Chris Squire is always thought of as a phenomenal bass player. But his vocal abilities pairing with Jon were just magic...for DECADES. I miss him. Blessings
If you've ever seen his story about opening for Jimi Hendrix, I'd recommend it. He basically said that Noel Redding couldn't carry a tune at all, and Chris was like hey ill play any bass part you want! Lol could you imagine Jimi with Chris in his band?
I feel elation in my heart to see yet another generation discover half-century old music that was the soundtrack to my high school years in the mid/late seventies. Yes, even by their name, is simply the most positive band ever. And to see you being amazed and uncontrollably having to groove with it is priceless. No better band ever. Blessings.
It's almost inexpressible to describe watching your joy at hearing this album for the first time. This is one of my favorite albums, and at 63 years old and having heard this countless times over the years, it still is outstanding and never gets stale with each listen.
Isn't it great? I was so happy watching her drink it in and seeing the expressions of joy on her face. I wish I could have that same experience all over again.
I came of age in this era of great music. So fine to see a young person enjoy it. This music is so complex compared to the simplistic crap today. If todays corporate controlled music was a diet you would die of malnutrition.
I'm glad you recognize the greatest Era of modern music all these bands you've neen listening to are not just regular bands !!!!!!these all are best that ever was!!!!now a days they don't write well and don't produce masterpiece albums ,I keep leaving album suggestions and comments about the players and their names ,great music is like a true religion
Most rock music has one tempo with several repeated parts like verse, chorus, bridge, etc. Music by Yes and most prog rock, is more like classical with individual movements and musical themes which are developed and modified throughout the piece. You mentioned reacting to another Yes album in the future. I believe it will be one of many more to come. Welcome to the mind expanding world of Yes.
The combo of the music and your reaction brought a few tears to my eyes during "I've Seen All Good People" -- Verdy, you might be the most interesting girl in the world, lover of soccer and great music, high intelligence and of sweet disposition .... :-)
I LOVE it when you're discovering music that is so good that it just leaves you speechless. 'A couple of spots there where you seemed like you might cry just because of the beauty of it. I really find great pleasure in seeing how much you love music, how deeply you are moved by it. I really appreciate your spirit and how generous you are with what you're experiencing. Thank you, goodheart. 💙
one of many bands in the 70's,80's and its not to diminish them we all loved them but they weren't top billing on the concert scene, they would either play a smaller venue say 6,000 or team up with two other bands and do 15,000. again love YES, good reaction
Fortunately, you can play it over and over. Great music is timeless. But the set and setting within which it's experienced are critical to its enjoyment. I love watching people react to Yes for the first time. If they truly listen, REALLY hear, they smile.
I get to relive my discovery of this through your eyes. It's an emotional experience. You're just scratching the surface with Yes. There some masterpieces ahead of you!
Three voices actually. The highest is Jon Anderson, his usual counterpart is bass player / singer Chris Squire and then there's the more normal lower voice, that is guitar player Steve Howe. When the organ sets in, in the left channel you hear a recital of the John Lennon line: all we are saying is give peace a chance... All Good People is another of those incredible tracks. I really appreciate how you delve so deep into seventies albums, good for you!
You are correct sir but after CTTE Jon lost his upper c range, was never able to produce it live, thus in all following albums its Chris singing high c harmonies especially on Tales.
The melodies between Jon and Chris are perfect. So great to see someone so young, enjoying music I enjoyed when I was younger than you are now! I must have listened to this album about 100 times, but it still gives me joy.
I’ve seen all good people is such a great song, ! 👍 just an excellent album all around. Yes have produced so many, many albums over the years. You’ll have a long listening journey checking them out. Keep them on your channel!
Chris Squire only occasionally took lead vocals in Yes songs. His backing vocals are a vital part of the Yes sound. If you want to listen to him sing lead then listen to his solo album ‘Fish Out Of Water’. It also happens to be the best bass guitar album ever made.
Ladies and gentlemen YES the greatest show on earth. Enjoyed your reaction and enjoy your next listen to The Yes Album when you lay back and really absorb the genius of Yes. 🙏🍁
I would take the complexity and diversity of albums like this from the 70"s over most of what is being produced today. We used to sit down by ourselves, small groups of friends or large parties and enjoy these albums in full.
Beautiful reaction as always. This album defined their prog rock direction, the addition of virtuoso guitarist Steve Howe who also contributed significantly to the writing really took them to another level which they notched even higher on their following album Fragile with the addition of virtuoso keyboardist Rick Wakeman. They continued to push the boundaries throughout the decade. I hope the next Yes album you have lined up is Close to the Edge, it's generally considered to be the greatest prog rock album of all time & the title track the greatest prog rock composition. To say it will blow your mind is an understatement!! Best wishes
You sould listen "Drama" album, 1980 with Trevor Horn on vocals and Geoff Downes on keyboards, together they formed the Buggles, of them you will surely have heard Video Killed The Radio Star.
GOING FOR THE ONE Is a must listen. Its Subline, I was at the Concert all 3 nights. The music is ethereal, Verdy YOU WILL LOVE IT!! ANOTHER REQUEST, YOU WILL, ABSOLUTELY BE IN AWE. "AWAKEN" IS A GORGEOUS MASTERPIECE 🎹🎹🎶🎵🎶❤
If you like this, wait till you hear the rest of the Albums!!! Tales from Topographic Oceans, Going for the One, Fragile, Close to the Edge, 90125, Yessongs, Yesshows !!!
The best gift? Now you get to listen to "The Yes Album" as much as you want! Listening to this for the thousandth time while watching this, I'll tell you...this album still thrills me.
The "Instant Karma" phrases and the chorus in the background at 4:00 "All we are saying is give peace a chance" are shout-outs to two John Lennon songs. ✌😎
Of their monumental three lp's, this album is my favorite. The second song told the whole story of this album which was the first to feature Steve Howe on lead guitar. The Clap is what this band did when he auditioned. The song is Yes's way of saying to the world, Holey Smokes!! Look what we got!!😊
I know you gave a live version of "Close to the Edge" a go. I'll kindly suggest listening to the studio album. It's transcendent. I think it is their best. And the three albums of "The Yes Album", "Fragile" and "Close to the Edge" are perhaps the best back to back to back effort I've seen from any band.
Easy to forget that poor Tony Kaye was replaced by Rick Wakeman - he does a great job on keyboards - but has to be said Rick lifted the band into the stratosphere!
It's a true pleasure seeing your enthusiastic reaction to the music I listened to growing up int he 70s. I look forward to your review of the albums Yessongs, Close to the Edge, and Relayer.
"I've Seen All Good People" is one of the two very greatest progressive rock songs about Chess. The other one is Pink Floyd's "Country Song (The Red Queen Theme)".
This was a terrific reaction video! I am 10 months too late with my response. I saw Yes start a concert with Perpetual Change, and it was such a surprise! I love your reactions!
At least you've discovered that prog rock is almost ALWAYS AOR (album oriented rock) and the whole album deserves a listen. You should do the double album by Genesis - 'The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway' at some point, it was arguably the height of Peter Gabriel era Genesis.
Makes me SO nostalgic to get back in time and see this band in their prime one more time. Some of the greatest concert experiences of my life. I love King Crimson, ELP, Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull...but Yes is the greatest prog band of all time. Warms my heart to see someone really appreciate this music the same way we did when it first come out.
Love your channel ! I've listened to a couple of albums with you already 😀 I grew up on this classic Rock as a child who's parents were both in Rock and Roll bands. Band practice at my house 2 nights a week plus gigs every weekend. They covered all of this music and I love seeing folks reaction to it ! Great content 👍
Bill Bruford once said the middle section with the two overlapping parts was really hard to arrange cause they didn't have a professionally trained musician in the band yet like they were about to with Rick Wakeman but that it was a very good education for them.
Yes était un super groupe, et il te reste tant de grands album à découvrir du plus grand band de prog ever. Je les ai vu deux fois live en 1974 et 1998.
Keep it up girl. U remind me a lot of me when l first got turned on to Yes. Even the way u move ur hands to the music l do the same thing… thx for making me appreciate their music once again. ❤
I commented on your Side 1 reaction that I was eager to see your reaction to Your Move on Side 2. Had a feeling you would be Moved. What is strange is that I listen to songs that are familiar to me differently when I listen to people's first reactions. Interesting. Great reaction videos to this album. Back in Edinburgh when I was a lot younger my sisters brother-in-law and I spent a summer playing chess through the weekend nights for an entire summer and we played only 2 albums...this and Steve Howes debut solo album, Beginnings. Seems so long ago. He returned to Canada and I am presently in Nashville. Anynow...thumbs up.
Very, the next time you are around 'old' people, think of them fifty years back... And remember that they are probably just the same inside now. ☺ Thanks. From England.
These songs live on "Yessongs" sound just as good or better. Jon Anderson's voice just kept getting better for a long long time, but they went into more experimental symphonic long long loooooong pieces for a while, and lost a bit of the psychedelic rock edge until regaining it in 1978 with Tormato. "Yessongs" is the best Yes live album of the 70s and rocks it out. "Relayer" is probably only listenable after hearing Yessongs but is about the most radical change-up for the band. Of course "Awaken" from Going for the One needs to be on the list of songs, it is like going to space church. I was always "put off" by Perpetual Change because of the "stirched in" breaks that seemed to not make sense and the abrupt total change of mood and tempo. But on "Yessongs" it made sense because they had it all worked out as a live performance piece; one of the best on the album. "All Good People" is practically a Beatles song, mixed with the acapella round folksy vocals that a lot of groups were known for. Also there was a lot of wars going in the early 70s, and the peace movement led by Bob Dylan, John Lennon, George Harrison, Joan Baez, and other musicians was gaining steam against Viet Nam and in Ireland with the NRA troubles there was pressure for peace accords. It has become a fan favorite, but never got too much airplay.
@@frankshailes3205 My favorites are Close to the Edge and Awaken, then G.O.D. (Gates of Delirium), but there are so many great bits here and there to choose from.
This is a Fantastic Yes album!!! Thank you for your wonderful reaction to it, it is a Classic album and I love to see someone your age just simply blown away by it! Like I was back in the 70s!!!
Yes is best. This was on constant play on the radio the Summer of ‘71, and what a great season for music! Maggie May, Won’t Get Fooled Again, LA Woman, Mercy Mercy Me, Beginnings were just some of the new songs filling the air at the beaches in Chicago back then. Thanks for sharing great music with your generation. Love your reactions!✌️❤️🎶
Those of us who were born in the fifties had no expectation from music. Some of us were born with the gift of being able to feal the music. The first two albums by Yes were the cats meow.
I love the moodiness of a venture. It kind of goes to that same mystical neighborhood that long-distance run around does. I've heard most yes hundreds of times and it's kind of one of my secret favorite gems
Chris Squire is always thought of as a phenomenal bass player. But his vocal abilities pairing with Jon were just magic...for DECADES.
I miss him.

If you've ever seen his story about opening for Jimi Hendrix, I'd recommend it. He basically said that Noel Redding couldn't carry a tune at all, and Chris was like hey ill play any bass part you want! Lol could you imagine Jimi with Chris in his band?
Chris Squire , " Is The Best " with All Do Respect to John Paul Jones . The 2 Best of All Time .
Yes, for me, are the pinnacle of progressive Rock.
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT, I'M WITH YOU 🥰
I feel elation in my heart to see yet another generation discover half-century old music that was the soundtrack to my high school years in the mid/late seventies.

@@steveturner9468 Me too! But the really good thing is that great music never gets stale.
I love her youth loving Yes, like I did when this was new music
❤❤❤😅
Perpetual Change is one of Yes most perfect songs, it is just a real wonderbloom of a song! Thank you for reacting!
Perpetual Change is a prog primer, the entire album is wonderful. Thank you for sharing it with us!
2 weeks ago is part of the pseudonym this individual uses.

Greetings from Oregon. Jon Anderson and bassist Chris Squire. A good team.
Jon Anderson's voice really has the ability to make you travel to all these fantastic worlds that were represented on the cover of their later albums.
💜
Jon has an astounding quality to his voice. We've had nothing else like it.
You should have t-shirts made with ‘Verdy Says Oof, Come On!’ written on them. You will sell thousands! 😊

Bill Bruford a GREAT drummer my all time fav
"I don't want this album to end" Something I've said hundreds of times. It never gets old.

Many times Chris is singing higher than Jon during the harmonizing.
I like when you smile and then close your eyes and then say: Oof..Come on! Sooo Good!
17:28 The other instrument I am pretty sure is Steve Howe playing rhythm guitar along with.
On the cover he is the one behind the chair.

Great reaction! YES is indeed captivating. They are even better live. Thanks, I enjoy your channel very much~
Listening to Yes: everytime brings a good mood: positive input they always give
Easy to forget that poor Tony Kaye was replaced by Rick Wakeman - he does a great job on keyboards - but has to be said Rick lifted the band into the stratosphere!
I always thought Tony was a great chord player, which an organ can easily fill, and Rick a classical player.
I've seen all good people .... "Damn!" I am in a state of bliss watching/listening to you experience this for your first time. Keep enjoying music!
Yes! For Yes. Autre bon choix d'album. Bonne journée du Nouveaux-Brunswick!
