What are some of your dream worlds to create in 3D for your artworks? 3D is an amazing tool for artists, and I want to show you my workflow. Excellent tut! It would be cool if the ships were flying, and the camera was following them, as well as circling around them. Maybe the whole animation would be 6 seconds long. How long do you think that would take to render?
A lot of people think 3D is more difficult and complex than it actually is and never end up trying it. I'm always a fan of something like this that helps show people that it can be easier than they realize. Plus, it can help you cheat a bit on things like perspective and lighting which can speed up the workflow.
Those people are right. Here he doesn’t really make a 3d scene, he just set a composition using quite basic functions. Create a 3d landscape is much more complex. Btw the intention here is to show how a basic 3d setup can help creating gorgeous landscapes, and this really work!!
@@AtrusDesign Those people are not right. 3D is not difficult or complex. It just takes a bit of work and practice like every other creative process. When people think of 3D, they usually go straight to thinking of only sculpting, which is more difficult. But hard-surface modeling is actually quite easy once you start to learn the actual program. Making something look photo-realistic in 3D can be as easy as slapping a texture on a flat surface and adding bump mapping. It just comes down to what your goal is. BTW I'm a 3D modeler who started watching this channel to improve on my digital art skills. So I am coming at this from the other direction.
Of course I make a 3D scene :) And anyone reading this, I'll teach you in the course exactly how it all works with how you can model things from scratch, how to do hard surface modeling, sculpting, how texture maps work, node setups and math mindsets, all kinds of useful knowledge in 3D so you can confidently create your own 3D scenes and make Concept Art and even animations from them, creating assets, rendering software, get a solid understanding of the basics of 3D and Blender, and go on to more complex 3D scenes and explore more on your own. Hope to see ya there! Best, W.
3d modelling is frustrating, and it's not easy unless you're making simple shapes js..as someone using blender since over 1 year. At some point it would be easy for you to model just about any shapes.and yet will never get passed the frustration ,try creating an entire landscape on a low tier PC .
I think 3d is much more complex than most other forms of art, but not that much more difficult. Yes there are an insane number of stuff to know in 3d (modelling, lighting, rendering, uv editing, compositing, retopology, materials and much, much more), but in drawing for example this just translates to more theorical knowledge about lighting, perspective, anatomy etc. As a Blender user who tries to learn drawing, I find it so much more difficult to draw than doing 3d
The video i needed! Im just now starting to learn blender after making concepts on photoshop and procreate for years, i wanted to step up my game but good tutorials are rare. Thanks!
Hello, great lesson, thank you so much. I think it would be even greater whenever you use hot keys or shortcuts, they are shown on the screen, because sometimes I am lost when a window just appears out of nowhere (talking about 4:33 in particular, I'm completely new to Blender) . Thank you again!
For me its actually the otherway around, I am really good in 3D, but am clueless when it comes to 2D drawing or painting. This did help to get some motivation!
That is really cool stuff, for creating Terrain Scenes. Note that the Blender Render, has a Save As Image Button, Under Image, ratehr than Taking a Screenshot.
Nice job! I will say, as an artist, it makes me nervous that I didn't see you save your project! But maybe I missed that and you saved it in the beginning! Nice workflow!
Awesome that's a great complement to it, and since you know cameras it'll be much easier to figure out focal lengths and such in 3D. Ha en grym sommar och håll dig uppdaterad om kursen!! Mvh, W.
I was looking for something like this yesterday, and then I log onto RUclips today, and you've posted this! I can't wait to mix 3D with digital painting and see what I can make. Thank you, Walid, for always making such awesome videos and content 😊 God sommer!
Started really dabbling with 3d in the last 3 weeks, and it is the most fun I've had in my artistic journey. It's like playing with Legos on steroids. The only thing I am worried about is not honing my painting and drawing skills more, I am afraid I am using it as a crutch and neglecting improving my actual art skills, what do you think?
Don't get so hung up on certain details, just start doing things that you enjoy and over time your skill sets will expand. Art is subjective, there's no right or wrong, as long as you are happy with what you're doing and you enjoy it. I started 3d art way back around 1999/2000.
This is exactly the idea I’ve been planning for my own artwork except I use Daz Studio, still haven’t got round to learning Blender yet! Thanks for this.
Thanks for this tutorial! It was the right pacing for me to get itchy trying it out and so I did! Man these possibilities are endless! Keep up the great work :)
Great video Walid, for anyone new to Blender if they take time to go over the concepts you have discussed here they will learn so much and get a great head start. Really useful video.
What What What!. I know somewhat blender but always wondered about painting such scenes, especially because I struggle with perspective. This is so cool idea, I can be an artist too now. :). Thanks bro.
I have always wanted to learn how to create my own trailer music album covers. I want to learn how to create utopian landscapes for my album artwork and also something very similar to Audiomachine or Atom Music Audio's album artwork. So looking forward to this course!
I've been a 2d artist for quite awhile and I've always been intimidated by 3d. I just started trying to learn it finally and I hope it really is as easy as you make it look!
Hi, awesome tutorial, thx! May you help, whats the hotkey do you use at 4:30 opening window with whole set of texture? Instead of adding them separately
For 3d landscapes, i would recommend software like GAEA or world creator. both have a node based work flow which is great for people with some experience in blender or unreal and such and they generate amazing results. In the case of gaea, you can get a nice looking island with just a handful of nodes already its awesome and magnitudes better than the simple layered noise that blender uses
Gaea has a "free" version but you are limited with what you can create and as for World creator, too expensive! I detest software that has annual renewals for licensing, thats pure greedy.
Great tutorial! I'm curious about one thing, what's heavier on the final render? Displacement or Geometry? I tried to find the answer online, but wasn't able to find a comparison. Is Displacement used because it's easier to set up and less intrusive, or because it recuses render times over Geometry? Perhaps it evens out?!?!?! :)
Geometry is a CPU intensive calculation, and you slow down pretty much everything while working with high numbers of polygons. I like to work with low numbers. You could also do multires subdivision and set it to be higher on render but honestly I love Displacement :) I think do some tests and see how you like to work the most. It's nice to see the actual geometry sometimes as well. W.
@@WalidFeghali Appreciate it. I just got a new pc intel 9 12gen/32GB Ram + an RTX 3080 Ti to eliminate all the lag I have been facing after learning blender. Would be shame to not optimize how I actually use Blender too. But yeah, thanks, Ill experiment with more displacement from now on!!:)
Walid its nice to meet you, i stumbled across this video and i think i found a new hobby! this is amazing, keeo up your amazing work. i also wanted to say how beatiful the waterfall looks, and how talented you are! keep up the good work! :)
Awesome work! Character modeling tips would be great. Especially for those who doesn't have a graphic tablet 😬, I find it difficult to use the brushes in Blender, for details using the mouse.
Hi! Do you mean organic sculpting? I would get a pack of brushes somewhere online that works great for character and creature sculpting, such as skin, bones, organic textures, scales, etc. A tablet is definitely a good idea to get as well, you can try Huion, they're cheaper and work just fine. I'd also learn a bit of rigging. Start simple and take your way up from there. Best, W.
