I am blasian - Liberian Father and Chinese-Malaysian Mother. It is fascinating how Chinese have reached all over the world and spread their culture, history and DNA.

I remember walking through Barrio Chino when I was traveling in Havana, Cuba without knowing that it existed. I'm Japanese so I recognized the Chinese writing in the neighborhood and I was like, "Damn, there's literally Chinese people in every corner of the world!" lol

some immigrated to NYC. our Chino-Latino restaurants date back to late 60s. and they speak Spanish with a Caribbean accent. good ppl. Chinese folks that grew up in Latin America are less xenophobic and more engaging. they're used to it I guess.

Fact the earliest "Chinese" immigrants in Cuba were actually Chinese/Filipinos mestizo de sangleys that boarded the Manila Acapulco Galleons to Mexico and a few ended up in Havana during colonial times, facts.

“10’s of thousands of Chinese were shipped to Cuba to work in the fields”.....WHO SENT THEM?... The Chinese first arrived in Cuba in significant numbers in the late 1850s to toil in Cuba’s sugarcane fields. At that time, Cuba was arguably the largest producer of sugar in the world. Due to the diminishing African slave trade after England’s abolition of slavery in 1833 and the decline of slavery in the United States, a labor shortage in Cuba led plantation owners to search for workers elsewhere. China emerged as the labor source following deep social upheaval after the First and Second Opium Wars. Changes in the farming system, a surge in population growth, political discontentment, natural disasters, banditry, and ethnic strife-especially in southern China-led many farmers and peasants to leave China and look for work overseas. While some willingly left China for contract work in Cuba, others were coerced into semi-indentured servitude.
Sounds familiar doesn’t it! Only now, it’s easier to lock up a population of people (Uighur), teach them to sew (Even professionals), and put this clothing into the supply chain to make money from their
incarcerations! Good thing Chinese don’t have a history of abusing people. It must only be the West that did such terrible things to people!

Cuba ain’t perfect, but honestly, blacks, whites and everyone else are treated equally. (As in, they’re all screwed equally by the cancerous Communist cuban government) At my school back in Cuba we were all mixed but there was this one dark black girl in one of my clases (class A and class B) she was in class B, (same classroom, divided into two with a thin wall) and no one ever messed with her. We were all nice to one another and both class A and B would play together during recess and it was all cool. I was only harassed for being a Christian. I recall my mom having to go to school many times to speak to the director, because some teachers (communist old farts) would single me out and treat me like crap for being a Christian, but when it came to color, all of us were mostly ethnic. I’m pale but when I’m in the sun, I’m dark, cuz I’m Arabic and jewish -also German and Spanish, and no one ever said Jack about my skin for being dark. If ya don’t believe me, go to my Instagram @ Lianet_Pupo_Leyva97 and see for yourself, my Cuban childhood pics.
I’ve met more racist Cubans here than I did over there. Now, I realize I can’t speak for the black Cuban experience, but from what I generally saw, it wasn’t anywhere near like it is here. Dad used to visit the U.S and bring me dolls; he once brought me a black baby doll with kinky hair, her little brush, the bottle and some diapers, and I never asked why she didn’t look like me. It was normal. Many classmates all over the school and teachers and neighbors were black and it was normal. A huge chunk of the Cuban populous is black. The only racists are the old farts and old hags with that old school mentality. But yeah. *All that being said, economically speaking, CUBA SUCKS!* Just a few days ago, (this is on 2020, I am re-writing my post) the Cuban government decided that it’s gonna feed people guinea pigs.. rodents.. Cubans are so poor right now more than ever; the last thing on their minds is race. We don’t have that imaginary thing that gringos call “white privilege” there; everyone is hungry and poor and having blue eyes doesn’t get you JACK. I love my people but I HATE the Cuban government. Y’all have no idea how bad it is there right now in 2020. It’s MISERY!

So you went on a color based rant for what reason again? Your trying to prove everyone was equal but yet there was only one black Cuban in your school. Your profile says German and your as white as they come. Stop living in a fantasy world. You got out of Cuba and that's great but I'm pretty sure that one black girl didn't have the privilege to leave like you did whitey.

    • @ughwhatever6380

Are you sure about that? Many Cubans are racist af in Miami and ignorance still thrives in Cuba.

@@RedHorseman66 ah boohoo, make a judgment out of someone’s skin, now will ya?.. so stupid, I wrote this 2 years ago, I just realized that I said that she was the only black girl in the whole school, when in reality she was the only black girl in class B, I was in class A and we shared a classroom divided into two. We were all tan or dark and two or three were actually white. I’m Arabic and jewish, not just German, I tan dark. Not all white skinned folks can’t tan, I’m mostly middle eastern. You don’t know caca about me, so don’t go running your mouth 👊🏻🤣
