Man, this remind me when i first time played ETS2. I go to Keybinds setting, and when i first look at it i just like "Dear god". With the amount of key setting
Another keybind option that good to know is Cruise Control Resume. With this option activated with a keybind, if you're driving at a certain speed and have to show down or stop all of a sudden, when speeding up again and the speed limit crosses 30 km/h or mph and you activate that keybind, the Cruise Control Resume will take you back up to the speed you had before slowing down.
Engine brake and retarder are two different systems. The retarder is fitted to the transmission output shaft. The engine brake, does not change any gears. It shuts of the fuel supply to some of the cylinders, turning a portion of the engine into a compressor. That is why the sound changes to varying degrees when the engine brake is activated. The higher the setting, the more cylinders that are being used to brake, 1, 2, or 3, in the case of a 6 cylinder engine. With a retarder, there is a flywheel of sorts fitted to the drive shaft, and an electro magnet is use to ‘push back’ on the shaft rotation. When using the retarder in ETS2. You will hear a whine as it is activated. The engine brake, is called a ‘Jake’ brake by most North American drivers. And it’s annoying when some jerk going by my house, on a flat road, things it’s cool to have it barking as he comes to the light!😡
I think we call it a Jake Brake in the US because of the first person to make it. It was "Jacob's Engine Brake" originally. Kind of like how all tissues get called kleenex or all adjustable wrenches become crescent wrenches. In the south they apply the concept to soda, everything is a coke, even a mountain dew.
For the cruise control speed, I recommend using the mouse wheel instead of the page up and page down button, it's easier for the control and even better if you use your mouse for steering.
I prefer the wheel for the retarder, just shut off cc and scroll down to activate each level. IMO this is much more important - breaking and control is always more of priority than using cc increase or decrease.
I also use keyboard and mouse while playing this and the most groundbreaking thing that i've discovered is that you can bind the gear up and gear down to the scroll on the mouse, it's like playing in a automatic but you have more control. And I put bind the indicators to the left and right mouse buttons because it's way more comfortable and I have more keys to bind to.
I use Cruise control adjust all the time :) I've set it by 5km/h, that way you can easily slow or speed up when entering/leaving the city, construction site etc. If you have automatic retarder or engine brake allowed in the setting, it slows down with one of those option - for example in Quick jobs truck usually don't have retarder. When you ajust the speed down while having Cruise control on, it breaks with Engine brake automatically :-)
I use a wheel to play and already use most of what you showed, and BTW, to be more realistic, you can just assign a button for electricity and then to start the truck, assign the same button button but in hold mode :]
7:13 It is possible to disable the automatic start of the engine when the accelerator pedal is pressed, so that the engine does not start without pressing the appropriate button. There are more and more functions and I already miss the keys on the keyboard.
Why didn’t You mark the video and put all the information into description section? That way would have been easier for us to keep in mind and find what we need.

For the people who can't find the Cruise control display on certain trucks, you can also change the menu information in the center display (handle), by going in settings and changing the 'Dashboard Display Mode' (it's below Cruise Control resume). I couldn't find in my new scania that display of the CC which left me very dissapointed, and then I learned you can switch between information with that setting lmao

Yeah you can assign those views in the options to the dpad on the wheel, (⬅️Look left, ➡️Look right, ⬆️Zoom, ⬇️Reset center) for exaple, also I recommend you look for the mod "smooth interior camera" because by default the game jumps between views and personally I dont like it, the mod simulates the head turning.
