I don't get why the dragons were so against it. Many guys buy the ring themselves, and then propose, so there is no input from the girl until she has it sized for the wedding band.
Kelly was especially weird in her opinion. "I want to go ring shopping and try it on" immediately followed by "I'd want a guy to propose with a real ring!"

I think the guy's mistake was going just for Engagement Rings. People love customization. That's why Nike have over 1 million combinations of their shoe range to choose from on their website. And in the years between then and now 3d printed rings have become a thing which can be done in gold, platinum or anything. Go and check out successful companies in that space like Rogue and Wolf where they do batched runs of 1,000 per design at value prices.

Seems the real issue was they thought it was too easy for a bigger jewler to just copy what that guy is doing and take all his business.

When Kelly said something like 'it [the ring] will stay on that finger FOREVER', I think Duncan reacted like that because he's been through a(n eextremely costly) divorce already. Obviously because he loved the woman and he didn't have a prenup drawn up, which ended up costing him £345M.

This is really a good idea and it’s growing in popularity.
These services are more affordable. Many give you the option for real or synthetic stones, birthstones and diamonds. Older diamonds that have been resold and no longer create profit for wars and slavery.
It also caters to the couples starting new traditions and enjoy sitting at a computer together, designing something unique to them.
Having a custom engagement ring is far more special and beautiful, especially if your significant other designed it or you designed it together.
The idea is fantastic, and he stated that it's more affordable.

A average cost of 3,000 pounds (~$3,750) for an engagement ring is a great price. Honestly cutting out the middle man is an awesome idea that will cut costs way down on the end customer -- which is probably why the dragons were against it.

Kelly is dead wrong about this business in my opinion. Especially the low-cost 'proposal ring' I think is a really creative way of allowing people to propose but also allowing them to change the ring after the proposal. I proposed to my amazing fiance a few years ago and I can tell you that I would have used this service.
She wants to pick her ring out yet wants to be surprised with an already purchased real ring. She made zero sense
