Irrespective of whether Taiwan is considered a country or not does not automatically cede the sovereignty to China.
The fact is that there are no internationally recognized treaties, policies or UN resolutions that state that Taiwan is part of China.
In fact, Taiwan was not even included into the PRC constitution until 1978.
Taiwan has been under the partial control of 5 different regimes in the last 400 years in which it was only Japan who first governed the entire island. In fact the non-Han non-Mandarin speaking Qing (like the Mongols considered barbarians by the Han Chinese) only controlled about 1/5 of the island while the indigenous people controlled the majority.
The only legal way that Taiwan can amalgamate with China is if they agree to a treaty ceding their sovereignty.

There are no internationally recognized treaties, policies. agreements or even UN resolutions that state that Taiwan is part of China. fact
1: Mao as demonstrated in the Marxist Archive supported Formosa's independence in 1936. Fact
2: The Cairo Declaration 1943 discussed the possibility of handing the island of Taiwan to the ROC. This discussion required a treaty to become official and was never implemented. FACT
3: October 1, 1949, at 3:00 pm in Tienanmen Square the formation of the Central People's Government under the leadership of the CPC, the government of the new state, was officially proclaimed. Mao declared victory to the people stating “The poor peasants have conquered the country; the poor peasants should now sit on the country.” “It is because we have defeated the reactionary Kuomintang government backed by U.S. imperialism that this great unity of the whole people has been achieved. In a little more than three years the heroic Chinese People's Liberation Army, “ The CPC won the civil war and the PRC was formed and the ROC escaped to the still official Japanese island of Formosa in 1949 The war is over. FACT
4: In 1949 the ROC escaped to the still official Janese island of Formosa. Fact
5: In 1952 The Treaty of San Francisco was formalised and Japan relinquished its sovereignty of Taiwan. The treaty was signed by 49 nations but both the ROC and CCP were NOT present. FACT
6: The Soviet Union was unhappy with the Treaty of San Francisco therefore the Treaty of Taipei was created in 1952.
Article 10 of the Taipei Peace Treaty stipulates that “nationals of the Republic of China shall be deemed to include all the inhabitants and former inhabitants of Taiwan (Formosa) and Penghu (the Pescadores).” Therefore the Taipei Peace Treaty transferred Japans sovereignty of Taiwan to ALL the inhabitants living of the island NOT to mainland China. FACT The inhabitants in 1952 were the ROC escapees, Taiwanese Aborigines, Japanese descendants, Dutch descendants, Portuguese descendants, previous Chinese descendants. THE ISLAND WAS NOT HANDED TO MAINLAND CHINA. FACT
7: In 1971 “UN Resolution No. 2758 ruled in , that the PRC had obtained the representation rights and all legal rights originally owned by the ROC in the UN”. It is true that UN recognition was handed to the CCP as they were the ruling government of China not the ROC . The officially written UN resolution does not state that Taiwan is part of China. FACT
8: In 1979 the One China Policy was created and agreed to by both the US and CCP.
To quote directly from this US/CCP 1979 agreement (1982 version is the same): "The Government of the United States of America acknowledges the Chinese position that there is but one China and Taiwan is part of China." This statement does not declare that the Taiwan is part of China. It merely states that the US acknowledges or recognizes China's position or opinion that Taiwan is part of China. The US acknowledges or recognizes China's point of view. E.g I can acknowledge that my friend is a Republican even though my political stance may be Democrat it does not state that Taiwan is part of China. Therefore the One China Policy 1979 does not state that Taiwan is part of China.
9: In 1979 Taiwan Relations Act 1979 was released at the same time as One China Policy signed by the US and Taiwan
The TRA factually proves that the US is not meddling in Taiwan's affair it is merely fulfilling its obligations as per the agreement. FACT To quote from TWA: "Declares it to be the policy of the United States to preserve and promote extensive, close, and friendly commercial, cultural, and other relations between the people of the United States and the people on Taiwan, ".... "Authorizes the President or any department and agency to conduct and carry out programs, transactions, and other relations with respect to the people on Taiwan." Therefore the Pelosi visit or any official governmental visit is legitimate and of no concern to the CCP. FACT 10: TRA also declares: "that the United States shall provide Taiwan with arms of a defensive character and shall maintain the capacity of the United States to resist any resort to force or other forms of coercion that would jeopardize the security, or social or economic system, of the people of Taiwan." Therefore again the US is NOT meddling into Taiwan/China affairs it is again fulfilling its obligatory agreement irrespective of the CCP's propagandist responses. FACT
11: Taiwan is not part of China. The only legal way that the CCP can unify with Taiwan is via an official written treaty. Fact

One other weakness that Taiwan has is Taiwan's energy infrastructure, it's an island, it's not like Germany that you guys can buy them from France (i.e. your grid is not isolated). And they (Taiwan's power plants) are also near saturation. All China needed to do is to get rid of those first, then trying to control their airspace accompanying with blockade around the island. So US must react pretty fast if it wishes to act. Additionally China is also very good with hacking.
But any sort of provocation will probably spark a global blockade. I highly doubt China will do anything rash. Last time the US flew its aircraft 41 NM away from China's coast and China did nothing, which shows China can only give last warning.

Look at what happened to Hong Kong in 2019. Look at what has been happening for decades in Xinjiang. Look at what has been happening for decades in Tibet. Look at what's been happening to the Fallun Gong in China for decades.
Once you understand the scale of their censorship, oppression, genocide, organ harvesting, biological warfare, IP theft, fentanyl and a lot of other drug trafficking, human trafficking, etc, you may know why someone wouldn't want to be part of China under the rule of the CCP.
And this is just the start of the list.

Nope, no one in their right mind is gonna side with Hawaii is they ever try to get their independence…the fact that we think we can defend Taiwan over some semiconductors and start WWIII with China it’s beyond absurd, Taiwan is constitutionally part of China and they’ve been patiently maneuvering for peaceful reunification for decades, we want a foothold next to China and we want to control the trade routes in the Taiwan strait, stop the narrative that we actually care about Taiwanese people
