So according to critics, Venom is a much worse movie than Ghostbusters 2016. Venom isn't perfect but it's a heck of a lot better than that steaming pile of faeces.
That’s just comparing one pile of shit to another pile of shit, in the end tho it’s all just shit
Android 16 those are the same critics that thinks that the 2016 ghostbusters is a good movie
Venom is a movie trying hard to be an MCU movie without MCU writers. If they ever get to make a sequel (which I sincerely hope), they have a lot to amend.
That said, no way in hell it can be worse than Ghostbusters.
Well the next Ghostbusters will star a 12 year old boy. So the remake will look like Gone with the Wind
@@theignaciortega Well now that spider-man is out of the mcu and now they have no reason to keep it pg to get in the mcu
Tom Hardy needs to take this Character like Ryan Reynolds did with deadpool. He obviously loved Venom, owned the character, and they botched it up around him. Keep Tom Hardy, lose the production crew.
I think that is definitely the way forward. I liked this film but I feel there is just too much in the crew that botched the film.
And tell Sony to fuck off and give the Spider-Man rights to MCU/Disney already.
I like Tom Hardy but he only did this for his kid. His kids a huge fan and even gave Tom tips about the character because he didn’t know a lot about him. Tom hardy said this himself.
This is a great idea! If ever this happens though it will take years...
That's exactly what they need to do. I agree. Tom Hardy is an amazing actor, but the crew needs to change. They need marvel and fucking Spider-Man. Tom holland Spider-Man.
Venom to Tom Hardy: "I know everything about you"
Next line from Venom: "Who's the girl?"
me: wtf?!
Sure, good point.
I think he meant he knows everything about his personality traits etc since he is in the body
Venom is asking Eddie Brock who the girl is because Venom likes messing with Eddie Brock.
Venom knows who the girl is but he likes messing with Eddie
STUDIOS!!!! Deadpool succeeded. Twice! You can make R-rated superheroes.
No actually. Disregard the rating and just make a good movie first. Rate it second.
Exactly. Make a fucking movie that works, then worry about how it's going to be marketed and distributed.
Logan worked as well
Yeah I agree but you would never see R-rated movies making 1 billion dollars plus at the box office....
Exactly making a movie rated r doesn't make a film good
problem is that they filmed the movie as if it was a rated r, then they cut out almost 40 minutes and turned it into a pg 13
Can’t believe they fucked this movie up, they had such a good character to make like a Logan type film.
Precisely.
More like deadpool and it's Sony so are you suprised
Venom isn't really rated r tho?
I blame the movie director. He fucked it up
@@gustavoadolfoleal3529 that's exactly who to blame
Even Tom Hardy is disappointed with it because they cut 40mins from the movie, including his favorite scenes. It better have a RRated cut on home releases.
Craig Norrie same thing happened to Jared Leto as the Joker. He was pissed about them cutting out all his stuff.
Excuse me the original cut of Black Panther was 9 hours and Hardy is worried about 40 minutes. Nah.
Craig Norrie it won’t and if it does it’s going to have horrible blood affects
Preston Groves And there’s 7 hours of unused venom scene footage for venom... I don’t think you get how movie making works lol. I hope you know that at no point that movie was gonna be that long
Changes nothing....itll still have those terrible scenes in there, why do people think an extended cut will be better? Thats just stupid
"Where did the fourth symbiote go? I only count three."
*Proceeds to talk about Carnage in the after credits scene*
There's a blue deadly one, it died, there's a yellow one inside a bunny that died, grey which is Riot and Venom were the remainder
@@jareththegoblinking3191 the yellow one, Scream, died? I though she was alive cause she found perfect symbiosis?
@@BSM-vw6cf the bodies weren't working out that well, they lasted a while but then rejected and the people didn't keep them fed, careless
Isn't this what they said happened with suicide squad? Studio edited a completely different movie than the actors thought they made
I really wonder what Venom would've been like if Sony kept R rating
@@РоманЗалётов-д9ш Nothing. Won't affect the bad writing.
@@KhanMann66 We don't really know. If 40 minutes of futage would've been taken out from infinity wars it wouldn't be that good either
@@KhanMann66 it would make the action leagues better tho...
Роман Залётов but it would be the same story so makes no difference
This movie kicked ass. Loved it. I definitely saw its flaws but I did love this movie 🍿
Had flaws but was a fine Venom movie. I don't think Venom is supposed to be super serious.
Couldn't agree more
@@pt8292 he is not suppose to be serious in this comic line
Yeah, it wasn't perfect but I did like it. I just wish it was rated R
Agreed.
Can’t wait for Venom to be rebooted 3 times and then Sony will finally cave and give it to Marvel.
Who-lee-oh most definitely!
I have a feeling if spiderman would be in venom, it would still be pg-13
U mean disney.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 funny but true
if sony make him a fucking clown, imagine what marvel will make of him...NO THANKS, sell him to Christopher Nolan and to no oneelse
“I’m a venom fan” doesn’t know riot is actually his name in the comics
Also doesn't know that Riot is one of several offspring of the Venom symbiote, most of whom debuted in the very miniseries this movie is loosely based on.
You nerds always get triggered by anything 🤓🤓 better have friends instead wasting your time on comic
He says hes a fan about everything
@@godking614 your name is god king you pathetic head ass
@@godking614 but I agree that was a dumbass argument
I just watched it. It wasn’t that bad at all. It was pretty good. Tom Hardy is fantastic.
Me too, it's actually awesome. People are being way too critical or something.
It's a decent film.
I thought it was decent.
@Austin Gale oh so you think you're a better critic than them, that's cute.
@@PhilGerb93 yes it's called I have an opinion
I honestly really enjoyed this movie
I did too. I felt like it fell off a little in the third act. But I still enjoyed it all the way through.
Yea the movie was alright love the way vemon came in Didn't like how he had a change of heart but the movie was okay and the fight cgi was terrible i was confused as shit didn't know who was winning when they was fighting
Some people also enjoy having a cigarette put out on their forehead while their testicles get stomped on.
i honestly thought it was crap.
Ryan oof
I feel like the only people who hate this movie are reviewers and critics. I've watched it twice and everyone in the theater had a great time. I'm a hardcore spidey/venom fan and I love the movie. This is a lesson to not let these reviewers persuade your thoughts on a movie, you might think differently
THE STORY UNTOLD one thing that the movie did rather well on was the Easter eggs relating to the comics, as well as the Symbiote lore.
I'm not a reviewer or critic....and this movie is trash. Have a good day
@@danielsmithiv1279 not a reviewer or a critic... but ur not a FAN either. Ive read comics up until i went to college, and this movie was really good! I like this version of venom
@Pascual Heredia
lol get your blind, devoted, idiotic self outta here.
So we get that Danny boy isnt a reviewer, critic, fan, or informed...so how is their opinion on this movie valid? lmao
"Why does venom even need eddie?"
Also Joe has some attention issues doesn't he?
The movie made it pretty obvious that the symbiotes need hosts to live,
Spoiler below
Hence why the blue one died once it killed it's host in that glass cell.
Rogue Reaper He meant why he needs Eddie in specific, like why not just throw away Eddie and get a new host when venom doesn’t need him anymore but the reason is that venom likes Eddie so venom doesn’t want him to die, hence why he “needs” him
@@sp1cychick3nsamm1ch9 cause he is in perfect symbiosis.
@@BSM-vw6cf But that does not make any bit of sense. Venom literally takes over the body of his girlfriend and Riot even takes over MULTIPLE Hosts for extended periods of time. Meaning that the symbiote more or less must be able to decide who to stay with. I am sure that some people are easier but there is nothing really stopping them from just hopping around. Not to mention that eddy actually is a shit partner considering that Venom can just take over some rich guy and live his life as he sees fit. The only explanation I have is that RIOT is able to "sense" who is a perfect host before bonding...Which is a really weird mutation considering that all the others cannot do it apparently? And if anything it is only hinted at. So yeah. Eddie sucks.
All of which is more in line with the comics but goes against the very first thing the movie tells us about them sym-biots.
@@Milleniummeister yeah thats one thing I don't like is the fact that they need perfect symbiosis to survive, and I think in this movie riot is older and wiser therefore has experience with hosts.
I feel really bad for Hardy, he probably tried his best in the part. They are trying too hard to be like Disney marvel not realizing that their stupid humor is also getting old.
They should have looked to Deadpool and Logan for inspiration on this one. ESPECIALLY since they didnt have Spider-Man.
@Exotic Razor shame a majority of the fan base disagrees with you. a majority of the fan base loves the movies, logan is one of the best super hero movies ever made, if not the best.
Daniel Rodrigues Marvel Disney crushed all superhero films with Infinity War. Deadpool is overrated & obviously you haven't seen his mess of a film they call Deadpool 2.
Jarom why the fuck would they go the Deadpool route? You want a bunch of preteen dick jokes in a venom movie? Fuck no. They needed to go the daredevil route.
I love people say this. "Meh marvel/Disney humor is getting so old". "Marvel/Disney is going to ruin this movie". Then movies come make a billion dollars and everyone wants the next movie
Idk why people say they don’t like the jokes in dead pool I mean almost every
One enjoys Deadpool.
I'm just going to say that I don't get the "if only it was rated R". A bad script is a bad script, even if the film was rated R but still used the same script and just added gore, it wouldn't fare any better. R rating does not magically make a film better. Dark Knight was P3-13 and was praised by both critics and fans. Watchmen was rated R and yet that movie had a mixed reception. A movie can be dark, gritty, not be rated R and yet still be fantastic.
For something that's inherently violent like venom, an R rating would make action scenes more tense. TDK wouldn't have benefited much from an R rating because Batman doesn't kill and dismember, but Venom literally eats brains in the comics so an R rating would make venom more menacing. I do agree that it wouldn't fix the script problems.
Yea, but if I'm going to see a bad movie atleast bring fanservice.
Vojou345
It’s because the character Itself demands an r rating because of what it is. If it’s pg 13 you know right off the bat they cut things out that are important to the character.
But see if it was rated R it wouldn't have the same Script. With that rating they could have done more
1 billion % I agree with you well put well said
Deadpool is what happens when fans of comics make movies.
Venom is what happens when Sony makes them.
Amen.
well its easy to make deadpool good literally has no rules and make him funny. Xmen origins was just when you get a writer who eats ants and thinks he can drink his own farts writing the movie.
@@Ytomany ask Ryan Reynolds how easy it is to make the Deadpool movie we know and love. Dude had to fight tooth and nail to get it even looked at, let alone given the R rating.
He said its easy to make a Deadpool movie, not that it's easy to get one made.
remember Fantastic Four.....
They complain that venom is a good guy but he’s always been kinda a good in away like in the comics he actually helps a lot of people in need
He kinda switches between being kinda of a good guy and being evil as hell (but not nearly as evil as carnage. )
He's an anti hero, literally the only evil thing he wants to do is kill spiderman, other than that he saves people and beats criminals and villains.
BSM 1999 he dose not wanna kill Spider-Man he forgave him in the comics he’s actually good friends with peter now he’s helped peter tons of times in the comics read a god damn comic and stop riding on haters dicks
Bayonetta Senpai I love the movie the fuck u talking about it’s one of my favorite movies but I’m tired of people saying all venom wants to do is kill Spider-Man he hasn’t wanted to do the in a while fuck off homie
@@toren2099 I know, I was talking about the earlier comic version of Venom where they had a truce yet still had a bit of a grudge.
shocker, sony screwed another movie up who could've thought?
After Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance, I was expecting it
Next sony movie, shocker origin story confirmed?
.....inb4 Sony announces Shocker solo film XD
Love ya Joe, but you gotta stop cutting Alex off. You could edit all his reactions of being cut short into a montage and see how often he’s being interrupted and getting frustrated.
Someone make this happen please lol

It's the Angry Joe Show
possibly for spoilers
joe has a extremely bad habit of cutting people off . go check out his interviews from e3. he cuts every single person off multiple times. he doesnt have a give and take conversation with people. its the joe show 100% of the time. and thats an issue, we need to hear other peoples opinions and have joe interact with those people and their opinions. he only seems interested in the others persons opinion so he can add his own narrative , he doesnt care or acknowledge the other persons addition to the conversation . THAT BEING SAID EVERYONE WHO IS GOING TO DOWNVOTE OR SHIT ON ME, I LIKE JOE A LOT. I THINK HE IS A FUCKING AWESOME PERSON ( from what i have seen on here) and i enjoy his content i really do. but joe SHUT THE FUCK UP ONCE IN A WHILE. less talking and more listening.
It’s not that deep
The movie isn't as bad as what people make it sound to be. I don't why its a thing to slander this movie
Not sharing your opinion isn't slander.
I think people were expecting the ultimate comic version of Venom. When he says "Venom fans will hate it" he means "ultimate venom fans will hate it"
If you read Mcfarlene Venom, it's very accurate
Christian AA broooooo man I had enough of people slandering good movies. This is definitely an example of fans vs critics.
@Trevor Nelson Sharknado has an 83%. The scores mean precisely dick.
@Trevor Nelson Thor ragnorak got a fuckin 90 something. Rotten tomatoes is corrupt as hell. This is all Disney trying to discourage Sony from continuing with Spiderman related movies
"seen the symbiotic relationship done better in other films"....
Im sorry what? did... did you watch the right movie? did you accidentally walk into the past and watch spiderman 3? because venom hasnt been done justice on screen in a LOOOONG time.
personally i find that detaching venom from spiderman is a GOOD thing. the reason for this is that Venom's sole reason for doing anything he does boils down to "fuck with spiderman". but taking spiderman out of the equation entirely gives the character that is venom room to grow in a way that feels more natural. plus the twist on the origin story compared to the one that EVERYONE knows is nice. telling an old story a different way is how you keep stories FRESH.
ALSO, a few points about venom (and the klyntar race in general) that people conveniently forget.
1: Venom, comparatively speaking, is the nice guy of his species. thats why he is a loser.
2: the reason the symbiotes need people is because THEY CANT SURVIVE IN EARTHS ATMOSPHERE WITHOUT THEM! They cover this SEVERAL times in the movie.
3: When bonding, even the most selfish ones like Riot, the symbiotes reflect the mental state of their host to a degree. So when venom says he changed his mind because of Eddy, ITS LITERALLY BECAUSE EDDY DOESN'T WANT TO BE A BAD PERSON.
4: destroying the planet IS the klyntar's objective on earth. Venom is literally the only one who believes survival lies within symbiosis rather than functioning as a parasite (hence why he gets offended at the word)
5: since you bring up the comics, not every comic story involving venom involves him meeting spiderman first.
6: Venom has always been an oddball jokester, even in the 90s cartoon. he would taunt and make jokes. this again though, is him reflecting the persona of Brock, who is for the purposes of the film, a rather aloof character to begin with.
7: For those in back, VENOM IS NOT AN EVIL ENTITY! He has always been the most concerned with the survival of his species, and yes that includes himself, venom goes CRAZY in brocks head in original canon BECAUSE eddy went crazy after loosing everything and the symbiote was reeling from the rejection from spiderman. so two characters who HATED a specific character. beyond that, Venom was an incredibly amiable character who was willing to do right, even if a little misguided by brocks state of mind. (basically venom always gets the short end of the stick)
BONUS: Cleetus Kassidy is the name of Carnage's host.
As far as the film itself goes, i enjoyed it, a lot. i give it a 8 out of ten. but i also absolutely love venom, so i have a bias.
the flow was good enough to get the point accross, and while it was rated PG-13, it was by no means a kids movie. don't fool yourself.
The Checkov's gun philosophy employed in this film was AMAZING. set elements did not get put in unnecessarily.
They still tie it into the MCU with stan lee's cameo,
I found the action scenes to be compelling enough, and i was thoroughly entertained beginning to end, and i honestly didnt even notice 2 hours and 20 minutes went by because i was ENJOYING the film.
and when you try to say venom ISN'T an anti hero. BULLSHIT. he still scares the shit out of literally everyone who sees him. and HE LITERALLY EATS PEOPLE. Venom has no qualms about killing. giving him a moral compass DOES NOT detract from that. it just means the killing is more directed. which DOES NOT mean he is not an anti-hero. Punisher, deadpool, and many others. Anti-heroes can know right from wrong, but still believe that the ends justify the means. E.G. Deadpool truly believes you cant let psychopaths and, for all intents and purposes, villains, live to do crime another day. so he will kill the bad guys without a second thought. is he doing good? yes. Is he heroic? hell no. hes a cold blooded killer. venom having a moral compass is much like that. and venom admitted, if he gets too hungry, he will just start eating brock again.. soo.. yeah...
thats all for now. ive got more to say but i think this all adequately gets my points accross.
I really agree with you on every point, I loved this movie. The only reason I would give it a 7/10 is because you can tell they cut it down, and some of the secondary acting was lack-luster. Tom Hardy KILLED this role. I will be back to see the sequel, hands down.
This is the loooongest comment ever
@@superstarx8940 it was also a rant if you didn't notice. Yknow. Fighting fire with fire. XD
It's kinda sad that venom is the last movie in the mcu with a stan lee cameo
@@LordParticle they might show him in Avengers 4 as they did with paul walker in FF7
The PG-13 rating killed this movie for me
I thought it was rated R.
@@themoleman6806 it was but half way through production of the film that turned it PG-13 which ruined the film and which is why I hope to god they make it rated R in the sequel and if they don't, then they fucked up again and then our only chance of Venom being on the big screen again is the MCU
I'm sorry but the movie wouldn't be any better with the R rating either..
Sony really should cancel the sequel to Venom and sell it to MCU.
@@neerdas5103 it would as it would of made Venom the dark and gritty character he is and not a PG-13 comic relief character
venom has always been kinda goofy, his first lines in lethal protector he apologizes to a woman he saves for scaring her, hands her back her purse pats her on the head and says "no need to thank us"
That isn't the problem that people have, it seems more like people dont like that the movie didn't show Venoms violent side when it comes to dispatching villains and criminals
@@StoogesTheTwo I know it wasn't a huge problem but at the beggining of the video he mentions it, guess it was just a bit of a nitpick
i always thought that to and he always talk about ripping off head and arms but you never see it in the comics, people don't really read them, There just has to be something people hate something to bitch about cause it's sony and everyone is butt hurt at spide man 3, i had a problem with amazing spider-man im not pissed at sony but the people that bitched about spider-man 3.
@@riseofloganxlogan4230 is because people don't know shit about Venom
@@riseofloganxlogan4230 Spiderman 3 portrayed venom as an emo piranha lets be honest. Venom looks dope af in this movie at least. And for the LAST time venom does NOT need to have spiderman to be good, god damn Joe you really wont let that go. And im pissed that its not rated R still like they said. Sony fucked this movie up so they could cross it over with Spiderman
For the first time I’ll disagree with Joe here. Venom for me was a amazing and funny movie. Although some parts of the movie was l ok....
For example: if venom needed Eddie then how did Anne perform symbiosis if Eddie is his perfect bond?
Other then that I thought film was great.
“I like her....GET IN!”
“If you wanted up, why didn’t just say so”.
“I need food!”
“On my planet I was a loser like you and you were the reason I changed my mind”
“Jump out the window” (goes to the elevators) “pussy!”
Did you agree when Joe said suicide squad was an 8/10? Jk, I really enjoyed this movie.
Ya I saw this review and expected it to be bad but it was amazing actually.
Yeah I disagreed with AJ for once I was thinking it was like a 7 for me at first but after this review I dropped it to a high 6 because of the problems he pointed out but I disagree everyone who’s a fan of this stuff should watch this
What parts did you actually laugh at. It was pretty forgettable for me
This movie was great. Honestly if your going to review a comic book movie you need to read the source material. Venom does tell jokes and the eddie they used is now current day eddie brock from the current comics. And i see nobody noticed that venom had no spidey powers. Many doors were left open if and when they would like to bring spidermanin the future to these movies. I felt this was a solid 7/10 and a very entertaining film. Pretty good for a film that was announced one year ago that this project was green lit.
"Venom had no spidey powers" LOUDER FOR THE PPL IN THE BACK!! 👏👏👏
i disagree. a movie should be judged on it's own and not rely on people knowing about it's source material.
but you do have a point in that if a reviewer is going to bring up the source material they should know what the fuck they are talking about.
My issue was that the man on the left who kinda pretended to know the source material but seemed to be unaware that Venom is an odd and sometimes funny character, his whole issue was that he thought venom wasn't supposed to be funny.
yeah i dont usually like his reviews bc he always tries to look like he knows, but he actually doesnt know shit
A comic book film should not rely on its audience knowing about the source material. It's the job of the film to properly establish the characters, story, etc.
I thought it was good...
Jacob Kirk No worries. Me too.
I’m with ya. Solid movie.
Here is the thing, its for normies. For people who want to see a movie, this has zero character development, a ton of plot holes and no character arch.
Astroboltos “normies”
Astroboltos no character development? SPOILERS. So he didn’t learn to coexist with Venom? They didn’t build on the villains God complex? They didn’t work with the bond between him and his ex? Get out of here.
Angry Joe, I usually don’t leave comments on youtube when it comes to disagreeing with vids as I tend to respect disagreeing viewpoints and often share a lot of the same views on reviews of movies and games as you do. However, I feel like you and all involved with this review of the Venom movie fundamentally misunderstood and just didn’t get this Venom movie and the reasons that you call for not liking it are just absurd. As most of the comments that I have seen are mentioning the same thing to an effect, I would like to take this case by case and clarify some of your misunderstood points as well as for the other people that watch your channel. While I agree that Venom is no masterpiece and has its flaws, it is nowhere near the 4/10 that you and the others gave it in this video. I personally would rate it around a strong 7 and would recommend people see this for themselves to make a decision. You may have not noticed but audience score for this movie on Rotten Tomatoes is around a 90% and should be noted. Again before we proceed, I want to acknowledge that everyone has a difference of opinion but common man, it seems like you guys were reaching for reasons not to like it. Let us begin.
1. So first off you start by mentioning that Venom wasn’t dark enough for you and that there was to much comedy relief. I am guessing by your age that you and the other people in this video are around my age or grew up around my time which was in the 90’s. You must have never watched the Spiderman series, read any of the Spiderman comics or played any of the Spiderman games or really had any knowledge of Venom at all as in all iterations of this character, at least in the 90’s, Venom was always a goofball and had a dark sense of comedy. This is why I don’t get you ripping on this so much.
2. Your criticism of not rating it R I kind of agree with as sure it would have been stronger as an R rating but I also don’t believe it took away from the movie either.
3. You say Venom was treated as a hero, rather than the anti hero in the movie. I agree with this to a certain point, as Venom was the hero of the movie, but come on to say he was a Hero….you must not have seen the scenes where he was EATING PEOPLE and snapping peoples bones, there sure were a lot of people that died by his hand. Doesn’t seem like something a hero would do. Sure most are bad guys but I’ll get to the reasoning for this later as I believe one thing you also missed fundamentally about this movie was that Eddie Brock CHANGED Venom and was demonstrated in dialogue in the movie and through the character development. I know of no other Superhero that kills people in this way multiple times, even the DC batman. I mean sure Venom saves people but he also kills people……aka an anti-hero. I really don’t see how you don’t get that.
4. Spiderman can’t be in this movie right since Marvel got Spiderman back? Yeah it sucks but using that as reason to not like the movie…..weak sauce.
5. Tiny Joe say that there wasn’t enough of the bonding between Venom and Eddie Brock. I guess you guys didn’t really think this through as yes Venom says in the beginning that he knows everything Eddie is thinking, but did you miss the part towards the end where Venom makes the change into wanting to save the world over destroying it because “EDDIE CHANGED HIS MIND” and maybe this is why Venom agrees to only kill the bad guys after speaking with Eddie towards the end of the movie. Seems like they kind of developed that bonding thing through the movie to me.
6. Glad to hear you liked the design of Venom because I agree, it was pretty spot on. I don’t know WTF that dude on the left was talking about saying he was “Shiny and rubbery” I actually laughed out loud when I heard him say that. He probably never knew who Venom was before this movie so I guess I can’t fault him on that.
7. Dude on left says there was no character development between Eddie and Venom…..I also laughed out loud when I heard this. Did you not see how Venom in the beginning of the movie mentioned he was ok letting Eddie die to an extent and later wanted to protect him by jumping girls bones to get back to him after Eddie throws him into the locked room, or how he turned like I mentioned earlier from wanting to destroy the earth to wanting to save it because of Eddies influence, or how Eddie convinces him to only kill bad people, or how Venom comes to trust Eddie and the chick by sharing his weaknesses. This dude just doesn’t get it at all. Tons of character development from Venom in this movie.
8. Villain was weak but Riot wasn’t weak. Considering he was in different people until that guy from the end I’ll agree with that to a certain extent.
9. I actually don’t agree when you say it was a plot hole to make Eddie a loser and then they didn’t follow through with it because he was world’s best investigator, was friends with ex’s bf etc. Did you miss the part where he gets fired and loses his girlfriend, living in a dump. Surely, that couldn’t be why Venom thought he was a loser. Jeez guys, not that hard to see.
10. “if you’re a venom fan you’re going to hate this movie” At this point and time this is the third time this guy made me laugh out loud. Please let me know what his background with Venom is because this dude don’t get it.
11. You say that Venom made the switch from wanting to destroy the world to wanting to save it super fast without any reason. Man you guys missed this one. Venom says in the movie that Eddie made him change his mind. You see Eddie before he gets fired and even after doing all these things to try and help people. Don’t you think that a symbiote attached to him which knew everything thing he was thinking would come to share his view through being bonded to him even though he was evil and maybe this is why he even says in the movie that Eddie helped change his mind.
12. You say you don’t know why Eddies GF makes the huge change with this plot hole that she is 100% onboard after venom was on her and before she was freaking out. Is it not possible that Venom was talking to her when they were bonded and explaining or convincing her that he was there to help and or wanted to save Eddie in the same way he was talking to Eddie throughout the movie? Venom even says he likes her. I don’t understand why you think this was a plot hole and can’t understand that, seems pretty simple to me. All your plot holes that I hear you mention are explained by just thinking about the movie man.
I hope this helps shed some light for you and your viewers. Yes it wasn’t the best movie, but by far not the worst either. What boggles my mind is you review Suicide Squad and rate it better than this movie……..that should tell everyone what they need to know. Please people don’t let this ruin it for you. 90% as I mentioned on rotten tomatoes, you will enjoy it more than Suicide Squad, I promise.
You are spot on, I couldn't agree more.
Enough said! Well put.
Like just for writing all that.
I like your comment very much but i disagree in pretty much 1 thing, tha t you mention multiple times, that fact the venom sys tha eddie changed his mind, and while you are very much correct and i understand there was no more time in a movie, you miss one point too, venom was with eddie what? 24 hrs? 48? he gets separated nd puff suddenly best buddies, the problem is, it was TOO ABRUPT, there was no explanation besides "you changed me"... and that is super weak!... once more i know it was probably for a time issue, or not, the point is joe is right on that IMO, BUT! it was a good movie, i likd it, i love venom and i think they are in the right track, i do hope to see a more violent venom in a hopefully future movie, but this one satisfied my fan's heart, nd i hope joe read your comment, :)
The guy on the left literally never knows what he's talking about in these reviews. I have no idea why Joe keeps him in these. He always makes a fool of himself.
So I watched the review before I went to go see the movie and was sad and lowered my expectations because I normally agree with joe on his reviews. But after I watched it I really disagree with joe on this review. I really enjoyed this movie, even my girlfriend absolutely loved it and found it hilarious. And I totally disagree on the end boss fight I thought it was really exciting and visually interesting. I give the film a 7/10. Not all the jokes hit I will admit and I do feel like it would be better as an r rated film but non the less was a good movie.
Jake Maji Yeah I Definitely Agree, I Was Surprised Because My Girlfriend Actually Liked The Movie Too Lol
Just saw it my girlfriend also enjoyed it she loved the comedy and the way venom looked I thought it was like a 6 imo I just wished they actually used New York you know?
Not as bad as they say
it was a great movie
Exactly. They actually made the love interest useful in this movie. Love interest in superhero movies our usually their weakness. In this movie she helped him twice. I was shocked and happy to see
Venom should have been at Netflix Punisher's level of gory and more. Making this PG-13 is a fundamental missuderstanding of the character.
Yup. The second that was announced I lost any interest.
I don't disagree, but I don't blame it. You can show how gory he is or you can give a clue. Captain America first avenger is PG - 13 and in one scene the captain throws a Hydra soldier to a spinning rotor blade and it shows how it turns to a red trace in the sky. They can show from differents ways the savagery of the character but they just didn't because who know why
You mean PG-13. PEGI is the European classification for videogames lol.
Its not a video game..
my weekend is ruined thank you sony 🖕
Anyone else knew it was going to flop?
Orion Beci I knew it would be a flop when they first announced this movie.
I was never into it myself after seeing the trailer it seemed off and goofy even in the trailer but I didn't know if it was gonna do bad.
I wouldn't shut up about to my friends about knowing this movie would suck. Eddie Brock's entire character motivation was to be Venom (Poison) to Spider Man for "ruining" his life, costing him his job etc. Without this whole dynamic making a movie makes literally no sense.
Everyone knew except the executives.
Yep
It wasn't some great movie but it was a decent brainless fun actually. I think the critics are too much up their ass.
Anon ymous calling it brainless fun isn’t a positive review
if it's "brainless fun" its literally trash. Honestly, it's so insulting to have to turn your brain off to enjoy a movie instead of you know, just making a good movie with a good story and characters and that actually respects the source material
For me, Venom's origin just can't work without Spider-man, he represents the antithesis (or the embodiment, however you want to look at it) of what Uncle Ben passed on to him, "With great power comes great responsibility", the lesson that made him the hero he is. In the original story, Venom was like an addiction, he made Peter more powerful, which meant he could potentially save more people, but it also made him irresponsible, impulsive, far more violent. His existence from that point on was a constant reminder of that. That's infinitely more fascinating to me than a guy just found him in a lab. Do what you want with him after that but I feel as though he needs Spider-man.
I really hate to admit this.. but I think spiderman 3 was better lol..... I think I threw up alil bit inside.. excuse me..
@@Nobody-yd2fh Woah! There's no need to be Hostile..

Spot on.
Neon King A Venom fan would know that Spider-Man is necessary in his existence. For the first years of Eddie Brock being Venom his only goal was to literally torment, stalk, and ruin Peter Parker’s life, after the events of Lethal Protector, Venom became an Anti-Hero of sorts, but he always still crossed Spider-Man all the time.
So that's it huh, we some kinda Venom?
Dude I saw this tonight, and Suicide Squad gave me the exact same vibes... The soundtrack and editing weren't as awful, but the blue balls and the acting were dogshit except for Tom Hardy (duh). It's not even "so bad it's good," don't waste your money.

Alden Hedegaard it was solid i went in thinking it would be awful but i liked it and we get woody as carnage
The story was terrible, but everything else was great.
Riot was basically an afterthought. The rest of the movie was way more interesting
All the symbiotes in the comics do have names Riot being one of them.
I miss Toxin :(
Yeah but it sounds weird and out of place in this movie. Why are two alien symbiotes that don’t even speak our language until they come to this planet already have names like Riot and Venom?
Cause it's there names and they learned our language by bonding with the humans it explains it in the movie and comics
Shawn smith they don’t explain it
@@AugustEpilogue you pretty much just have to know.
the 3 main reasons why a movie comes out between October-February:
1. It's a kids movie
2. The movie is meant for a niche audience
3. (In Venom's case) It's a movie that the studio knows will not be successful during the summer months so they put in in a slow time where the competition is not present.

Wasn't Venom goofy to begin with? Also, I'm going to be that guy and say that Venom is limited when paired only to Spider-Man.
Idk about goofy... The only reason the symbiote bonded with Eddie is because Eddie was a suicidal, borderline psychopath that wanted to murder Peter Parker.
He would say things that could be considered goofs, like that "eyes lungs pancreas" line (supposed to be said to Spiderman) but it's in the context of trying to murder and cannibalize someone lol

- the film was 1 hour 52 minutes I don’t know where you saw an extra half hour.
-Venom is suppose to have smooth almost glossy look to him I don’t know how else he’s suppose to look.

I liked the "Carnage" line! Waaaat better than the "fantastic 4" line at the end of that movie...
I fully agree that if felt rushed. The only way you knew a long time had passed was a quick, "It's been a few months".
Also, Venom's character arc was more like an abrupt 180. When he said he wanted to help humans, I actually asked out loud, "why?" His motivational turnaround was so fast and without any obvious reasons.

louiethepitt well the thing is...the MCU isn’t perfect. Thor doesn’t really have a memorable film does he? Like a turd in the wind...
I hate that line, ik it's from the comics but that doesn't make it a good line
If i'm being honest, The interactions between Venom and Eddie, as well as Tom Hardy's performance saved the movie. Even if he was given uninteresting lines, he still somehow managed to make it entertaining! Some better writing could have made the movie a masterpiece. Here are my personal Critiques if anyone cares. These some glaring problems with the movie, that if were changed, would have mad the movie much better in my eyes.
1.) The reasoning for Eddie to break into the life foundation with the scientist was stupid and didn't make a whole lot of sense, yes, she voices that she's scared to do anything herself because she's scared for her family, but she takes NO precautions. All she does is bring him along with, and enter the facility as normal, seriously? No Ski masks? Security camera destroying? Anything? Even THEN all Eddie did was take pictures, you're telling me she couldn't have done that herself?
2.) The entire subplot of Riot traveling across the globe in different hosts just to get to the Life foundation is retarded, period. It didn't need to be in the movie, we don't learn anything about him until the very end of the movie, an actual arc here where we got to learn his interests and contrast them with Venom's, maybe hear about their lives prior to coming to earth would have made him a much better villain, and it would have made the ending of the movie less anticlimactic (It was admittedly still really awesome though)
3.) Quite a few of the decisions that the characters make are just stupid, and are obviously just there to forward the plot and create a conflict, for example. Why in the hell would Venom WANT to go to the hospital? Did he not remember the MRI scan from earlier in the movie? After that, it doesn't go anywhere anyway, they just sorta...re bond again, along with Eddie and Ann sharing a tender moment. Wooooo... I think they could have made their separation more meaningful, like Eddie being beaten within an inch of his life by the guard who hated him, the both of them sharing brief conversation, like the guy smack talking him while Eddie keeps hitting him with the smart ass comments to piss him off? Only for venom to come in at the very end to eat him.

Spaghettiio Assassin correction. The reason Spider-Man 4 never happened was constant studio interference, (sound familiar?) and the studio (aka Sony) were pushing for the reboot. Sam Reimi wanted to end the original movie series on a high note.

Don't be a flip flopper; man up and make a solid choice about whether you liked it or not. Don't let the anger of Angry Joe influence your decision. I found the one -and ONLY- line worth laughing at was when the symbiote calls Eddie a "pussy" for using the elevator instead of jumping the way it wanted, just before the big shootout scene.
Hey joe, I know it's the angryjoeshow, but please quit interrupting every single word out of the other guys mouths. Or at least let them have an allotted time slot to get a word and opinion in edge wise without you blurting out every single second. It's annoying and rude and takes away from the overall experience of these review videos. The way you structure these reviews, they could easily just be only you talking into a camera. You talk so non-stop, the other guys have to interrupt you just to try and say anything.
THIS! Fucking This! Jesus fucking christ you can see that Joe knows the big guy has better points to offer because he looks over for some unconscious approval whenever Joe is trying to flesh something out.
This is a constant problem with Joe. He wants to impose his views over the other guys’’ opinions . He should this all alone but he has the need to be the center of attention.
You should see him when he's streaming on his twitch channel with Delrith, OJ or Angerbeard. Constantly running them over and simultaneously complaining that they are talking over him. The things they have to put up with because obviously employed by Angry Joe. There is also this constant compromise, while OJ and the other dude clearly say they don't like something and why.
Exactly. These reviews in general need to be better structured and planned. He pretty much just turns on the camera and rambles. And Joe needs to just do these reviews by himself. There's no point in having others there if he isn't going to give them chance to speak.
I'm just trolling on his channel, but I lost respect for Joe when he reviewed The Last Jedi, and then did a 360.

Sadly Joe. Sony CANNOT use Spiderman.
Part of the Spiderman to MCU deal was that Sony had the Videogames, some animated movies, & input on villians.
But Marvel has exclusive rights to Spiderman on the big screen now.
So Spiderman & Venom meeting is EXTREMELY unlikely unless both studios swallow their pride & do what's best for the fans.
But with Disney in charge of Marvel...HA!
Never will happen.
I felt the movie was exactly what it said it's be.
A dark action movie.
It was never trying to be some deep moving story. Nor a copy paste of him in the comics because...
Let's be honest. Venom's comic origin isn't very great.
They've retconned it how many times now?
I felt the fights were very true to the chaos of the Venom character.
But yeah they needed more work & polish.
The jokes gave Venom (Symbiote) some personality. Honestly I felt the way it & Eddie interacted was the best part of the film.
Eddie: "Mask!"
Venom: "Copy!"
Was a small line but the subtle touches are what mattered impo.
Spider-Man will fall back with Sony after the film "Spider-Man: Far From Home" unless Sony renews their contract with Disney, which they might not want after creating a universe again.
Venom's origin not that great? WTF are you talking about? Venom's origin is one of the greatest origin's of any Spider-Man villain. His whole reason for existing was the combined hatred for Peter Parker ruining Eddie Brock's career and the Symbiote being rejected by Spider-Man.
He's spiderman's most dangerous adversary since he's basically Spider-Man but stronger, immune to his spider sense and knows everything about him including his real identity. This movie was a HUGE wasted opportunity and I really don't think its worth continuing w/out Spider-Man.
If Sony has no rights to Spiderman in movies how are they making the Spiderverse movie?

When I say origins. I'm talking the very first appearance. Which would be the Secret wars arc.
Essentially, Spidermans suit was damaged so he steps into a machine & it puts a black suit on him.
Which later on turns out to be Venom.
It's kinda unceremonious when you think about it.
Venom as a character however is everything you listed. But that was all future development.
The true origin is:
Spiderman walks into an alien machine & it places a Black Version of his suit on him that can produce infinite webbing.
Doesn't make for a great movie origin when you read it on paper.
A stand alone Venom movie with no Spider-man was never going to be good.

He said "Marvel universe" not "MCU". Venom is from the Marvel universe isn't he ?
Oh well, more Venom for me. I liked it very much. Didn't need as much blood as everyone is craving.....kinda weird and concerning, to be honest.
Actually, going back to the true origin of symbiotes, where they're actually an alien race looking for hosts to create HEROES, Venom's personality sorta makes sense. Also, Venom resinates with Eddie and is more warming to him because he perceives himself as a loser like Eddie. So the pairing becomes more sympathetic and humorous. I liked seeing Venom as more of an intelligent life form rather than an angry, out of control, bloody monster, which is Carnage's personality. When you're trying to make a likable main character without the main hero, you need to make his personality likable.
To me, having a goofy anti-hero is a breath of fresh air. And yeah, there is Deadpool, but you can't take kids to see that. I don't need to explain why.

Elliot Virggo now we have someone who gets it! Thanks man.
You guys dont even know about the actual lore behind the origin of venom, the movie followed the comics of venom and his history. This movie is called Venom!! Not spiderman!! And should be only about him. Sony did well and they will do even better for part 2 which introduces carnage!
Venoms origin involves Spider-Man. So yes for an origin story Spider-Man needs to be there or at least referenced. This movie is based on venom lethal protector (which still has Spider-Man). I’m not saying that Spider-Man is a necessity for a good venom story, but the studio chose to do his origin and a story which both require Spider-Man and then not even make a reference to it.

I am not a huge comic book nerd, so can't speak to how Venom is in there, but I loved the way he is portrayed in this movie... definitelly better than that bullshit from spiderman 3...
P.S.: Wow this entire review, start to finish, is totally biased. I don't know where you went to see the movie, but where I went, people laughed. Overall the movie is still popular, 21 days after release. This interview begins by you saying "It's Stupid" (it's not, that it makes no sence to you, doesn't mean it's stupid from the point of view of a normal person) and continues by you saying "It's unfunny" (it's not)... I have lost my train of thought :D , but the point is, the movie is worth seing :)
YES no stupid spidey walking down the street(in the venom suit)saying hey hey like the biggest nerd in the mu.
Lol what exactly did you laugh at? I fell asleep on it
@@gloriouspurpose_ been awhile since i seen it but one was like a turd, blowing in the wind, headless armless turd. That was pretty funny and im not easily amused but haters gonna hate
The review is biased? It’s suppose to be biased dumb fuck it’s the guys own opinion
If anyone plays Carnage it should be the actor who played Rorschach in Watchmen.
YES
Without spoilers, the actor choice they’ve gone with is pretty good
W/o spoiler, I seriously disagree, he just does not fit that character and the wig actually made me laugh it is that terrible
YES diffiently that would be PERFECT its a best match and PLS dont be some cut up who play carnage and the role
Nobody here has seen "Natural Born Killers" OBVIOUSLY
Sony should sell the rights of venom to marvel so we can get a good sequel with Tom Hardy.
It'd be GUARANTEED to be PG-13 then.
@@giftheck it can be a good movie even with PG 13
Im a big fan of venom and spoods and i did enjoy this movie i dont think its as bad as people say
Miksershow ikr, I loved it!
Miksershow I enjoyed it a lot. Tom Hardy’s voice acting was weird
Honestly I don’t get the hate. I freaking loved it. I thought it was fun and Venom was freaking cool
Same I liked it
Same, I definitely agree that it would've been better if it was rated R but at the end of the day, we gotta make sacrifices if we ever want a chance at seeing Spidey vs Venom. And they still managed to keep it fairly graphic for it's rating. I don't think it was amazing or anything like that but I definitely think it was pretty good. This is all my opinion though.
Spoilers.
Swat: “masks”...gas masks go on
Eddie: Mask, venom starts kicking a$$
Don’t listen to critics, the venom was awesome.
Hawaii Tree Fellers did you really sensor the word “ass”? You’re too young for this movie.
That was the only good scene.
Spaghettiio Assassin child friendly 😂
If you watch the end scene where he supposedly eats the guy's face off in the gas station, his body's simply gone when he walks out. Like did he eat him whole?
Yes, he did.
@@nota444tm2 but I thought he was going to become a turd :(
@@BananaFalcon i wish, lol. But venom had a second thought.
He stepped over him if you were paying attention...
Venom is very funny in the comics too
Too bad he wasn't in this movie.
@@TheMucusMan subjective opinion is subjective
@@glitchygear9453 well you're not wrong! 😁
the movie wasnt 2hr 20min, it was 1hr 52min, i timed it to make sure
yes. thank you.
True
I thought it was 1:30 something, plus the credits and all that stuff.
Most comments here don't agree with these guys, but I do. The movie had too many little flaws and negatives that added up to me not liking the movie all that much. It was OK.
To Joe and the gang: Venom couldn't have had his uniform or web swing around because in this version, Venom had not bound to Spider man yet. Symbiotes acquire and enhance traits, skills and abilities of their host and retain them after they separate. (This is why Eddie Brock, as Venom, has many abilities of spiderman including the ability to block Spiderman's spider sense, which makes Venom such a dangerous enemy) It wouldn't make sense if Venom was ANYTHING like Spiderman in this film.
SONY should sell Venom to MCU!
Sony and Fox should sell all of there marvel characters back to marvel
Malachi Fuller They don't need to. Disney bought Fox.
@@Nobody-yd2fh salty because your movie is dog shit?
@@Nobody-yd2fh if you were a venom fan then you would want him to fight Spiderman because Spiderman is venoms worst enemy (other than Carnage and his siblings) venom fighting his siblings could only be fun for so long. So since you're SUCH a HUGE venom fan then please let me know who you want venom to fight against that Sony owns the rights to?? I'll wait.
@@cirrusfox8052 I know no mcu no bullS no dumb crossovers now leave me alone please
Inb4 "If only it was rated R" comments incoming 😔😒
If only it was rated R
R rating wouldn't have saved this movie.
@@JoniHD99 exactly
@@JoniHD99 it definitely could have if they added the deleted scenes with rated R

The fact that they held back is what ruins movies like this
Surprisingly, Topher Grace's portrayal of Eddie Brock was better than Hardy's. It was Grace's Venom that was so bad, for so many reasons, and some that were out of his control.
how long was the movie???? 2h20min... wtf i just saw it and it was just 1h35min
WTF???!!!
@Chris Vega the fck... eachone has its own time... the fck? maybe it wasalways like this but i just niw realised since someone brought up the duration of the movie.
Does anyone else hate when joe cuts people off ?
Ali Hagagi he’s done this in every movie review. No point in bringing it up anymore
hate when ppl bitch hopeing they just go kill themself so go do that
POTENTIAL SPOILER WARNING
When Eddie Brock is investigating the LIFE Foundation lab, he sees that last symbiote, dead(the pile of yellow guts looking thing). This looked similar to that "were you not watching it" scene that Joe was talking about. Also Carlton Drake apologised to Riot saying "I couldn't help the other two" or something like that.
He needs Eddie because he's a perfect match for him as a host... He says that... And also he later says he likes Eddie because he can relate to him.
And they said they didnt understand why Venom became "Eddie's best friend". I mean come on... It's a Symbiote! The second it bonded with Eddie it connected with him at a level of instant emotion/experience/empathy that needed no elaboration. Its like knowing somebody in a split second
Sony Pictures is going to ruin and abuse the movie rights. Marvel Studios really needs to find away to get the rights back.
If this movie bombs (be real it will) then maybe sony will sell them back, if not let's just hope the rumors about them selling their movie division is true
I thought the design of Venom was really good. Honestly I wanted to see more of Venom in character though.
