Love classic vintage watches like this, which is one of the reasons I am considering a vintage King Seiko!

It amazes me just how highly thought of Air Kings are now. Back in the '80/90s they were not rated at all as they are not chronometers. Even the AD I went to pointed this out and suggested spending a bit more for an OP (after a very short wait).
    How things change...

I agree, cool watch, bought with calmness and forethought, not emotion - well done and wear it in good health!

There was definitely a bit of emotion when buying this watch, but I'll go more in depth in the review.

This is actually the way they used to come packaged years ago, then they went to the hard shell Green boxes , around the early 90's, Nice watch but, really would not give more than about $3500.00 for a vintage watch, because it's only stainless steel, that is really about all it would sell for.

Just bought one of these on eBay for $3150 US in great condition. Little to no bracelet wear. I probably won’t find too many more like that. Silver/grey dial! I think these vintage watches are great and worth the money!

Congrats on the purchase! It's definitely hard to find vintage Rolexes in good condition.

perhaps there wasn't a necessity for a Certificate of Authenticity before idiots started treating them like they were Beanie Babies - I have this watch, purchased new, and know it is a real Rolex because a bought it to use as a watch, not a collector piece or investment vehicle (which you will discover they are not) simply a nice, well made, good looking watch.

    • @AChannelAboutWatches

I like having the certificate of authenticity (or a filled warranty card) because you get to see where and when the watch was purchased. Gives a bit more insight to the backstory of the watch.

provenance is only meaningful for watches that were owned by notable people and/or worn at historical events - Rolex produced over one million watches in 2021, there is truly nothing rare about this mass-market product… nothing! Start collecting Apple stock, you can even get a certificate

    • @AChannelAboutWatches

@@retired_mex "meaningful" is subjective- I'm guessing your definition is attached to monetary value. I find it interesting, and meaningful, to see where a watch started and where it ended up. I like seeing old instructions and advertisements from vintage items because it represents a different time in history.
