The original you just linked to is played very different, (and in my opinion, much better) if you can't seem to hear that, you are the one that "doesn't know music". I do agree that he put depth in the faster parts, but to me they still sound like he has to catch a bus or something. Performance wise, impressive, beautiful, no.

The faster pace of Langlang is because he wanted to make a swirling effect, like if you were sitting in a carrousel.

No piece is the same in different hands, because the player always puts something of him/herself in. Except maybe for when someone tries to play exactly like the composer intended, for a recital or whatever. This is Lang lang, the original is Yann Tiersen. I happen to prefer Tiersen, and it seems you prefer Lang langs version of Tiersens piece. That's all good. 😊🤝

I thought this was stunning, brings a different dimension to the piece. Refreshing especially loved the second half. I hate it when people play the same old pieces as everyone else. Bring something different to the piece. Great

its really not that easy, been playing piano for twelve years now and its grade 7. pretty difficult sections in this piece. i recently learned this and its been quite a challenge.
