      I'm glad you think I was doing okay with the narrative part. I am always impressed with guys like Collin (ADV Squared) or Kyle (Dirt Bike Channel) who can go on and on while they ride, with out getting side tracked in conversation. And they always have something interesting to talk about. I feel like I'm babbling about whatever comes my way, haha.
      Your turn for adding to the "camberish" challenge.

      I ride with a few different people and groups, but the Enduro Group in this video is Broken Enduro. They have a website and RUclips channel as well, if you want to see what the group is all about. Planned rides each month, charity events, etc. But they are specific to Southern California. If you're outside of California, I'd probably recommend looking on the forums like Thumpertalk 👍

    • @americandirtrider7662
      @americandirtrider7662  4 года назад

      @@michaelwhalen8165 If you live in California, I would strongly recommend buying something that is factory street legal. Like a KTM, Husqvarna, Beta, or even an older Suzuki DRZ400. Don't count on buying a bike and trying to make it street legal later, unless you live in a state that's easier to do so. Being plated gives you so much more opportunity to ride anywhere you want without waiting for certain seasons or having to avoid certain fire roads and trails. As for what bike, that really depends on what your price range and riding style is. I love my Beta 500 more than any enduro / dual sport I've every ridden. But the KTM or Husky 350 are a lot of fun, or even the Beta 390 for a bit more torque. But for half the price, the DRZ400 is a great way to go for dual sporting. It will never be as lightweight as a modern bike, but they last forever and have lots of aftermarket support. If you don't plan on ever hitting the legal areas, a two stroke 300cc is a fantastic platform for the really hard stuff. Lightweight, and lots of power. Biggest thing for me though, is having a wide ratio transmission to crawl through the rocky sections and still hit highway speeds on the same trip. But definitely read the forums and see what people love about their bikes. Keep me posted on what you're looking at! We would be happy to share the knowledge that we've learned through our own mistakes, haha.

      That's a shame to hear. I haven't been back out to this area in a couple years, so I haven't seen it. But that seems to be the case with a few of my favorite places to ride. And I also worry about how fast they come around blind corners and down fire roads. It takes no skill to drive a SXS at extreme speeds, it only takes money.

      Hah, well thank you for that. In truth, it's only intimidating the first time. But the soil isn't as loose as I thought it would be. I thought it was going to be a 10-story sand dune. The camera also doesn't really show how steep or how sketchy some things can be. But yeah, I've improved a bit since this ride, so making it up is not even a thought anymore.
