This superb pianist plays with his heart and soul, please do not make absurd remarks about his face, just listen to it and close your eyes and open your ears.
Thank You!! YES he plays from his soul I’ve seen him live from the onset when he first arrived from China…….I was then, and now yet mesmerized! He’s a rare musician of the soul!
This piece is something that I remember hearing this as a child and the way he plays it with so much emotion just reels me into my memories and drags me back out like its lulling me into sleep - drowning in such rich sounds but then it unexpectedly stops like it was a distant thought that you hardly remember.
I was randomly listening to melancholic classical music on spotify while reading A Tale of Two Cities and this played at the very end of the book. You know, the great sacrifice part. This masterpiece magnified my grief on that character! It was the perfect accompaniment to end the book.
I'm not a musician but always loved Piano and Harpsichord music since my childhood, I always loved this piece and since a few years ago this was the final music on my grandmothers funeral, this is burned into my brain.
What a stunning performace of such a simple, Level IV piano student melody. Lang Lang simply makes magic with this beautiful, simple work. His touch is astounding. Lang Lang and Evgeny Kissin are my two favs right now. I just love Träumerei. I learned it as a kid and 70 years later it still knocks me out.
I've listened to other interpretations, no one else does it. I think he adds a new light to the repetition of the theme. Really valuable. He made me think about the importance of highlighting the inner voices.
It is exactly those funny faces and unique interpretations of classical pieces that have made him famous and popular. He can't be bothered if you don't like it, what matters to him are those who like it and are willing to spend the big bucks buying the concert tickets. He seems to be doing quite well as a professional pianist.
The funny faces didn't make him popular. His intricate and honest emotional interpretations of classical and baroque pieces is what made him popular. Arguably, his recorded music is just as critically important for modern interpretations of 19th century music
Simple? :D If you ever saw the Sheet music of that piece you wouldnt say that xD Especially the phrasing and fingering is pretty hard for normal people lol
It is great music, but we like Horowitz playing because he played it in his home country after he left Russia 60 years. It made many people in tears. How much memories in 60 years!!!
Mike Dunphy Hahha, classical live forever! Now my son plays this Traumerei every day as the last song for his playing piano. He will become a great musician soon.
He is a beautiful player. I think he tries to feel it a bit more intensely so that it has greater degree of translation into the playing. I do that as a singer.
i agree, im a pianist myself and never enjoyed people who make excessive gestures or faces while playing. Mitsuko Uchida is almost impossible to WATCH, but cant deny the playing of her and Lang Lang is superb. Mr Lang is a wonderful pianist, his mannerisms aside
Fortunately Schumann has writen it in a tempo that this master does not fall asleep ! Listen also to Vladimir Horowitz`s interpratation (1986) Maybe you hear the difference too !? :)
Besides Lang Lang's mannerisms, I still think he is a great performer and a beautiful artist. However, his demeanor (including the shiny jacket) is taking away the depth, sincerity, and unassuming qualities of this piece. I might still have to relearn how to watch Lang Lang but a humble and unassuming pianist works like charm when playing such special piece.
I don't think so. I actually like the change of pace. It makes the pianist seem more sociable, rather than a secluded hermit like the rest of them. (no offense intended)
Why in the world would anyone dislike this and offend such a wonderful master pianist.
Because of his very very boring life, maybe
Maybe his face
This superb pianist plays with his heart and soul, please do not make absurd remarks about his face, just listen to it and close your eyes and open your ears.
His face looks better than that of many ppl who make those remarks, they can't help opening their eyes. LOL
You mean, like commenting that he’s approaching an orgasm?
@@zpdrmn I'm not find nothing wrong in his face ! He transmit peace !!
@@rudyredcat425 lmao
Que gente tan estupida!!! Fuera!!!
Never have I not cried to this piece. Always of feeling of “I’m home.”❤️
This man is blissed out playing such a languid, non-technical piece. He's 100 percent emotion.
It is the "simple pieces" that are the most bare.....and mistakes are easily visible. Very beautiful performance.
My piano teacher taught me this when I was 7. Tears are running down my face. Thank you LL.
And cue my tears. So moving, thankyou Lang Lang and Herr Schumann.
Thank You!! YES he plays from his soul I’ve seen him live from the onset when he first arrived from China…….I was then, and now yet mesmerized! He’s a rare musician of the soul!
Thanks for this free flowing rendition packed full of feelings. Each chord washes the soul free of pain and need. What a beautiful gift.
Never heard it in such a beautiful play, the timing is perfect, thanks Lang Lang❤️
because u never heard horowitz 😂😂😂
This piece is something that I remember hearing this as a child and the way he plays it with so much emotion just reels me into my memories and drags me back out like its lulling me into sleep - drowning in such rich sounds but then it unexpectedly stops like it was a distant thought that you hardly remember.
Priyastar10 thats exactly what schumann intended to do and what Lang Lang has done. “Kinderszenen” translates to “scenes from childhood”.

The best performance so far. Outstanding.
Used to not be a Lang Lang fan, but this video changed my mind.
He lives the music, and I love to watch him doing it.
Lang Lang's sense of timing is perfect.
No

This work is one of the best of all piano solo works. Beautiful. Dreaming...
One of the best interpretations of this piece, full of feeling and intonation. Great to emulate as one learns such a beautiful piece on the piano!
Intonation? I didn't know pianists had to worry about tuning
+James S not at all.
Intonation?
I agree, Lang Lang is an expressive player.
And I think you mean emotion?
The whole sound field reveal Schumann's childhood memory
As a musician I completely understand the emotion he shows in his facial expressions. I feel it, too.
that are the moments the perfect moments when playing, no time, nothing else, just you in with and also being the music
I'm not a musician but always loved Piano and Harpsichord music since my childhood, I always loved this piece and since a few years ago this was the final music on my grandmothers funeral, this is burned into my brain.
It helps with the dynamics a lot
Lang Lang is super expressive with every single piece 😅 I think it has nothing to do with playing this one
The best. Absolutely the best performance of this magnificent piece.
I love how he expresses the music through movement. He is playing the song with his hands but feeling it in his soul. So beautiful to watch
The left hand counter melody is sublime
All music becomes better if played in such a sensitive way. Lang Lang is not afraid of pauses. So many rush this piece.
What a stunning performace of such a simple, Level IV piano student melody. Lang Lang simply makes magic with this beautiful, simple work. His touch is astounding.
Lang Lang and Evgeny Kissin are my two favs right now.
I just love Träumerei. I learned it as a kid and 70 years later it still knocks me out.
it is grade 3 (III)
One of my favorite pieces of music ever. You play beautiful. Thank you .
I like how he ended it, the way he interpreted the last few lines was magnificent
This interpretation really hits home for me
Beautiful! It is the best interpretation I've heard. Hi plays wonderful.
Loved this music from the Korean Series ' Do you like Brahms'.
That was such a good series!
Sounds like my childhood memories. Happy, carefree, bittersweet.
My favorite version of this piece
It's amazing how extravagant he can make an easy piece like this
Might be because they are...
This piece is not easy. So much subtlety.
This piece does not deserve to be played "extravagant". It needs exact rhythm, exact fingering and good expression without schmaltz.
Talented,Virtuoso #Pianist #LangLang performance was absolutely Mesmerizing&captivating..Just BEAUTIFUL.. #Pianist #LangLangPiano 🎹🎼🎵🎶🎶
Amazing, amazing , amazing ❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
0:47 he voiced out the descending counter melody, beautiful!
I've listened to other interpretations, no one else does it. I think he adds a new light to the repetition of the theme. Really valuable. He made me think about the importance of highlighting the inner voices.
so peaceful and nostalgic

This is top Shuman. Congrats! I absolutely love it
you can tell by his emotion that he is really into the music and it looks really easy for him.
Beautiful...like a dream..!!
Even a simple pieces Lang Lang never disappoint us. Super pianist!
Simple? :D If you ever saw the Sheet music of that piece you wouldnt say that xD Especially the phrasing and fingering is pretty hard for normal people lol
sure i know this piece very much , thanks☺️
So moving!
His phrasing!
This is indeed the best version.
If you understand this comment, congratulations, after 518 chapters we got his name, thank you SIU
It is great music, but we like Horowitz playing because he played it in his home country after he left Russia 60 years. It made many people in tears. How much memories in 60 years!!!
I have a friend with the sane name as you omg
Yeah, that Horowitz video of him playing this in Moscow is pretty incredible.
Mike Dunphy Hahha, classical live forever! Now my son plays this Traumerei every day as the last song for his playing piano. He will become a great musician soon.
Nowhere as good as the Horowitz version ins Moscow, but this one is better than previous versions done by Lang Lang
Beautiful song und performance...I Love it
Brilliantly beautiful. Thank you so much
Yes, this is the way to play this beautiful piece. It’s the way I once played it too. I love this!
This is genius! He feels it. THIS, buddys. THIS is called good music, not some new pop crap..
Magnificent always... Lang Lang. Thank you.
Gorgeous Lang Lang! So wonderful ❤❤❤❤❤
it does not get any better than this
No one played this like Horowitz. He just owned this masterpiece.
His version is completely different than the other. Love his interpretation. He plays it so softly:) By far the best I´ve heard
Best interpretation.. just amazing and perfect to my liking if this beautiful piece ❤️ slow and soft👍🏼🙏🏼
So touching! I am almost tearing.
I think the speed is perfect.
You can feel every ounce of emotion.
Very nice and very beautiful interpretation. He plays with paws like a cat. Wonderfull!
I like your comment “He plays with paws like a cat” hahaha
There seems to be a competion who can play the slowest version of Träumerei.
Schumann said that up to 100 bpm were possible.
I’m learning this piece and I’m gonna cry if my teacher tells me to go any slower
I feel your pain
edit: go watch horowitz because lang lang's interpretation in my opinion is a little over the top
Very moving interprétation 😮😮😮😮😮
Thank you,Lang Lang, you are a great poet and that piece needs a sensibility like yours.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Soooo.... I guess people don't understand that you can dance around while playing the piano, then? Because this man is dancing beautifully as he plays
La musique merveilleuse... merci...
Unvergleichlich schön und gefühlvoll
That chord at 2:23 kills me
and 2.29
He must have really big hands I can't reach that cord at all
Yes, it needs both hands to be flexible, and a correct fingering.
I got shivers
Superbe!!!
Thank's!
Thank you so much for this moment!
❤
No needs to comment just "like" it ; words are usless here .
Robert Schumann--- Der Sohn meiner Stadt-- danke lang lang
He is a beautiful player. I think he tries to feel it a bit more intensely so that it has greater degree of translation into the playing. I do that as a singer.
What can I say.....heavenly!
Emocion total
i agree, im a pianist myself and never enjoyed people who make excessive gestures or faces while playing. Mitsuko Uchida is almost impossible to WATCH, but cant deny the playing of her and Lang Lang is superb. Mr Lang is a wonderful pianist, his mannerisms aside
Really great song played!! made a great presentation piece. YES keep your play. I really enjoyed the pianist.

Darren Matias haha he wears Versace
Darren Matias it's is flamboyant style and behavior which makes him the pop star of the classical world I think I suits him and defines him
This is nothing... watch yuja wang lol
I don't think so. I actually like the change of pace.
It makes the pianist seem more sociable, rather than a secluded hermit like the rest of them. (no offense intended)
the jacket, May perpetual light shine upon her, o Lord 😂

Lang Lang loves Shumann. Now I understood why.
Just two words:Lang Lang!
Oh. It's great !
I hope I hear this song everwhere.
yeah u can hear it everytime on youtube :v
Just beautiful 🙂
thankyou! Thankyou ! Thankyou!!!!!!!!!!!!!💜💜
Unique play with cool touch :D
how would you feel if you were playing this with your eyes closed, then all of a sudden....BOOM wrong key!!!! I'd cryyyy
My mate used to say just put a paper bag over his face and enjoy the music lol. I do genuinely like his unique style :p
Quelle delicatesse
I usually don't like Lang Lang, but I quite enjoyed this performance.
he is so emotive
