my mind later and I want to change the base texture from wood 1 to wood 2 type, I just change the base texture and the rest, curvature, dirt etc will remain already done for that particular model.
      Also an another advantage I see that if I have 2-3-4 mesh with same texture, but different scultping, then I will have 1 base texture and 2-3-4 dirt/curvature etc maps.
      Correct me please if my thinking is not correct. I think this is how I will want to try it.

    • @JSAbbott
      @JSAbbott  3 года назад +1

      @@ValicsLehel Anything you do in Mixer is "non-destructive" as long as you are not painting directly on the mesh. Combining textures from Mixer with those from Blender is completely possible.

    Wow this is beautiful. Exactly what I was looking for. I've not used Mixer much, but I wanted to ask, what if I make multiple layer textures on an object in Mixer and then export? Does Mixer combine all the textures so it can be used in Blender (seeing as blender can't use multiple layer textures like Mixer)?
    Thanks.

    All the textures from bridge can be downloaded, even without tag free. Can i use all their textures for commercial projects for free?

    • @JSAbbott
      @JSAbbott  3 года назад +1

      You need to read their license very carefully. If you want to use all of the textures and/or the models, you can only do so for free if you use them in Unreal Engine.
      The actual software (Bridge and Mixer) is free to use but the textures and models are not all free to use (except in Unreal).

      @@JSAbbott so if i render animation in UE, it's free right? But what if work in blender?How would they find out that i render it it Blender?

    • @JSAbbott
      @JSAbbott  3 года назад +1

      @@CekTopGaZa1988 From what I've read (and please do you own research - I'm not a lawyer or giving legal advice), if you are just doing a render you are fine using it in Blender. If you are using the textures/objects in a game, animation, or something you are selling then you are restricted by whatever license you choose.
      Here is an official Quixel page that could help you: help.quixel.com/hc/en-us/community/topics/360000089917-Terms-Licensing
      This is a specific answer about using their products in Blender: "Your understanding is correct. Unreal Unlimited plans are only licensed for usage within Unreal Engine.
      If you'd like to work with Blender, you'll need a paid subscription plan to do so, regardless of whether the purpose is commercial or educational."

    Hey, great tutorial. I have done everything step by step but when I open the local library in mixer I cannot toggle the eye because in the e layers section is simply nothing available as on the right-hand side - there are no layers listed. That's why I cannot eg pick another texture. Any idea how to make that visible? I use blender 2.91.0 and have just started / installed to use quixel and mixer today
    best wishes

    • @JSAbbott
      @JSAbbott  3 года назад

      Are you talking about the layers in Mixer itself?

    • @blockschmidt
      @blockschmidt 3 года назад

      @@JSAbbott yes, exactly. I see NO layer listed when after I presses LOAD

    • @JSAbbott
      @JSAbbott  3 года назад

      @@blockschmidt You must download a material or model from Mixer before it will show up in your local library. You just look for whatever you want and click on the thumbnail to download it.
      If you are trying to get from Mixer to Blender you need something (like a plane) in Blender for it to work. If you want to work within Mixer, you simply start a new Mix and then open the material within Mixer.

    Thanks a lot for the tutorial! Do you know by any chance if there is an option to pick low poly versions of objects? I remember in an older version there was a dropdown for LODs to export to blender but now that seems to not be there anymore.

    • @JSAbbott
      @JSAbbott  3 года назад +1

      You're welcome.
      I don't know of any way to get low-poly versions. You could bring them into Blender and use the decimate modifier to make a low-poly version.

    • @JSAbbott
      @JSAbbott  3 года назад

      Some things are free to use. The actual software is free for everyone but most of the textures and the 3D scans require a subscription. If you use Mixer exclusively for Unreal Engine then you can get a free subscription.
