Im of chinese cuban descent, mi abuelo was born in santiago, his parents are from toishan Anyway, im proud of my roots and am always fascinated to learn more about the history
This is beautiful!! I wish I knew more about my great-grandmother, who was Chinese....the only thing my late father remembers her name is Christina, high cheek bones, and very mean. Her father came to Cuba from China, I imagine seeking work in the late 1800's. Life is such a beautiful mosaic of lives to result in me. Thanks be to God!!
casperd2100 - I think it’a quite beautiful, I don’t think of it as “weird” however, I get your point. Also, “oriental” is a rug and perhaps some other items but not an ethic group or people. To refer to the Chinese, it would be appropriate to refer to them as “Chinese” or “Asian” but never “oriental”. 💞
Chinese descendant here! My sister got all the chinese DNA! 🙂. I got more from my spanish descendants. I’m so happy that still Chinese culture is not forgotten in Cuba. I’ll come back one day to Cuba to find out about my real Chinese names!! ❤️
He's a 6th generation immigrant, it's all he knows, the fuck. You think everyone pops out of the womb, no matter where on earth they're born, speaking the language of their ancestors?
Nothing strange at all...Chinese are all over the world! The world is interconnected as most countries' population are of different races/ethnicities & some people have mixed heritage & aren't even aware of it! Google this chap: Arthur Chung of Guyana.
The United States, even from colonial days, has always had people of different races and cultures--but, obviously, they all haven't had freedom or certain privileges.
There are MANY MORE than 300 Cubans with Chinese ancestry! 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ Lots of Chinese ancestry exists among the larger Cuban community, and particularly within the Afro-Cuban community. There is a lot of erasure of the African women who married and had children with Chinese indentured laborers.

Great - but you should do one on Jamaica too! Lots of Chinese blood in Jamaica too.
low-key Chinese people are the most culturally diverse they're everywhere ive been to many countries and seen my brothers and sisters
Possibly more culturally dispersed than diverse, but the Chinese diaspora is undoubtedly extensive and important.

古巴人有尊嚴,雖然窮不向美國屈服。
向美国屈服也富裕不了,拉美有几个比古巴强的
In Cuba, Chinese people are or were called "los narras"--but I'm not sure if this is mere slang, or if it's offensive.
It's offensive if you say it to somebody who isn't your friend, and I mean a very close friend.
小孩子多可爱啊。
