    This video kinda makes me glad I ride Motocross now 🤔 I used to only ride trails like this.... When we introduced our daughter into riding we chose to try Motocross for the first time. One thing I have noticed, the amount of wear on my bike at the track is likely 5 fold. A full tank of gas used to last me 6-8 hours of ride time, and now I'm lucky to get 3 hours out of it 🤣🤣
    Beautiful ride guys thanks for sharing 🙌

      I do agree about MX being a bit harder on the bike. They are both definitely a different type of fitness as well. I'm mostly a desert rider, slowly being forced into this enduro world 😄

    "Great to see other riders use hand signals...or not"! I can't believe you didn't capture that MacGyver repair job for the audience. It was a Rube Goldberg zip tie special! Devon was bustin a Cody Webb move with that rocky step-up right turn in Lake Arrowhead. Fun fact: that is the only place I fell on that entire ride - not White Mountain, Malcolm Smith, etc...Fun fact #2: Only place I fell during the BBTR ride as well. When you were talking about brake pads i definitely concurred. The front brake on my Beta 500 is really grabby going into corners. What brand are those flag guards? I just replaced my right flag guard with the oem one but man they are spendy!

    • @americandirtrider7662
      @americandirtrider7662  4 года назад +1

      I had the same problem with my previous bike (husky 350). I think it's because the brakes have to work well enough on the pavement, which makes them way too powerful on the dirt.
      They are a Brazilian company called Circuit. These ones are really hard to find, but i was able to get them through Tom at Sierra Motorcycle Supply. They aren't even that expensive, and the quality is better than the stock Beta guard. I'll call him today and ask what the part number is if you're interested.

    Looks like a fun ride! That hill looked no joke. 'Been there...' We did Taylor Pass up to back side of aspen Mtn this past summer. Just up n up n up over rock fields. Grip giving out and want to stop to rest, but if you do...getting started again to get that momentum back up wears you out. Was a rough day. My plated bike is a Husky 701. GREAT bike...but it gets 'big' some times. Wonder if I'd make up that hill or that water crossing...ugh.

      Hey Burner, thanks for the comment! Man it's crazy how fast you can get worn out on a hill like this. And it really just doesn't end. You're absolutely right about getting out of a dead stop, being extremely tiring. But it's a battle with your forearms wanting to give up, haha. I've been on the KTM 690. • @americandirtrider7662
      @americandirtrider7662  Год назад

      You mean you don't know for sure how many people are behind you? Usually if it's a lot, you flash the "five" sign a couple times to show there's a lot of people. Or I guess you could do some other type of slow down signal. I definitely worry about it even more now that side by sides are crazy popular. Those can go 0 to 60 so fast, so I'd hate for one of those to pass me and speed up right into my friends or family around the corner.

    Motoz makes great tires. I use the Desert H/T as a front tire in central AZ to good effect. The S/T are not bad but they chunk out for me in road use, where the H/T have usable road performance.
    I miss San Bernaghetto mountains. The 500 seems to work well on the terrain. You did really well in some of the rutted rocky sections of single track, the Beta is just such a tractor a low revs.
    Gassing out at altitude isn't just for carb'd bikes, its for the rider too.

    • @americandirtrider7662
      @americandirtrider7662  3 года назад

      I haven't actually tried the H/Ts from Motoz, but I had slippery experience with other H/T type tires from other manufacturers. I think I'm just hesitant to try another one, since I like the way soft terrains seem to work in the places I ride. But yes, the do get beat up quicker.
      San Bernaghetto 😄 That is accurate for some of the places out there. So far, the Beta 500 has been my favorite bike for all around riding. It was a little tiring on that AZ single track day (from a previous video), but was a few other factors. The way the Beta 500 delivers power is pretty amazing; very usable for crawling, or for flat out speed. If I went with anything else, maybe a Beta 300 two stroke.
      Thanks by the way! I think I had a few short bursts through the rocks, but we were getting so beat up. And you definitely feel the lack of oxygen when you really need it up there. Haha

    Which Kendas where you running before. I'm currently running the washugal on the front and the Trackmaster on the rear. I don't have a ton of confidence in the front but it's ok.

    • @americandirtrider7662
      @americandirtrider7662  4 года назад

      I was using the Washougal 2 front and rear. I guess they have the 3 out now, which may be worth a try. But I will day the Motoz tires felt better right away. The Washougal was probably the most stable tire in the sand I've ever used, but not great for the trails we do.
      I have the Trackmasters on Jess' bike. It's a little hard to tell the true performance of the tire on such a mellow bike, but they seem okay. Better rear than front in my opinion.
