@@population-_-420 That's what I thought and then I instantly thought of movies like Black Widow and The Marvels that have JUST as worse dialogue, acting and extreme amounts of plot holes, if Madame Web surpasses those two, damn! Madame Web might just be the true sequel to those two movies!
Female Empowerment
I think i will always have a pet peave about 2 things. Comments that do nothing more than repeat a funny line from the video without a time stamp with no reaction (to your credit, you did at least leave an LMAO at the end) and people that just praise the creater on how good of a job they did making the video over and over and over again. If one comment says "You guys crushed it, good job." Then just hit the 👍on that comment. Why feel the need to say the same dam thing. I heard that more comments mess with the algorithm in a good way but does that same thing happen if you get a bunch of 👍 on a single comment? Who knows. It's late and I'm cranky. Hope you enjoyed reading the ramblings of a man that is overall disappointed at the human race at the moment.
I think we all knew when we saw Webb wasn't a white haired grandma with daredevil glasses bossing Spiderman around, and teleporting shit, that this wasn't gonna be anything good.

You know, I watched the old Spiderman cartoon series and it had a Madam Web arc follow by the secret wars arc and that was great! They could have... could have just written a script mostly based on that and I would watch that.

I remember when Madam Web was announced I was kinda hyped! Of course, my idea of Madam Web was from the 90s Spiderman TAS where she's a powerful psychic that makes Spiderman do what she wants, including some multiverse shenanigans. This movie is just... ummm... just.... an abortion.

A friend of mine worked as an production assistant on this film, and the higher ups verbally absued the shit out of them, so that gave me extra incentive to hope this movie loses Sony millions.

Here's what I did the day this film came out: First I had to go to the dentist for a filling. They had to numb me up, and it took TWO injections to fully numb my mouth. After that, I came home to find out my mom had COVID. So I had to then get a test to make sure I wasn't negative, and then I got a booster since it was a year since my last one. So now both my mouth AND arm hurt.
I LITERALLY spent the day getting stabbed by sharp painful objects, and I would do all that over again rather see this movie.
Sounds like the movie is worthy of a free screening at Guantanamo.

In the theatre I work in yesterday we have a Bargain Wednesday so tickets are cheaper. Madame Web released the same day as Bob Marley. Bob Marley absolutely wiped the floor with Madame Web. Madame Web’s highest attendance was about 45 seats out of 200 for one screen. Bob Marley nearly sold out 3 screens in the space of 2 hours.

Your theater did much better on Madame Web, than the one I went to, I know you are speaking as an theater employee, but my numbers are as a customer.
Anyhow I went to watch Madame Web on 2/15/24 for a 6:30pm showing in Vegas, the theater I was in seats 150 max, there was only 9 people in there, eight others, including myself.
It was so embarrassing for a superhero film, the only other two superhero films, that I can remember having this low poor viewership on its first two days were this, Blue Beetle and New Mutants.
Just in case you’re interested, there was only 3 people total for opening day on New Mutants at the theater I went to, because of Covid and the limited seating.

I've now come to the thought process that if producers and game devs are sayin loudly that the game/movie is amazing and you'll watch it twice or dubbing it a quadruple A game. It's trash and they're hoping consumers won't notice until money is wasted to try and recoup their losses.

I remember Madame Web from the 1994 Spiderman the Animated Series as an elderly wise woman who helps Spiderman in his task to save the Multiverse.

I usually don't watch spoilers if I haven't seen a movie, but this movie is such a wreck I am pulling over and taking selfies.
i KNOW about those hellraisers... i watched them all.. I just got flashbacks about the random scenes intercut with Pinbloke walking around and looking at things for 5 seconds before cutting back
At first, I didn't have a problem with Madame Web being young because I thought Dakota Johnson was playing Julia Carpenter, a Spider-Woman who became the second Madame Web after the first one died. Julia was a lot more active in the field as Madame Web, and Dakota Johnson's outfit in the movie is clearly based off of her. When I saw Sydney Sweeney in Julia's Spider-Woman costume, THAT was when I realized Dakota Johnson was playing the original Madame Web and I knew the movie would fail. Having Dakota Johnson play Julia Carpenter would've solved SOME of the movie's problems. 🤦♂
The movie flopped the moment the "researching spiders when she died" line was heard.
Hollywood writing is such a depressing example of failing upward.

Avi Arad has a history of getting involved in creative projects just to claim it as his. He did this throughout his tenure at Marvel and screwed over so many creative teams just to feed his ego. Ok, I just have to say. I'm excited to hear about this and for you to clearly tear into it, but calling anything worst of the year in February seems a tad preemptive. I could be wrong, it could be that bad and I could even be convinced it's in the running or lead so far but I still maintain that the title seems a bit much going in.

They needed to use older actresses because the planned next film would be in current times, 20 years after the time when this film was set in. This film is just the set up movie for their newest Spider man free Spiderverse, well, that was the plan anyway. It's their version of the Mummy film introducing Universal's monsterverse, and will work just as well as that film did.
