Ditto, excellent video. I especially appreciated your explaination for what happens when your fuel tank tube toggle sealer won't stay sealed. Mine does so, its something else.
Thanks for the video. This is the only one I have found that helps with changing this out and diagnosing the problem. Luckily for me mine falls under the 15 yr 150,000 mile warranty still. 13N101 is the warranty number for anyone having this issue.
Thank you Aaron James! I was scheduled to have the filler neck replaced at the dealer for around $1000.00 until I saw your warranty number! I just picked up my 2010 Mountaineer today and the cost to me was ZERO! You saved me a thousand bucks! Funny how the dealership said nothing about this warranty.
How do you go about getting this under warranty? I bought used and after a year the cap on the inside broke and i can barely get the tank filled. Do you just go to a ford dealership and give that warranty number to them?
@@zacharyroberts5674Hi, your vehicle needs to be under 15 years old and also needs to be under 150,000 miles for them to honor it. Call you Ford service department. Give them that warranty number. Also the age, miles and the vin of your vehicle. Hope that helps.
Hope you see this. Do I just call and give them that warranty number? No other questions asked and is that warranty number linked to someone else cause my truck is down currently.
Great video! Thanks alot!👍 Can you or anyone tell me where the best price is to buy one of these filler necks? My Explorer needs one and I about crapped when I seen how much they cost! That's just ridiculous! Around $400 for one of these darn things is just robbery! That's nearly half the cost of a new GM 350 long block! There's no reason for these filler neck to cost near $400! Does anyone know a good place to buy one of these necks in where you can save a few bucks? Thanks👍
Should fuel leak on the underside of the fuel filler neck when topping off the tank? It's my first time having a capless system and everytime I fill up there is a small puddle on the ground under the rear fender/bumper on the underside of the fuel filler neck. Thank you!
quick question, there are after market products which require cutting 6 inches or so of the existing filler neck and replacing the head so the car can receive a normal cap. any experience with this? (Easy Fuel Capless Fuel Filler Neck / Cap Conversion Replacement Head)
Casey, the Amazon part you list CL8Z9034A, looks nothing like the part you are replacing. The Spectra FN1121 looks exactly like the part you are replacing but costs twice as much. Which is the correct one? And we are talking about a 2010 Ford Explorer
Casey, my bad, I did not look at the Ford logo thinking it was a decal. I will say this, like most auto parts , the price is all over the place. From $287.00 to $505.00
Hmmm.... I'm getting a p0456 on a 2015 edge. Does the Push the filler door test apply to these cars as well? I'm talking about Pushing with your finger should not open the latch.
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow ahh I see. I just notice that some of these cap less systems have a pre door latch that you CAN push while the real latch if further down. But good info.
Must be a leak somewhere though. The computer wouldn't lie. Smoke test works well to find leak you can make your own smoke machine also for pretty cheap. There are some good videos on it
NoNonsenseKnowHow ok thanks. Had this thing for a week and the inner door broke off and I can’t figure out how to get it off. First trip to the gas station :(
fords capless system is garbage, my 2007 diesel Mondeo takes for ever to fill up, the new fast flow pumps swamp the neck of the filler and cut the pump out, its a design fault, ford will go back to the old filler caps, you watch,
It's a stupid idea all together. If it's not broke don't fix it. I didn't realize the car I bought had one of these 'easy fuel' tanks. I knew it'd cause problems once I seen it and sure enough
the trick is to put the fuel hose into the filler all the way in and take your hand off and let it hang, wait five seconds and then fill car with fuel but don't move the filler hose up or down, sideways, in or out, then it will fill no problem, or mine does, Ford really managed to wreck a good filler system, fords were always good for filling up,
@@sicks6six thankfully I don't have problems filling up. But thank you just in case. I couldnt get rid of a p0456 code but I bought a cap for the tank that locks and it went away so well see

This is also on a 2012 Ford Fusion. I have this problem now. I'll check with Ford to see if it is still an active warranty.

Thanks for this video. It helped me a lot when I did the job. Sadly for me I also broke the lower tab on that plastic insulator around the neck :-(
Thanks for the ''no nonsense'' video, very helpful !
Thanks for the info, all stuff and no fluff, like it.
No problem! Thanks for dropping a comment
EXCELLENT JOB WELL DONE 👏
Thanks
so there was no gas cap that could of sealed it just right?? couldn't saran wrapped worked to seal it tighter than to replace that?
Was filer neck the cause for code P0456 evap very small leak 🤔 ?

I haven't personally seen or used that option but it sounds like a great idea! I don't see a reason why it would be a problem
Another Ford "better idea" that ends up costing a bundle to fix a bad design. Why not just use an actual gas cap? $10.00 and you're done.
I agree. Capless fuel fillers are stupid. Guess too many people were forgetting to put the gas cap back on so they thought it would be a good idea
i have the same code, but that tab stays shut like its supposed to for me,doesnt move at all

Would this problem cause the check engine light to come on?
yes
Mine locks perfectly but still got this code. What should I do sir ?
Can someone plz fix the dam flappy door with tabs is it not able to be repaired
How much roughly is the labour to replace one, I have a focus and the latch is broken and I'm tired of using my finger to keep pushing it open
I don't recall what it was exactly. It should take you about an hour tops
My 2010 Explorer, $990.
Does this work for P0457 as well?
It may. Best would be to check for leaks on your filler
This is the code I got mine locks you think with a clean up and a fuel cleaner will do the JOb?
Mine ended being because my purge canister valve was bad. I slapped in a new one and that was all it took.
If you see a Capless Gas System in a car then run away. Do
should be a recall
yea
I replaced this part and the check engine still came back on with the same code. any ideas?
