The problem is that Sony has an idea and someone has to work that idea in. It's not "The director came to us with an idea for our property". which is how most good movies/shows happen.
They are the same company that canceled a promising Popeye movie for the Emoji movie. The company is run by idiots that sometimes accidentally hires competent people.
I don't know why they made Madame Web young when in the comics as well as the 1994 Spiderman the Animated Series was an old blind woman who has the ability to travel from dimension to dimension. I remember Madame Web from the 1994 Spiderman the Animated Series as an elderly wise woman who helps Spiderman in his task to save the Multiverse.
I feel like at this point Sony is holding Spider-Man hostage and it's just so sad to see considering he's literally the most popular superhero in the world (at least when you look at overall sales of products, merchandise, games, movies, shows and everything else that that entails)
@kylemenos I mean maybe but at least there would be a pubic of a chance whereas with Sony it's just dead before it even starts getting written. Imagine watching this in IMAX. It would be a war crime. Btw, the character prefers, "Spider-Like Adjacent Person". Smokey the Bear: Only you...Can prevent wildfires...outside of New Jersey.
At first, I didn't have a problem with Madame Web being young because I thought Dakota Johnson was playing Julia Carpenter, a Spider-Woman who became the second Madame Web after the first one died. Julia was a lot more active in the field as Madame Web, and Dakota Johnson's outfit in the movie is clearly based off of her. When I saw Sydney Sweeney in Julia's Spider-Woman costume, THAT was when I realized Dakota Johnson was playing the original Madame Web and I knew the movie would fail. Having Dakota Johnson play Julia Carpenter would've solved SOME of the movie's problems. 🤦♂
Avi Arad has a history of getting involved in creative projects just to claim it as his. He did this throughout his tenure at Marvel and screwed over so many creative teams just to feed his ego. I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't already tried to muscle his way into the third spider-verse movie or other future comic related projects.
I think if they make her movie as supranatural detective story, it would received better (eventhough still bad) The superhero aspect really make it worse

Marvel selling those movie rights back in 90s was the WORST mistake they ever made. Idc if it’s Disney or not, or how much it costs, someone needs to take the Spider-Man movie rights away from Sony, what they’re doing is downright criminal lmao
Perhaps that is the goal? Hegelian Dialectic: Problem, Reaction, Solution Sony Pictures makes terrible movies, putting them closer to bankruptcy. Solution: Disney buys Sony Pictures, putting them one step closer to a monopoly. I don't see how these Spider-Man spin-off movies can be this bad unless it's been done intentionally. It's not like they don't have decades of material to draw inspiration from, right? From the Rothschild 25 Point Plan
19. Masquerade as political, financial and economic advisers to carry out our mandates with Diplomacy and without fear of exposing “the secret power behind national and international affairs.” 20. Ultimate world government is the goal. *It will be necessary to establish huge monopolies,* so even the largest fortunes of the Goyim will depend on us to such an extent that they will go to the bottom together with the credit of their governments on the day after the great political smash.” Is it possible that Avi Arad might have 'something" to do with pushing this plan forward in some capacity?

11:18 God's of Egypt is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine. And Morbius, while not great, is by no means the worst recent comic book movie that I've seen.
Why is it set in 2003 when the first Spider-Man movie came out at 2002. The Madame Web movie says Peter isn't even born yet? Are they going by Tom Holland?
For now ... supposedly the shareholders are not happy and are telling Sony that if kraven doesn't profit they'll be pulling out and will let Marvel Studios buy it out The same thing happened to Fox Studios
They have Jumanji. They really need to make that sequel to "Welcome To The Jungle" and "The Next Level," because that's probably the only way to salvage things.
This movie basically being a Spider-Man/Terminator hybrid made me realize that Linda Hamilton would've been a good choice for a comic book accurate Madame Web. Shame this is what we got instead.
Pepsi seems to pretty much only exist in America. You rarely ever see it here in Ireland, and on world travels, I also rarely see it. Most of the time, Nobody sells it. It just seems to have an American base, but that's about it...

I already knew from the get go that this movie was going to BOMB so badly, especially after watching Joe’s reaction to the trailer. The whole film looked like it had a Highschool budget for crying out loud! But fun fact, when my mom and sister saw the trailer on TV thought while smiling that “this movie was gonna be sick". Yeah…I know. And when I cringed at the trailer and terrible effects, they thought something was wrong with me and I was being weird, but nah they just got bad taste for movies 😑 Seriously Sony, this weird plan to create a Spiderman cinematic universe…without Spiderman is just not gonna work guys. It’s getting ridiculous, and now I know when that Kraven movie comes out, everyone is gonna be making comparisons to Insomnaic’s Kraven from Spiderman 2 and how they nailed his character WAY better than that movie making him some forced anti-hero…
I don't get why they keep having to make these clearly bad villains anti-heros. Even Venom was a clear villain when the character first started. Oh wait, it's like there's no main hero for them to be a villain to. A main hero that a company like Sony doesn't have the rights to and it going to keep making these soulless poorly written origin stories to make money regardless of the quality of the film.
I've now come to the thought process that if producers and game devs are sayin loudly that the game/movie is amazing and you'll watch it twice or dubbing it a quadruple A game. It's trash and they're hoping consumers won't notice until money is wasted to try and recoup their losses.
I think all youtuber movie critics need to start calling out these studio execs who keep approving and greenlighting this garbage starting with AMY PASCAL who thought hiring the worst writers in the industry (morbius) was a good idea.

Anyhow I went to watch Madame Web on 2/15/24 for a 6:30pm showing in Vegas, the theater I was in seats 150 max, there was only 9 people in there, eight others, including myself.
It was so embarrassing for a superhero film, the only other two superhero films, that I can remember having this low poor viewership on its first two days were this, Blue Beetle and New Mutants.

The movie flopped the moment the "researching spiders when she died" line was heard.
Avi Arad has a history of getting involved in creative projects just to claim it as his. He did this throughout his tenure at Marvel and screwed over so many creative teams just to feed his ego. I've now come to the thought process that if producers and game devs are sayin loudly that the game/movie is amazing and you'll watch it twice or dubbing it a quadruple A game. It's trash and they're hoping consumers won't notice until money is wasted to try and recoup their losses.
