Just changed the Canister Purge Valve on my 2010 Ford F150. Got the valve from WalMart online believe it or not. Then I purchased a OBDII Scanner at WalMart for $19.99 and cleared the error code myself. It took about a minute. The Purge Valve is located at the top back of the engine on the 5.4L engine but it only had one 8mm screw holding it on. There are two clamps holding the hoses in place that come off very easily. This video saved me a bunch of money. Thanks
Thanks for this - you just saved me over $2,000 compared to what my local Ford dealer quoted to fix the issue! Didn't take me more than 20 minutes and it feels great to be able to do this myself.
Dude, that test you showed by pulling the plug and using your thumb to check vacuum was awesome and helped me check mine. I don't have vacuum test tools but I do have a thumb lol. Thanks bro!
Thank you for this video! I have a 2013 Ford Edge with a 3.5 and 120,000 miles. I followed your instructions and it fixed the P0456 error and got rid of the check engine light!
I realize this is an old video but thank you for the simple fix showing what codes this fixes. The only thing that complicates this job is when you drop one of the purge valve bolts.
Thank you ! My wife has a 2012 Escape... the P0456 popped up today. Did your test and after unplugged it was still getting suction, went to an auto part place, grabbed a replacement one for $16.99, Popped it in (it's in the front of the motor, took a whole 3 min to swap) and re-did the test. No suction after being unplugged. Too bad the code will take time to go away, my wife does under 20 miles in a week. I would pull the battery, but, she's worried about losing presets and Blue-tooth settings.
Dave Evans you can buy a code reader on amazon for like $20 and reset it that way. Or probably go to a local parts store and ask them to reset the check engine light.
2010 Fusion Felt vacuum, without electrical connection and swapped out part. No Vacuum, Code 1450 cleared but still have P0456 after driving 100 miles. Thanks for the video.
Thanks a ton for this video!!! It saved me a ton of money. I have a 2012 Ford Escape Engine light came on and I took it to Autozone to get the code (EVAP leak) Found your video and tested to see if there was suction and there was. Ordered the purge valve from your handy amazon link. Replaced it and a week later the engine light went off. Ford Dealership wanted $140 just to look at it!! THANKS !!!
Got a P0455, then multiple; seems every other day P0457 (Check Fuel Fill Inlet), codes starting about half a month ago. I checked the purge valve after finding this video of yours, and it was soooo stuck open. Also love your capless fuel filler video too, which I've also done now twice, before finding the purge valve being stuck open. Got a new purge valve, no more vacuum with the wire disconnected. Waiting to see if the truck resets its codes naturally now, I'm hoping the purge valve was the problem and not part of one. Oh, vehicle of mine is a 2010 F150, 4.6 L. 3V. Thanks so much!!!
Another great video. Thanks. My wife's 2012 Escape Hybrid Limited first had Code P0442. Cleaned and lubricated fuel filler cap, per your other video. Then, threw Code P0456. Replaced vapor canister purge valve. It's right on top of the engine, just in a different orientation. All good! Thanks!
I just called Ford customer service about this problem. Our 2010 F150 started having issues the last time we filled the gas tank. Today CNN reported a recall involving the canister purge valve in 2010 and 2011 Ford Fusions and Mercury Milans. They have no current recalls on the F150. Please make sure that if you have this problem to report it to Ford which involves having to have a dealer service department diagnose the problem so that a recall can be issued for the F150 as well.
Glad i seen your Pose Jose. My 2015 GT just yesterday gave the P1450 code and i was wondering if it affect us as well. I also am at like 34k miles. kinda of annoying for some to go bad that early in the cars life,
It worked!! Thank you very much. When I unplugged the electrical wire I didn't have the flutter noise but I had the suction as described in your video. I put the new valve in, tested it but had no flutter or suction with the electrical plugged in. So I decided to take it for a test drive. Came back home tested it again and it worked flawlessly as described no suction or flutter when unplugged. And suction and flutter when plugged in. So if what happened to me happens to you when you test the valve. Take it for a test drive after installing the new valve. Than test the valve. Thanks again!
Thank you so damn much!! ive been having issues with this code and weird engine days where acceleration just comes to a crawl and i had no idea how to test it, well watched this video ran outside real quick and the exact same problem! suction when everything was disconnected. going to replace today. thanks!
FordTechMakuloco, thank you so much. I wish I would have started here, before I paid over $96 for a test at the Ford Dealer, who found that my 2009 Escape had a large leak. However, after a smoke test, etc. they could not find where the leak was, I did your Purge Valve test and have ordered a new valve. Thank you very much. While I am waiting for the new valve, I am writing a letter to get back my "Test" money that I paid the dealer.
Thank you very meuch. For showing how it's done. The shop I went to wanted to much for a person who lives on a social security ck. God bless you for your expertise on f150. That's what I drive. And was having a problem with.
Just wanted to say thank you for the video. I was getting a P1450 on my 2010 Escape and shortly after the code popped I had it stall while idling at a light after filling up the tank. I was just about ready to jack the thing up to check out the evap system but fortunately found this video first. I suspect my valve was completely stuck because I was getting a weak vacuum (and no rattle sound) no matter if it was plugged in or not. I just replaced the part and now it's rattling away and no vacuum when disconnected.
Thanks so much for this! I ordered the part, tested my existing part and I'm definitely getting a little bit of suction. Of course, the other issue is that my current valve is missing a screw, so that's probably causing part of the problem. I'll go ahead and replace it, though, as the new ones have probably fixed the initial problem with the faulty valves. Can I make a suggestion for future videos? Can you back up and do a wider shot to start and then show exactly where the part is in the grand scheme of the engine compartment? When you start with the close shot, it's hard to tell if you're in the engine compartment, under the car, facing which direction, etc. It would really help to get some context first. Thanks for the great videos!
+Steven Leigh yup I have been doing that for almost a year now on the newer videos. I had to realize many never opened a hood before so you need to pan out then in or at least mention the location in the engine compartment
You're awesome, brother. Thanks for all you do. I love that you are so detailed and yet you keep it simple enough that even novices like me can get things fixed cheaply. I even did this fix in the dark and in light rain. :)
About every car I have owned over the last 10 years has had this problem. Two of them needed evap canister replacement (get a younger used one.) Others just needed the purge valve replaced. So dumb....
Hello Ford Tech Mak. I want to say "Thank you" for all the help you have given us Ford owners. Your videos have already helped me fix two problems in the past. (Tranny fluid leak on 2010 F-150 with 6R80. Evap canister purge valve on my wife's 2011 Explorer.) I have a new problem and wondered if you have done it, and if you could share a video on the fix. The passenger side blend door on my wife's explorer is apparently stuck. Blows warm air in front passenger vents no matter what you ask for. Not hot. Not cold. Just luke warm. How hard is it to access blend door actuator for front passenger side? Any advise is greatly appreciated.
It is pretty simple, first remove the glove box completely as shown in this video here- ruclips.net/video/kq1IjAtmruI/видео.html then look to the left and you will see it and it just unbolts from there.
My truck runs just fine no noises I cleaned out my fuel inlet with step and a clean micro fiber cloth today the code finally cleared off my dash screen I cleared the check engine symbol but I don't want that small leak to get worse.
Hi, love your site. I have a P0451 (evaporatore emission pressure sensor code) on my 2004 5.4 f150 lariat. I was hoping you might have some advise on wear I might start to check before I might have to take it to the dealership. any advise would be greatly appreasiated. thanks Jon.
+FordTechMakuloco I still get the codes po455 & po457 even though I have no suction. Should I change the part out anyways or could it be something else that is the problem. Thank you for your time. Hopefully I am making some since
Quick question.....2013 edge. Small and large evap leak.ran test .snap on solace..passed.light came back on after a few miles of driving.also I have erratic long starts first started.not while putting fuel in?? Has 200k ..thanks for any ideas .great videos
So no vacuum what so ever when the power is pulled? I have a 2011 f150 w/5.0 & after watching the video I tied the valve test & there was some vacuum w/the power pulled. As cheap as the part is I'm going to replace it cause there's nothing to repair anymore just replace it. Your video was easy enough to follow just not up to speed w/ all the new emissions controls that are on vehicles today.
Hi I have a 2103 fusion 2.0 eco-boost awd and after driving and it sits for about a half hour and we re-start to go it slowly looses idle and quits. I then can restart and go no problems. Just had the purge assembly on the engine replaced and it is still doing it. Have you ever ran into something similar?
Love your videos. Hope you can direct me. Shoot I have a P1450 on my 2013 F250 super Duty XLT 6.2L. I want to test the evap purge valve. Where is it located? Any pics would help! Thanks again!
I guess my situation was a stumper, I never did hear back from you on your face book page. I've been having that P0456 code on a 2014 F150 for about a year now. Not too long ago the fuel filler neck was replaced, and last week I replaced the canister purge valve. I've had a smoke test done and no leaks were found but I'm still getting that P0456 code. I'm out of ideas as it appears that the system is working just fine but the computer is seeing something but no one seems to be able to pin point the problem. I was hoping that you may be able to shed some light on this on going and irritating problem.
When I spoke with the service department regarding the P1450 for our 2010 F150, he felt it was not the valve located on the firewall but the valve located on the top of the gas tank. Of course, that is not something we can do on our own and will cost at least $500. Thoughts?
+FordTechMakuloco - thanks for the video. Great stuff. I had the 1450 code pop up (and had problems starting after a fill up). Replaced the purge valve and code never came back. Truck seems to run a little better now as well. Could it cause a low grade misfire when faulty?
Great video and easy repair. Would a faulty purge valve cause a P2450 code? That is what popped up from my check engine light coming on today. 2010 Ford Escape Hybrid. Thanks
2011 F150 5.0L: If the purge valve is bad, how strong is the vacuum once you disconnect the valve? I can’t really feel much of anything so I believe the purge valve is fine based on my interpretation of how strong the vacuum would be if the valve was bad. Last night I got the P0455 code after driving on the highway and getting on it pretty hard. A week ago I also got an error on the gauge cluster about the capless filler neck having a leak but after turning the truck off it went away and hasn’t come back. I’ve checked the capless “flap” and used the OEM funnel to open and close it a bunch to make sure there wasn’t any dirt in it. It could be a coincidence but it seems like both instances are related to whatever is going on. This code has me a little perplexed since the purge valve seems to be completely fine. I cleared the code and I guess I’ll continue to drive it and see if it comes back. If anyone has any suggestions please shoot me a DM or respond to my comment.
Just wanted to follow up on this in case anyone else experienced a situation where the purge canister valve wasn't making noise or it seemed fine from the troubleshooting test. I ended up just replacing the purge canister valve since it's so cheap and voila it fixed my issue. It also increased my fuel mileage a little bit.
I have a 2003 ford expedition with 5.4. With P0457. Mechanic said it’s my fuel cap. I’ve replaced twice, and seems it’s something else. Does the 03 ford models have purge valves?
I don't know if you will reply to me but I have a problem with my 2013 Ford Fusion SE 2.5l Ecoboost engine. I cannot locate purge valve on it. Can you make video or point me in right direction where to look for it? completely lost here. THank you in advance
Hoping this will solve my issue of fuel shutting off before the tank is full, with a P0456 code. Can you tell me where the purge valve is located on an 09 Escape with the 2.5l 4 cyl? Much appreciated!
FordTechMakuloco Thanks! Right after I wrote that I went back out and saw it right in front of me. Hope that replacing it, along with cleaning the capless fuel filler will solve the problem.
Any videos or suggestions for replacing on a Ford Transit Connect 1.6L 2016? The purge valve is tied to an entire harness assembly with 4 connectors, 2 of which are in impossible places to get to.
Is a P0455 code close enough to suspect the purge valve also? Everything I've seen says Gas tank lid...of which Ford in their infinite wisdom left off my 2012 Edge. I'm going to change and clear the code anyway. How fast could the canister fill with gas (bad thing) if I have to drive 2 days before it gets here (good thing)? Or could I plug the hose for those two days? Thanx so much for all your videos. (Still haven't attacked the familiar "driver's door open" switch yet...)
my daughter has a 2010 Mercury Mariner and she has the Po455 and Po457 code, now would that piece be in the same spot on her car? once that piece is changed will it get rid of both codes??
So if the purge and vent valves have been ruled out/replaced , would taping up the capless fuel fill receptacle on these to achieve a seal isolate out the fuel filler neck o ring as the culprit to a small evap p0456,( as long as it passes the drive cycle check)?
Please answer. I checked mine and the old one never had any vacuum on my thumb and never fluttered or made any noises. I installed a new one and it flutter with vacuum and the no vacuum when unplugged like you said. Should I be hearing the flutter when it's fully installed? I hear mine, it's pretty loud and now one I turn off the car I hear I pretty loud blowoff from it. Do I have another problem too like the hose is clogged or is all that normal? I have a 2011 Mustang GT 5.0. Please let me know. Thanks so much. Great video!
So i got the p0456 code on my 2013 Focus ST could it be the same issue? And is the sensor you are replacing the one on the Intake side/box? Please let me know. Thanks!
I changed my valve (also my solenoid at the tank), and just threw the P1450 code FOR THE 3RD TIME! 😡😡 I cleaned the fil,ear neck as per the other video too. It's a 2011 Fusion 3.5L. Any ideas left that might work? I'm at a loss now. 🤔😡
Thxs for the video. I have p0442 code (small leak) on 2006 Ford Explorer 4.0 L and turned to be due loose vapor hose under the fuel tank. It is the hose that goes to the vapor canister but can't know it's part number. Could you please help by telling me it's part number? Thxs in advance
Had code p1450 and replaced just the purge valve not the hose, it cleared the engine light but truck is still hard to start, unless I start it with gas cap off? Any info you could share!
I am trying to change this Purge Valve on a 2010 Fusion with the 3.0L V6. Is it common for the bracket to break? When I attempt to remove the bolts, the bracket is flexing and the bolts are not budging. There is no corrosion. The bracket appears to be part of the intake. Any advice?
Hi cool video I'm just wondering why my '15 Ford Fiesta only stalls after I refill the fuel tank then after I sit for about 5 to 10 minutes and pat the gas it'll start running okay. I am also pulling code p1450 though so I'm going to try to check vacuum, thanks for any info
I am going through this on my 2011 fusion 2.5l. my question is can I replace the current capless system with a regular gas cap system from another ford? just from the hose clamp on the filler neck up?
I tried this test on my wife's 2009 Mercury Mariner. Her's didn't flutter when I unplugged the hose, but I had suction with the connector both connected and disconnected. Does this mean the part is bad or good?
I have a 2015 Ford Escape with a P1450 code and for the life of me, can not find the canister purge valve. Any chance you can give me an idea of where it is at ????
I have a 2010 ford mustang GT 4.6 with a P0451 code. Could you tell me where the fuel tank pressure sensor is located and what another issues could be causing this code? i have been looking for information about p0451 but i couldn't find anything, thanks in advance!
Hey Daniel Diaz I've finally found the solution to this issue, and let me tell you, that the fuel tank pressure sensor is located under fuel tank and it's connected to a hose which surrounds the fuel tank, and to replace the sensor, you have to change the hole hose, cause it comes in one piece! (FTP+HOSE SURROUNDING FUEL TANK= 1 PIECE, YOU CAN´T BUY SEPARATELY THE FTP), if you solve ur issue let me know, regards!!
Israel Valdes Try changing your gas cap, had the same code for my 2010 Ford Focus and it took car of the problem. Cap is leaking a tiny bit of air into the tank and tripping that code because of changes in fuel tank pressure.
Hello. So is it neccessary to have the system calibrated? I'm quite sure I can change out the valve on a 2013 Fusion. But don't have the equipment to calibrate.
hello how are you? thank you for sharing your video. do you have to automatically replace the canister or can you just clean it and replace it? I'm getting this error message on my 2013 Ford explorer
Hi there, I was looking to get CM6Z-9A228-A, fuel tank isolation valve. Is there any way to fix it or it has to be replaced? I couldn't find that online here in Canada. Please help
Hi my 2012 ford f150 xlt came up with code P0456 I can see where there is a small leak in the hose that goes from the fuel inlet and the gas tank can I just replace the hose?
+FordTechMakuloco I ran your simple test and I have replaced the Canister Purge Valve on my 2012 Ford F-150 3.7L. The truck is still running poorly. Aside from sounding like the engine is bogged down, the oil pressure gauge has started to drop off during light acceleration. Any suggestions?
Hi I never seen thoses capless filler on any European car I was wondering what happens when it raining evrey time you put the nozzel in the hole where the wather goes in the tank I think I saw diesel truck with that system it would be even worse having droplets falling everry time it rainnig or you just wahed youre car.
i have a 2013 ford edge, i have already replaced purge valve and did what you said in to fuel filler maintenance vid. and i have also done a smoke test but didnt see any smoke escaping from evap system. p0465 code still exist, any further diag. ideas?
My 09 Escape 3.0 L started throwing a P0400 and P0403 code recently. I inspected the EGR Valve and lines above the intake cover. I changed out my battery/starter/alt wiring harness last week and though maybe I knocked something out of place. Could not find it. Any suggestions?
Hello, I have a 2016 Ford Mustang with this particular code as well. This part however according to amazon doesn't fit my vehicle. Could you assist me in finding the part for my model and year? And where to locate this particular part. Thanks so much.
Curious if you ever found out the cause of that code? What did they fix at shop? I’m thinking it’s my fuel inlet valve or possibly electrical. Thank you
Hi sir can this be applied to a mitsubishi galant 02 they are notorious for P0456 replaced gas cap several times and got oem model went away and came back after 2 months got p0401 code replaced egr valve and reset codes and went away no codes but 2 weeks later engine light P0456 code back on...can i do this procedure too most likely might be it any suggestions thank you
So is this the same part on the 2007 Mercury Milan? My check engine light is on. I have replaced the gas cap with a cap from the Ford dealership, and cleared the code. The code ended up coming back. I am actually reporting P0452 (Fuel tank pressure sensor condition), and a P1450 (Unable to bleed up fuel tank vacuum). P0452 says Fuel tank pressure sensor is defective, check connector/wiring, and check hoses and fittings. P1450 says blocked EVAP canister/vent solenoid, kinked or collapsed hose between canister and fuel tank, or failed fuel tank pressure sensor. Could this be a case of canister purge valve mentioned in this video? By the way....the video on replacing the temperature sensor in the dashboard for the same Milan was genius!! Got my air going on my own thanks to that. Now if I can just get rid of this check engine light being on I'd be in business....PLEASE HELP ME AGAIN!!
Frederick Boyd No on yours I would go after the fuelt tank pressure sensor code P0452. The wiring or the FTP sensor has failed and is used to check the evap system so the dtc P1450 is invalid at this point until the P0452 is addressed. It is part of the vapor tube that goes to the canister under the trunk. I have changed a few fore this concern but check the wiring and such. Do you top off your tank all the time?
FordTechMakuloco used to....bought a second car, and for most of the past year, have not been topping off due to the fact I may not get back in it for weeks at a time....can NOT filling the tank to max capacity cause this?
Just changed the Canister Purge Valve on my 2010 Ford F150. Got the valve from WalMart online believe it or not. This worked for my 2009 Ford Escape. God bless you. Thank God their's people like you out there helping the little man save money!!!
May God bless all people like this trying to help out the working man . Amen
Thanks for this - you just saved me over $2,000 compared to what my local Ford dealer quoted to fix the issue! Didn't take me more than 20 minutes and it feels great to be able to do this myself.
+Gregory Billson That's the idea glad to hear it's fixed!
Gregory Billson did the check engine light come off?
Dude, that test you showed by pulling the plug and using your thumb to check vacuum was awesome and helped me check mine. I don't have vacuum test tools but I do have a thumb lol. Thanks bro!
Lmao no vacuum tools but I got a thumb made my day lol
@@deejay3207 🤣🤣
My cousin Earl don’t gots a thumb tho! He gots two pinky’s!
It doesn't really matter how old the video is. A 2009 Escape is always going to be a 2009 Escape and will always have the same common problems.
I don't understand why ford insist to complicate things, why not just use a regular fuel cap?
So yah with your help I had to do this on my 2014 Ford Raptor 6.2 , thank you so much! Everything is perfect now 👍
Thank you ! My wife has a 2012 Escape... the P0456 popped up today. 2010 Fusion Felt vacuum, without electrical connection and swapped out part. No Vacuum, Code 1450 cleared but still have P0456 after driving 100 miles. Thanks for the video.
This worked just as explained. I own a 2014 F150. I even did the vac test & it failed. I thank u very much
I just got this code yesterday. I cleaned the no cap filler neck first, but if it comes back I'll now know what I need to do. thank you.
Thanks a ton for this video!!! It saved me a ton of money. +sam foster They are starting with the fusions but I think this will expand.
My 2015 mustang had to get the same part replaced with only 30k miles.
Thanks for the video and information
Glad i seen your Pose Jose. My 2015 GT just yesterday gave the P1450 code and i was wondering if it affect us as well. I also am at like 34k miles. kinda of annoying for some to go bad that early in the cars life,
My 2015 Edge with 42,500 miles has a P0456 code. Now I know what's happening when I take it to the dealer Monday. Thanks for the info.

redtailhawkwatcher Oh wow!
Great tip on testing the vac with your thumb while it's disconnected. I'm going to try that before ordering a part for my 2010 Milan. Thanks!
Thank you very meuch. For showing how it's done. The shop I went to wanted to much for a person who lives on a social security ck. God bless you for your expertise on f150. That's what I drive. And was having a problem with.
I changed it because it was bad but the lights keed coming
I have a 2015 edge with 3.5 engine had a 1450 code evac canister so I changed it so far so good
Big thanks to your videos. Very good detail and trouble shooting details.

So dumb....
this is a great video, I have a 2012 v6 escape with the flutter sound without disconecting the black hose but I'll try this fix
Thank you so much!! Your video was so helpful at diagnosing my problem! Fixed it by replacing the purge valve .. Thanks
It is pretty simple, first remove the glove box completely as shown in this video here-
ruclips.net/video/kq1IjAtmruI/видео.html
then look to the left and you will see it and it just unbolts from there.
This Helped me out. Thanks a lot!
i have a 2010 mercury milan,, it is the same procedure as shown in this clip.
So would this leak cause my 2009 Escape to shake like it has no power when accelerating at low RPM?
My truck runs just fine no noises I cleaned out my fuel inlet with step and a clean micro fiber cloth today the code finally cleared off my dash screen I cleared the check engine symbol but I don't want that small leak to get worse.
Hi, love your site. I have a P0451 (evaporatore emission pressure sensor code) on my 2004 5.4 f150 lariat. I was hoping you might have some advise on wear I might start to check before I might have to take it to the dealership. any advise would be greatly appreasiated. thanks Jon.
I did this test and didn't have much suction before unplugging and after. I know I'm in the right spot. I drive a 2010 Ford Escape
Zach Frigo There should be zero suction.
+FordTechMakuloco I still get the codes po455 & po457 even though I have no suction. Should I change the part out anyways or could it be something else that is the problem. Thank you for your time. Hopefully I am making some since
I Have P2450/P2418 any ideas what it could be?
That's what I have, any luck?
Quick question.....2013 edge. Small and large evap leak.ran test .snap on solace..passed.light came back on after a few miles of driving.also I have erratic long starts first started.not while putting fuel in?? Has 200k ..thanks for any ideas .great videos
Wish I knew this a year ago, this is a $140 fix at the dealership.
Great video. Thanks!
Great video. Where would I find this part on my 2010 Lincoln Navigator? Thanks in advance!
5.4L would be rear top of intake or left hand side of intake they are a bit bigger I have a video on this valve for the f-150 check it out
Great help!! Thankssss
Great diagnostic video....
What does p1450 code mean and how to fix it
can you show exactly where in the engine the part is at. The close up view doesn't give a clue to where it is located.
Thoughts?
+sam foster 1450 is definitely the purge valve every time in my experience.
+FordTechMakuloco - thanks for the video. Great stuff. I had the 1450 code pop up (and had problems starting after a fill up). Replaced the purge valve and code never came back. Truck seems to run a little better now as well. Could it cause a low grade misfire when faulty?
can you give the location on 2014 fusion se 2.0 eco
David Staples Right in the front of the intake throttle body area I think I actually replace one in this video.
FordTechMakuloco Thanks! Right after I wrote that I went back out and saw it right in front of me. Hope that replacing it, along with cleaning the capless fuel filler will solve the problem.
Can P2418 be related to the failure of this purge valve? Or the canister instead? Or the wiring?
Can you do a video on how to replace the evap vent valve . I think this one is at the back of the 2005 mustang if I’m correct
Good information but where is it? Your video is too close up on the part to give us the location of the valve on the engine. Is it obvious?
exactly.. I'm still trying to locate it.. did u figure it out?
You are the man good efin work you saved me on this one got r dine
Done
Awesome vid man, witch one will fit my 2012 f150?
great video, my understanding is the code will reset itself without a code tool once fixed?
Over time yes or disconnect battery for a few minutes.
Awesome! Thanks🙏
2014 Ford Taurus p2196 and p2198 codes, would appreciate your advice on where to start!
Will the engine light still be on after the valve is changed out? Or should it be off? I reset the light after I changed my valve. 2013 ford flex.
My check engine light was on for almost a year. I decided to put E 85 in my car 2 days later the light went out. 🤷♂️ I'm calling it fixed lol
So if the purge and vent valves have been ruled out/replaced , would taping up the capless fuel fill receptacle on these to achieve a seal isolate out the fuel filler neck o ring as the culprit to a small evap p0456,( as long as it passes the drive cycle check)?
Nice video,...Do you have something about p0446? Ford F250 2010 5.4l
Why would this error pop up in heavy rains? Moisture/Water shorting out the terminals in the connectors by chance? When cleared it doesn't come back.
Thanks!
+Anthony Crespo Yes 456 and 457 are common on those and fiesta cars
Where is the purge valve located on 2013 Ford Escape?
Wendy Lund I’ve been trying to find this out my damn self.
I was wondering if you knew the location of the canister purge valve on a 2015 mustang ecoboost. Thanks
I put 5 - 10 of those management valves a week. They're pretty bad about setting p2195 and p2197 o2 sensors stuck lean too.
sh4d0wzf4ll Yup I got a video whole video on that too.
I've been doing a crap load of 2011-2014 F150 sunroof tracks too. Having those problems as well?
sh4d0wzf4ll No haven't done a one yet actually.
I am going through this on my 2011 fusion 2.5l. my question is can I replace the current capless system with a regular gas cap system from another ford? just from the hose clamp on the filler neck up?
+redjeepcrusher If you can fin one that fits sure.
I tried this test on my wife's 2009 Mercury Mariner. Her's didn't flutter when I unplugged the hose, but I had suction with the connector both connected and disconnected. Does this mean the part is bad or good?
bad
Thank you!
Israel Valdes hey I'm having the same issue with 09 focus. I can't find anything that shows the location. what did u do to fix ur car??
Hi, I have a 2013 Ford Taurus and need to replace the canister purge valve. Do you know where it may be? I can't find it. Thank you!!
hello how are you? thank you for sharing your video. do you have to automatically replace the canister or can you just clean it and replace it? I'm getting this error message on my 2013 Ford explorer
i just changed that purge valve and did that finger test i didnt hear no flutter sound
What about P0442? I'm getting this in my 2012 F150 for the second time within a year. The dealership charged me $800 to fix it the first time.
Curious if you ever found out the cause of that code? What did they fix at shop? I’m thinking it’s my fuel inlet valve or possibly electrical. Thank you
Hi sir can this be applied to a mitsubishi galant 02 they are notorious for P0456 replaced gas cap several times and got oem model went away and came back after 2 months got p0401 code replaced egr valve and reset codes and went away no codes but 2 weeks later engine light P0456 code back on...can i do this procedure too most likely might be it any suggestions thank you
Do you have to recalibrate the car after you replace the part?
FordTechMakuloco
used to....bought a second car, and for most of the past year, have not been topping off due to the fact I may not get back in it for weeks at a time....can NOT filling the tank to max capacity cause this?
Frederick Boyd No it will not
