Yeah I met her in around 1957 or 1957. Sweet lady and never wore make-up even though she loved talking about it. Ahead of her time I think since she mentioned it's bad for her skin and will make her age faster.

When I was a kid, the freakshow had the woman that transformed into a gorilla. When she changed, she would breakout of the cage and charge the audience. It was done with mirrors too.
Terrified alot of people. They went screaming out of the tent. Was hilarious.

Haha. We had one like that too. I ended up marrying her.
When I was a teenager, my brother in law helped out at the small carnival that rolled into town. He snagged a whole roll of tickets and invited us kids and our friends. The train ride through the haunted tunnel was a scream. A messed up gorilla would jump out at us. We took the train ride through that tunnel so many times, the gorilla must have gotten pretty fed up with us, because at last, it started flipping us off instead of tormenting us.
I was the headless woman in the early 1980s...... the show was billed as..."Headless Helga".... we travelled all around the USA doing state and local fairs..... the old-time carnival sideshows were on the way out at that time ... so I was in one of the very last headless woman shows in the USA .... i lived in "gib town" Florida during the winter off-season ... a town for carneys ........ the are 2 ways to do this trick... with mirrors like you see in this video... or with "black art" like what the Headless Hega Show was done with.... when you got to be in the chair for 12 hours or more at a time... the black art is much more comfortable to do for those very long hours

I saw one when I was a teenager. Maybe 1992 or 93 at the Minnesota state fair. Back before they removed the "freak shows".
The outside of the tent had a fake newspaper article about a super model who was decapitated in a car accident.
I never knew how they did it until now (I mean..I figured it was mirrors)

When I was very young I went to a "Fun Fair". There was a room you could go into, about 6 people at a time. In the room there was a man strapped into a chair and we watched him turn into a werewolf. It looked so REAL. Goodtimes.

In the late 1970s/early 1980s, I saw a 'reverse' version of this at a fair in India-a decapitated head placed on a table, and the head would talk to the viewers and reply to them.
It took my mother two minutes to figure out where exactly the mirrors that hid the guy who was the decapitated head, were placed.
I thought this might be a side effect of Ozempic at first.
Its way worse try your stomach stops working so you have too puke up everything

I think they did it to calm the audience. If you read the comments some peeps state they saw the show or similar attraction in a fair. While some would understand it is fake, others may not thus freaking out.

I remember as a kid they had a headless woman at the Haunted Mansion of Long Branch, NJ. I was way too young and scared to go near that place which burned down in 1987. In fact, at that time, I never wanted to go to Long Branch Boardwalk and begged my parents to take me to Asbury Park instead.
I was born and raised in Long Branch, and I was 13 when the Haunted Mansion burned down. Nearly ten years later I ended up working for a new theater in Seaview Square Mall, started by one of the former Haunted Mansion employees.
First time I've seen Art Baker/You Asked for it exposing an illusion/magic trick on the show. Never did that before.

I was 8 years old in 1963 and was staying with my grandparents in New York for the summer. They took me to Coney Island and one of the attractions was like this woman. She sat in a similar chair on the stage and her head was this big light bulb. I kept trying to see behind her chair to see if her head was there. Either way, I was astonished but a little skeptical. I'm sure in this case that her head is behind a triangular mirror surrounded by the black backdrop. It's really all a trick. No side show has the medical ability to keep a person alive like that. That wouldn't seem moral.
Now days... they have real horror in hospitals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was little, we had a “Freak Show” (sorry if I offended anyone). Back in the 60’s there wasn’t any PC or being woke. The headless woman almost traumatized me! There were other things that weren’t fake which gave me nightmares.

I saw this about 1960 in Santa Monica at what was a low end amusement park area at the time that included a show with a guy who milked rattlesnakes. Later it became Pacific Ocean Park.
I had a feeling mirrors were involved. Still, if you don't know that none of that apparatus makes sense it's a convincing trick. I agree with the commenters below that it would be rather creepy to see in person, especially as a kid! This channel never ceases to amaze.

I don't know if it was the same one, but a carnival came to my town in Louisiana with this act in the early 1970s. For some reason I didn't buy a ticket and see it, but some of my friends did. They pretty well saw through the illusion, but said it was fun just the same.
