Me: *spends like 1 uselesss hour doing the basic coloring* Echo: You can set the lineart layer to reference so you can still color within the lines Me: *screams while jumping into the void* This makes me feel like I am able to draw more now omgthanks
Everyone knows the feeling of doing that tap motion on literally everything. My phone, sketchbooks, apps that don’t do that, I even did it in just a standard Wacom tablet that was hooked up to a computer it’s become part of my life.
Wow! I was just telling my husband that I hadn't been able to figure out the basics on Procreate and watched a few videos and STILL didn't get it! That is, until I watched YOURS! Thanks so much for going through the functions and demonstrating them with a no-nonsense type of attitude. I think using Procreate is going to take our music branding to the next level! Thanks, again. 🙌🏾
Oh, I see it now. I was actually thinking how weird it was that an art blogger had a garage-themed tool cabinet. They're big and red and boxy. And if I'm being honest, that's what I thought it was another room. Because I thought it was a big tool thing.
I'm following this with no problem because I know Photoshop. However, I remember learning it and your video is not easy to follow for someone who has absolutely no clue. You are not teaching at a teacher's speed but just showing viewers how well YOU know the program.
Right handed people: OMG it is SO hard to draw on a iPad at first! My hand keeps touching it! Left handed people: Imagine how tired we are. Imagine how tired we are.
It's been months since I've made digital art (because I accidentally broke my iPad and I've been saving for a new one 😬), but still, occasionally I double tap my sketchbook paper when I need to undo something and it takes me a second to remember I'm not drawing on my iPad when the line doesn't disappear 😳 lol
Same! My old iPad got slightly bent, enough so the pressure sensitivity didn’t work anymore so drawing with the Apple Pencil was essentially impossible, and I went about a year without doing digital art. And right up until the point when I got a new iPad I was still double tapping on my paper to undo mistakes. 😅
Love this video! I learned about so many features I didn't even know existed in the program! The timestamps in the description are super detailed and helpful too. Quick note: The Rapid Undo Delay actually controls how long you have to hold your 2 fingers on the screen for before the rapid undo feature kicks in. For example, mine is set to .65 seconds, so if I continue to hold my 2 fingers on the screen when undoing, after .65 seconds, rapid undo starts which keeps undoing your strokes until you lift your fingers or it can't undo any further. This is handy if you need to undo a section and you make tiny brush strokes to create your artwork. To get a visual of what I mean, draw several lines on a blank canvas and tap and hold 2 fingers on the screen. Hope this helps!!
That's called Palm rejection. I know the iPad Pro has it. But I have a 12.9 inch I can't tell if hers is the 10 and a half inch and maybe it doesn't have Palm rejection.
Not sure if I missed it, but my favourite shortcut is three finger swipe down for the copy paste etc. tools. There is just so much it does and has that every video about Procreate teaches a new thing! Great round up!
I must have said oh my God all the times in the first week holding my new iPad Pro and procreate. absolutely the most amazing combination since peanut butter and jelly, and you young lady are absolutely a Master chef Bravo and thank you Chef
I really like how you outlined all your procreate skills with a time-lapse. This was impressive!! When I first started drawing on RUclips I wasted so much time manually coloring things. Now I know to use the reference option! Awesome job!
I am in the middle of taking an online class (not on Skillshare), and I love that this is like a quick Cliffnotes of everything. I'm not done with the class, so I don't know if we'll cover everything you covered, but your quick rundown is awesome. I was hoping you'd say you teach a class on Skillshare at the end because I would take one from you. There just isn't enough classes out there for Procreate.
This is so helpful for when I would like to make my own custom pins or drawings 😃 I’m no professional artist but I enjoy experimenting with small characters 🖤
This is by far the. best. procreate introduction video on RUclips. Not boring because your personality makes it fun to watch and the best detailed too! I'll be sure to subscribe and keep an eye on your channel to see what other bits and bobs I can learn from you! X
To avoid accidentally drawing on your art with your hand, make sure to turn on the “Disable Touch Gestures” on the settings feature. Once you’re in the setting feature click on “Gesture Controls” and then you’ll find that option there. It will not turn off the generic touch features such redo, undo, etc.
I love you so much Echo, I started with your sketchbook tours and then became a stan immediately... you have inspired so many of my art pieces and I am so grateful. 💕 🌟
Thank you so much for this! As someone who’s about to dive into the world for the first time EVERE (ordered iPad waiting for it to arrive) this was SO helpful!!!
This was super helpful! I’m just getting into using procreate after using flipaclip (a fairly limited app) for so long and I’m slowly discovering new things about this app, I’m really excited to open up procreate and begin to experiment with these tips, as I used to colour in my work like you would on pencil and paper which can be REALLY time consuming. Also, 69th like over here 😳😳
@Just Some Wendigo With Internet Access actually for most things i do, it was one of the better apps i used over Adobe sketch (which was my first art app and isn't good i dont recommend) so ye kinda get used to it XD
Yep! Procreate is only for iOS. If you want a powerful digital art app for Android and desktop, I recommend Medibang Paint. It's a free program with a ton of features.
I use Android phones. But I do my artwork on the iPad Pro 12.9 in. Highly recommend it don't worry that your dad doesn't like apple. I really don't like apple I can't stand their phones but the fucking iPad is fucking awesome.
My dad hates apple too haha but maybe in the future you can get an iPad when you’re more independent and can get things yourself procreate is also very worth it haha
That's what I used to think. Finally got an iPad which didn't change my mostly negative view on it's OS. Got procreate only to be disappointed. It's not all that. So you're not missing much. Feels more like an experimental art app. I like diving right in with a responsive and simple pen tool. A lot of the art tools have a latency stroke issue because it tries to smooth out your lines. I find it so annoying!!! Can it be adjusted? Yes, you have to go through this convoluted menu first. Why?! It should be the other way around. The masking tools for layers are excellent, but I'm more interested in art tools responding to what I want without smoothing features I have to adjust. The other odd brushes are good for painterly effects, but.. sigh.. it's like this, you're spending hundreds of dollars for the iPad, then buying the app (cheap) only for the novelty of brush tools you probably haven't used before and probably won't bother with after checking them out of curiosity. Infinite painter is better in my opinion as it has the tools I normally use and is as responsive as I like it to be. When Adobe releases it's new ipad version of Illustrator then I'll feel my purchase was really worth it. For now, I'm good and happy with artflow on my Galaxy Note 8.
Thank you so much! Have been using this for a few months now and wasn't aware of recolour have been dragging each colour into each place, feel a bit daft now haha you're the first RUclipsr to mention it!
I very much enjoyed this video. I am new to Procreate and wanted to use it to make some cards. I found a lot of super tips in your video such as referencing your line art from you color layer, cloning, and text. Thank you for this!
Hi. New person here.🙋🏽♀️ Your background tripped me out SO bad. I was like “why is that lamp so big?! Is she in a tiny room? Maybe she’s a little person?! What is going on?!” Then I browsed through your videos and saw you had a tour of your DESK!🤦🏽♀️🤣 Watching that next...

Echo, how the heck did you know I JUST got an iPad Pro and JUST got procreate and am horribly clueless to how it works?! Truly a godsend 🙏🏽
lol same I got mine today 😂
Mee too!!! I got mine on Monday and brought procreate yesterday!!
I got mine a month ago and I still haven't figured it out.
same i got procreate like a few weeks ago???
Filippa talk about timing 🌟
I like how you posted this while I was drawing on procreate-
*oh my god she really is*
Totally synchronic!!🔮🧞♂️🧞♀️✨🤍⚛
Unrelated but your pfp and name is such a gay agenda :p

SAME I'M ABOUT TO TRY IT RN!!!!
@@izzydoodlez7354 It works just like that and wow this really made things easier and faster ... I feel a bit stupid for not knowing this earlier xD
To be fair coloring also improves your fine line technique but when you just need something filled its great.
You could just use colour drop
Wait what ? I have watched the whole video and I can’t find that bit!
Everyone knows the feeling of doing that tap motion on literally everything. My phone, sketchbooks, apps that don’t do that, I even did it in just a standard Wacom tablet that was hooked up to a computer it’s become part of my life.
Remembering that time i tried to zoom in on a paper 🤣
Rose Jasmin Weasley I was drawing on a table in my art classroom a few months ago and tried to turn the table haha
Rose Jasmin Weasley I did that yesterday i tried to zoom in and double tap, i’m glad it’s not just me ahaha

Bruh me xD
My camera screen and my mp3 player get me every time. Why aren't they touchscreen?!
God this woman is my absolute idol
I clicked so fast and woo boy I did not regret it. I struggle with Procreate/digital art, so this was perfectly timed.
One thing I love is going into "canvas information" and then "statistics" and it tells you how long you have spent on the artwork!
Oh yeah I do that all the time 😅 my longest piece took 36 hours
Wow! I was just telling my husband that I hadn't been able to figure out the basics on Procreate and watched a few videos and STILL didn't get it! That is, until I watched YOURS! I still cant believe that the background is not a room. 😂😂😂😂
Is it a greenscreen?
@@bloodwolfbono5241 Nah, it's just her desk. But people somehow see it as a whole room behind her, maybe bc of the cabinet idk

Right handed people: OMG it is SO hard to draw on a iPad at first! My hand keeps touching it!
Left handed people: Imagine how tired we are. Imagine how tired we are.
I feel that XD
That is so true though I cannot tell you how accurate that is
The Apple Pencil has palm rejection + you can choose what your dominant hand is
Who’s a left handed
You can switch the layout
Not really?
It has palm rejection.
That glove she’s wearing is unnecessary here.
I guess it’s just habit?
It's been months since I've made digital art (because I accidentally broke my iPad and I've been saving for a new one 😬), but still, occasionally I double tap my sketchbook paper when I need to undo something and it takes me a second to remember I'm not drawing on my iPad when the line doesn't disappear 😳 lol

Feistea Nah it was the charging port on my iPad Air that was broken not the screen. I ended up buying an iPad Pro so I upgraded and it all worked out.
Same! One of the best beginner Procreate tutorials . Informative. Doesn’t get bogged down. To the Point. TYSM Echo!
Also just so you know if you got to preferences you can turn off something that keeps your hand from drawing

Never seen someone pronounce gif “g-i-f”
Is it weird I pronounce it either
gif
G-I-f
And jif?
Its gif not jif and that's facts
Normalize G-I-F
It is Jee Eye Eff!
I was wondering if that was her way of cleverly dodging the gif/jif controversy
As a person who just transitioned to Procreate on an iPad from Procreate Pocket this is a huge help- Thank you-
I just started to use procreate and this was sooo helpful thank youuu!❤️
I’ve had procreate for a year and have never touched the adjustment tool but now I think it’ll become part of my art! Thanks Echo!!
Thank you so much for this video! I got Procreate and I was so confused this helped me so much! Love your vids!
I know next to nothing about digital art, and this video made me feel competent as a beginner. Thank you, Echo.

You’re my life saver! This is way better than anybody else’s breakdown that I found so far.
