    • @calsmyth4483
      @calsmyth4483 2 года назад +13

      Why exactly do you think that? A business that is easy to copy with a low barrier to entry is generally the exact type of business that needs rapid growth to survive. Otherwise someone else will beat you to it.

    • @dennisreynolds1503
      @dennisreynolds1503 2 года назад +3

      @@calsmyth4483 I would also agree with what you're saying. Theres no reason say rightmove could just create a studentmove website and blow them out the water completely. Already established companies could snap his idea in a second and do it better. A lot of people do go on there for the exposure but he really could use a dragon on his side to get the business growing exponentially faster.

    • @trunderwood
      @trunderwood 2 года назад

      Not at all. This is a classic case for VC, growth over revenue investment. Growing organically forces you to capture revenue and that’s a distraction for a business like this.

      @@calsmyth4483 In tech, you either become successful on the merits of your platform or you don't.. Facebook would not be bleeding users if money could buy engagement. Then again, it's just my opinion - I'm not an expert and I welcome all opinions that may make me smarter 👍👍

    • @calsmyth4483
      @calsmyth4483 2 года назад +1

      @@the_endling You really don't understand tech at all if you think you just "get there on your merits". You don't - it's not the first idea that wins, it's the most rapidly funded and promoted that does.
      Your argument only makes sense for a business that is highly unique and is difficult to copy - this is neither of those things. The ONLY thing that will make it win is getting to the top first - and slow organic growth will never do that.

      All that will happen in this case is that dragons will make less offers of they don't deem it worth it for 40% or less. Your regulation won't affect the outcome positively, only negatively. An entrepreneur has the right to accept or decline an offer from the dragons. Some might be happy to part with 60% and be worth 4 million is a few years. They may consider this a success. Others can say no and walk away. People are capable of making these decisions and don't need fiat imposed upon their decision making process. This man aptly exemplifies that no regulation is needed because he says no and walks away.

    Good that he didn’t shake on that ridiculous offer from two heartless flesh eaters dragons !!
    What bugs me is Doug believes the business could grow and will be worth millions in 4 years time ! Yet still he wanted to break this poor bugger’s
    b⚽️⚽️ls
    And take a huge chunk of the business.
    Absolutely not fair
    Good on ya Rachel 👍🏻
