hi hydr0wry, from your tutorial I have created my own based on this video. If it's okay for you and you give me your permission I'll post it shortly. Of course I mention you in the description and there will be the link to this video.
Hi thanks to your video I would like to mount them on my g29 but is it possible to mount them on the g29? How do I do that? Do you have a video? Amazon link where can I buy those palettes with real keys? Thank you
Followed instructions and this worked. Could you give us an idea of how to edit the script to ensure that the turn signal doesn't go off until you move the lever back? Otherwise currently the game turns the signal off after the turn while the stalk is still in the indicating position.
Thanks a lot for the tutorial. Somehow my full beam won't work - mapped to my button 8 on arcade board it just doesn't light up. Another problem is that inverting the 5v and ground didn't work for me so my low/full beam turn on together and front/back fog lights turn on together
I was wondering what to do with the old indicator stalk I took out my 106...... now I have a fantastic project for the weekend. 1 question: Can I just use the stalk & board on it's own (without the need for the script?)
You need the script for some functions to work properly. If you turn on the lights, the "joystick" will close the contact and holds it down. The game will see it as a key press that is never released. If you turn of the lights, nothing will happen. To turn off the lights, you would have to turn them on and off a second time. The script changes the behaviour to short keypresses. There's the option to have the correct toggle switch settings for the turn signals, but it required modifying the input settings file for the game.
Hello, do you maybe know any site where I could find the stalk diagram or if you can explain how to use the tester to figure out how to properly wire the stalk. I got a different stalk and can't find a diagram so I have no idea how to wire it.
Continuity testing with a multimeter is your friend here. Be prepared to find some wiring pairs that might appear confusing. I had a Volvo stalk for turn indicating, high-beam signalling and high-beam constant on along with cruise control settings that probably used a wire pair for high beam signalling that among the signal sides closed a contact, and had a pair between a ground and one of those signal wires going closed. I take it this is because of the fact that the signalling function might require to keep functioning outside of ignition circuits being switched on, or it limits high-beam constant on, not sure. I routed my stalk through an Arduino Leonardo because I had to be able to distinguish between high beam signalling and high beam constant on because games didn't understand the difference otherwise (high-beam signalling made ETS2 go to high beam constant on, for instance) and this way, I can differentiate between high-beam on and high-beam signalling: the input on the signalling wire is ignored when the wire pair (pin to ground) for constant high beams on is high. That way I can switch them actually on with the stalk, and not switch them off just by tapping into the signalling function of the stalk (it spring-returns into normal position when high beams is engaged fully). You might be capable of looking up the part number to find a wiring sheet. If you are unlucky (basically like I was) you will find manufacturer specific names for some of the wires involved, and you will have to resort to continuity testing.
Great tutorial, I am however having issues when using with ETS. The Joystick tester worked fine, as did the script. But when I run ETS it seems to send random keystokes too. Right blinker, turns on blinker AND pauses the game, Left turms on blinker and throttle. Horn was working, but now changes the rear view mirrors! Any ideas?
Maybe a bit late, but I guess you had the keyboard keys defined in the script for like pause and throttle in game and simultaneously used the direct inputs as buttons in ETS.
@@drstefankrank thank you for the reply, I did sort it after messing around for way too long, and it was Steam Input trying to use the stalk as a joystick! Disabling steam input sorted it
Thank you for this write-up! I bought the parts and assembled it; however, the testing webpage shows my left blinker constantly on (unless I unplug the wire). Would this be a faulty indicator stalk, or do I need to correct my wiring?
Just to follow up on this in case anyone else sees the comment and has the same issue. It turned out to be a wiring issue - one of the connectors was slightly touching one of the other connectors. I insulated them a bit better and it now works correctly.

Hello, I have made the wiring but I haven’t use any shared wire and it is working as expected. Is it fine leaving it that way or I might have problems in the future? Thanks

Brilliant tutorial. I've followed it and the indicator works in ets2. I need to do the hotkey coding though. The joystick test isn't picking up my joystick. Any help would be much appreciated
I didn't bother writing a script for no reason, binding the joystick to the game doesn't work properly because, for example, turning on the left blinker acts as pressing down a key and turning it off then releases that key, but in game you need to press the key twice, once to turn on and once for off. The script gives a realistic behavior by sending two inputs, one on activation and one on release
