BEST...BAND...EVER. I heard their album entitled Fragile in 1971 when I was 17 years old and fell in love with them. In 1972 they released the album entitled Close to the Edge. Since then I've been patiently waiting for 51 years to hear music as good as Yes. I'm satisfied at this point that it's not going to happen. Thanks!!for the reaction. 😁
What you have just heard is one of the "simplest" examples of the Progressive Rock that YES created at that time. YES was a very experimental band, creating music like no others. Most of their masterpieces involve a _lot_ more complexity of orchestration & featured something rather unique in rock bands, then or since, in that their virtuoso bass player's contributions (Chris Squire) were given an emphasis in the mix that is usually given to the lead guitarist. The result was wondrous, to my ears. Also, the one thing you heard in this song that you will hear in all YES songs is their emphasis on vocal harmonies. You'll see... I recommend you stick with this album, The Yes Album, as it has 2 of their absolute masterpieces *Yours Is No Disgrace* and *Starship Trooper.* The whole album is great, actually, but if you only intend to sample their best, then you can't miss those two astonishingly good musical creations...
YES is the greatest progressive rock band in my opinion. I just subscribed. I subscribe to anyone who reacts to them as will many other YES fans so keep them coming. Loads of greats including "Roundabout", "Awaken", "The Gates of Delirium", "Close to the Edge", "And You and I", "Turn of the Century", "Starship Trooper", "Perpetual Change", "The Revealing Science of God", lots more.
Ladies and gentlemen Chris Squire and Yes, the greatest show on earth. Enjoy your YES journey it will fill you with the divine. Roundabout should be your next journey 🙏🎶
That was such a great reaction! 😂 Im 22 and this is by far my favorite group. You'll love their catalog. And if you listen to more, im definitely looking forward to seeing your reactions to Close to The Edge and Awaken down the road.
You should check out Roundabout that's probably their biggest hit but they have many other amazing songs. Starship Trooper, Yours is no disgrace and many others.
They have a zillion amazing songs. They are spectacular. I suggest Roundabout next. They get quite proggy starting with the Fragile album, and really kick into high gear on the Close To The Edge album. Though some people who don't like prog so much, prefer stuff from The Yes Album, or stuff from the 80's and early 90's line-up. They had a lot of member changes, they are still together and making new music, though not what they used to be. The singer is still sounding great and touring and making new music - he is where it's at now. If you want more stuff from the Yes Album, go with Starship Trooper and Yours Is No Disgrace, but I prefer the live versions.
YES is the top of the mountain when it comes to progressive rock of the 1970’s, the height of this genre!Try And You And I, and Siberian Khatru. You will love it even more!
I love your enthusiasm for YES! Try anything from the album, Close to the Edge". Well, there is only 3 songs ("Close to the Edge", "And You and I" and "Siberian Khatru"). So, hoping you do more YES (that's why I subscribed).
You are in for some wonderful music, Enjoy They are all different and all the same, wonderful. Favorites ? Close to the Edge. Awaken. Turn of the Century. Perpetual Change. Would start my journey with Roundabout, prefer studio albums at first.
You're in for a spiritual awakening my brother, enjoy the journey and welcome to the YES family😁
