My 5th grade teacher would just randomly sing “You got it Toyota”. I never knew where it came from, but it’s been ingrained into my memory forever, I even sing it myself now sometimes 😂
However dull this car was, I had just dumped my Chevy Vega and this Toyota was a revelation in quality. All the Vega problems were absent here; it just ran. And, in those days, you could easily maintain it yourself and know no one was setting you up for the next repair or over-charging you. Suffice it to say, I never went back to Chevy. I ended up buying 6 Toyotas in my career.
When we were kids we'd recite this jingle to a sibling or another acquaintance as a sort of a payback for a mishap. "You asked for it - you got it - Toyota!"
I sat In a Corolla from 1972 Couldn't believe how tiny ot was compared to the other big boy American Land yachts of the day mt father remembers these cars.
Had a 1985 corolla didn't have 2nd gear always had to run out first and grab 3rd. I dont recall how many time I almost die in that car but it didn't have a scratch on it.
That is the exact color and interior of the first car my parents bought when I was very young! The sad thing is WAY BACK THEN IT GOT 36mpg!!! No wonder it took an act of congress to get the automotive companies to raise the mpg of all vehicles....SAD.
you can buy a 2023 new Ram Single Cab Classic bare bone base model with a 6 cylinder for 28K after all the discounts and rebates! 39 Grand is crazy expensive!!!
🎉🎉Heeeyyyy,,, you asked for it, you got it Toyota!!!!! Congratulations 🎉👏 you are my favorite grill master God bless you and your family much respect 🙏❤️
One of the greatest ad campaigns of the 70s. Put Toyota on the map.

Libraries are no longer quiet places. When people talk loud nobody shuts them up anymore.
LOL! YES!, 9 out of 10 are Still On The Road in 2018!!! Lol! Old Skool 4Eva! 😂😂❤️❤️
My father would reference this commercial a lot when I was a child but he said "you want it" close enough!
I had to look this up because growing up my dad would always sing “You got it, Toyota” and I never knew where it was from 😂
I sing this to my husband very often.

Yes, these Toyotas were very reliable and very sweet-looking, but the Vega was also a very cool car despite its flaws.
We had a 1977 4 door. Excellent excellent car and great in the snow. It was rwd. I loved riding in that car with my parents.
The first Toyota ever sat in was one like this-I was 12. I thought it was so crazy and cool looking. I'd never seen a Japanese car up close before .
The way the librarian screamed when the car appeared cracked me up.

I had one. I miss that car.

Kiss Brought Me Here, "You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best".
bro I've been saying this for years and never knew where it came from hahahaha
Toyota has always been a quality car my 98 Sienna Mini Van has 395,000 miles I'm the 3rd Owner👍👀😎
They should have never changed this slogan. It'd still be running strong like the Corolla.
Under 3,000 for a brand new car? Sheesh
@MidNight Rules You really think a Mitsubishi Mirage even comes close to Toyota's reputation for quality and reliability?
@MidNight Rules And yet the minimum wage has what, doubled? While inflation makes everything 6x more expensive? Is that correct?
A new Toyota cost around 32,000 in 2021. That’s quite a difference even with inflation. A 5 year loan, depending upon credit can run you 400 a month.

9 out of 10 are still on the road. If you got the tenth car. Too bad. You asked for it, you got it!
I think it's more like 1 out of 10 is still on the road, probably less......you can't find these things anymore

2789.00 for a car. I just paid 39,000 for a Rav 4

I bought a brand new 1976 Corolla for $3,250 (Canada). It was a great little car until it was t-boned by Trans Am running a stop sign.
This is the best example of inflation.
Cool
Was that Clancy Brown?
Sure looks like him.
You could get a New car for 3k when my uncle was born lol
