We've spotted a lot of monkfish in our travels around the world, but most of the time they are sedentary on the bottom of the seafloor - not this time around. It's not one of the deep ocean's most attractive creatures, but they certainly are fascinating - they have huge stomachs and can swallow prey as big as themselves.
Sometimes it seems to me that the bottom of the ocean is the place where evolution decided to go totally "avant-garde"
I like how the monkfish just kind of scoots through the water
It looks like a frog that decided to revert to a tadpole but got stuck as half way back.
I loved how it put its landing gear down before settling back on the sea floor. Great video, thanks for sharing.

So they are a kind of angler? That makes sense. I work in a restaurant where we sometimes feature monk fish, and I googled it and immediately regretted it. XD So scary.
Indeed but have your best guy make one for you, if you eat fish, they are amazing in and out of the ocean.
Looks like a cross between an angler fish and a blob fish. To me anyway.

1:04 "poor man's lobster?" Good heavens, just how poor to call that a lobster...
Apparently it tastes good, but it's not considered as luxurious as a lobster because it's ugly.
Fun fact, lobsters and oysters were considered a working class food in the past.
Modern marketing has made lobster out to be better than it actually is

@@Leto_0 It probably depends on where the lobster came from. The lobsters you get from New England taste better than the ones from the Caribbean.

I have eaten monkfish. It was horrible. Also horrible to prepare, there was some kind of membrane on the fillet. 0/10 would not eat again.
And...their liver is used to make onkimo sushi...delicious...!!!

Oh boy. Live - let - Live. I would never hurt one. But that is one bad fish. Every in of the lacy looking part on the front is mouth-opening. And every bit of the mouth-opening has SHARP teeth! When the mouth opens, if it gets one of your appendages it CLAMPS DOWN!!! FAST!!!! Have to use a tool of some sort to open its mouth so you can get your appendage out. There will be blood. Yours.

Jesus Christ is God incarnate who came to earth to be born and live a perfect life, a sinless life. I cannot add anything to what He has done (not even baptism). I cannot do enough good to take even a year off of my death sentence in hell. The sentence is a never ending one, because I have sinned against an eternal God. But Jesus took my punishment, He saved me, and offers that same salvation to you. I am praying for you.
