*Got Very Lucky my ass... Been watching your vids for two years now and anyone who follows you knows you are a true sportsman and skilled fisherman and most of all... more than a bit humble and always willing to learn teach and share... Great vid and congrats Elias...* gw
Thanks for kind words.
We, the NCKFA, were honored to have you there. Lots of our friends and fishing family were excited to have you there and look forward to having a shot at "EV" next year and trying to wrestle the Title away from you. As always we love your videos!
I really love this kind of vid you put out....even though, movie length...hearing your thoughts and strategy is very compelling to listen to...meaning i really enjoyed it. And the length i can live with. If you dont get the views, do it at least once a month....it's very informative, adds a different depth to your content as well. Which alot of youtubers dont do, hopefully it will take off :-) Congrates on the win. Tight lines 😎
personally i rather see this type of fishing over "catch a big fish video" i love the catch and cooks. but tournament fishing i find very interesting, one because when it comes down to business it shows how good of a fisherman one is and also the thought process that go behind it all. so yes my vote would be to see more tournament videos!
Really enjoyed this vid, keep the spirits high regardless of the break offs.
You fish and I can’t. So keep smiling mate!
I saw this in my notifications, and all I could think was "Oh Hell Yea"... and the video didn't disappoint either, they never do, GREAT work Brother, keep em coming, simply the best fishing videos on the net, hands down, PERIOD!
Congratulations on the win! It was a fun tournament that is very challenging. Thanks also for the goodies you added to our grab bags. It was an honor fishing the same tournament as you and all of the other outstanding participants. Looking forward to it next year.
I used to go down to Port Aransas and fish out of Deep Sea Head Quarters for King Mackeral or I would greatly enjoy wading out into the 2nd gut out on Padre Island and free float shrimp in the surf.....that was the extent of my ocean fishing living in Nebraska. I so....so enjoyed watching you fish this tournament sir....what a fun adventure and informative!! I am disabled now, and my ocean days are over. I will so miss them. I hope you keep beating the water until you are an old man and keep enjoying it.
Great stuff Elias and glad you won!...been a subscriber for 3 years or so. I've gotten more into fishing because of your videos and it's helped me through some tragic deaths in my family. I even took the plunge and bought a Hobie at Three Belles...keep these coming. You should have 1mm subscribers!
Excellent thank you. I enjoy hearing you talk through your decision process. All the details are so interesting.
I always love watching your videos... Congrats on your successful tournament! :)
Sorry for the snapped braid mishap, though.
All the best Man!
Really enjoyed fishing with you during and after the tournament. Great win by a great fisherman. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Eli, really enjoyed the tourney and....all your vidz ! lol
Much love 💚👌👍✌🤙
I love your vids. You are a stellar fisherman and do a great job with content/editing and I like that you talk gear, too. Thanks for keeping it kid friendly, too.
Good video Elias. I’m sure I echo the common sentiment here, that you are very knowledgeable and it’s interesting to hear you think out loud about your knowledge. Nice work on the tourney!
I like all your videos man but when you have a mission or challenge or something to get you fired up it's extra good, it's fun to see you really drop it into gear and play all the cards. Granted that literally means "watching you stress out is fun for me" but it does seem like you enjoy it too. Thanks as always.
Really enjoy your videos and commentary. Tight lines!
Love seeing the tournament fishing, keep em coming. Definitely not all tournaments all the time, but a few here or there would be very welcomed!
Congrats on the Offshore win! I've been waiting to see that flounder you caught.
Congrats on the tournament win!
Nice Spaniard. ha, it looks like you've been on the water all day. That really takes it outta ya. I think you did pretty good on that firrst day. The spanish was nice, Certainly Nice Reds. You got a Flounder. Day2. Trout in the boat. Day 2 is a winner... Get a good dinner, a long nights rest, and see ya tomorrow. ;;;hate to hear that about the J Braid. I have not given it a real test but bought a couple of spools. This was a great video. Really enjoy watching you because you are all about fishing.
One of my favorite videos I’ve ever seen. I would say I fish a lot, but haven’t ever been in a tourney, and I think we share some of the same characteristics in strategy, tackle and lure selection. Btw, I’ve been fishing with cortland braid and I’m on my first spool . It was suggested to me after I asked for a braid with some abrasion resistance. I have been sliced off by blues with the 15lb and on structure, but it’s been good. I would spoil braid on another reel and see If their are any more mystery break offs. Great video!! Tight lines and Like that live target lure. Btw just got my first tog ever last night on a bridge. Thanks !
Elias, you are a god among fisherman. You nailed it w the Fin line, waaay too expensive. I tried them all just about. Using alot of Sufix these days but just tried the Berkeley X9, really nice stuff. Used to like the western braid, very dependable but like the powerpro rough and noisy through the guides. Absolute hogs those reds, your a ringer.
Ive tried just about every braided line out there and I always go back to the regular power pro. It may not be the smoothest casting or smoothest thru the guides but it holds up better than anything I've tried. I fish a combination of brackish and saltwater 4 or 5 days a week for 9-10 months out of the year so I need a line that is gonna hold up and for me that is regular power pro.
Great vid, once again. I love it when you explain things. Keep it up!!
I've tried a lot of different types of braid over the years and I always go back to the regular power pro as I can honestly say it's only one that has never let me down. It may not be the smoothest casting braid out there or the cheapest but it is tough stuff and just seems outlast anything else and I use it for a wide range of applications from 5,10, 15, and 20# test for ultralight and light tackle all the way up to 120# for some trolling applications.
Gotta love the tournament day grind. Congrats on the win
Great video. I love fishing channels on RUclips and I think after awhile it starts to look too easy. This was a great video on strategy and the amount of time it takes to catch fish. Compete in more tournaments.
Elias, great video sir. I've also switched to daiwa j braid, the 8 series 30# for fluking, the 8 series 50# for plugging and the 8 series 8# for fresh water. The 30 and 50 pound hasn't given me too much trouble. I have fished rocky bottoms with snags but not structure and it seemed to hold up well against snags and such. The 8# I just put on my 2 fresh water reels and I've had multiple break offs while fighting fish through some vegetation. I've also lost a few heavier style fresh water lures on the cast. The bail didnt flip, there wasnt knots in the line, the eyes looked PERFECT but the lure went FLYING on the follow through of my cast. It didnt even make a snapping sound. I'm not sure if Daiwa had some issues with their manufacturing but I'm pretty upset with the result of this braid. I have 2 brand new spools or 300yd 30# for next season and I'm apprehensive. Best of luck with the new search for braided line. Looks like I'll be breaking the bank while testing out some new braid! Tight lines brother! Way to convert from the north east!
Awesome channel , awesome skills , very entertaining. 🎣
I like Sufix 832 with a heavy fluorocarbon leader, but I only fish freshwater so I'm not sure if it would work well for your situation. Maybe worth a test spool. I love your videos (especially when the big lake is throwing a fit). Keep up the good work.
Personally, this was one of your more insightful videos. The way you tackle/breakdown how you fished each day opened up more options for all us viewers.. sort of like identifying the problem, coming up with multiple courses and going at it with what works best for you.... true professional at your craft... congrats on the win.
Good change of pace there! I should have done a change of pace of my own with this storm pushing through. They called for extremely dangerous conditions....Ah, yeah ...OK....I should have gone fishing today. A little rain here and there and the wind is barely 😒 blowing. Today would have been a great day. Thank you for sharing. The cooler weather will start moving down soon. That will bring us a real change. Stay tuned! (Oh, by the way....thank you for sharing your JBraid experience) 👍
Congrats brotha! Gotta get on those kings!
Love the videos man. Keep it up! Killer Spanish you got there!
Awesome video man! Congrats as well!
Loved this video with the thrown in strategy. Game plan with execution, very well done plus showing the conditions that you were fishing under. That was a big mackerel and on a plug that size, go figure you may be on to something.
I don't believe it's all luck, sir. You are being a bit modest. Thanks for the content, you are one of the few guys I always stop and watch through to the end! Tight lines.
Great video. Definitely some tough fishing but it looked like you had fun at least.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Love the raw fishing.
Your channel is great!! Thank You!!
good stuff elias. congrats!
check you line roller....is it even turning? that sound is reminiscent of a stuck line roller
Way to my man! Killing it with those crazy skillz!
always enjoy your content
Good to see a different camera angle. I'd like to be able to see the full bend of the rod when ou're fighting a fish -- helps to visualize the fight.
Congrats on the win!
Good stuff bro. Very much enjoy hearing your thoughts on technique. No one realized the hours put into the 15 minutes of bites. Any more podcasts coming? Keep up the awesome videos. Always look forward to your stuff.
Goos stuff Elias. I miss not seeing you around Jbay
Awesome video, I like the recap at the end
good way to start the morning, thanks for sharing!
I highly recommend Bullbuster 4 strand braid over any 6-8 strand. I fish a lot and have tried many brands. I am tired of the line failures. Btw my smaller gear is all back to mono. The braid resilience is unacceptable. But the 4 strand is better. Thanks for the vid. Aloha!
I love the berkley x9 for smoothness and castability...but for the structure just dropping down the x5 is even better. 5 strands instead of 9 means the strands are a little beefier....my go to tog line
Yeah those larger spanish won't shy away from a bigger bait. My biggest spanish ever 33" came on a 6 or 7 inch drone spoon I was pulling for redfish and cobia.
Love your videos. So feel your commentary.
"It is a generic brown shitty shark."
Now that's fishing great stuff hopes that Lawrance perform I'm paying one off the tackle store tells me there good so seeing it was wondering how thay go thx great show
I liked this video. Better than random catch and cooks.
Congrats man. It's not luck when you are as good an angler as you are.
like these vids...then again I like your format too...so just keeping doing what your doing.
Great video . Like how you gave more insight
Power Pro and SeaGuar fluorocarbon leader has never let me down ! 🤙🏼🤘🏼
PP what I used to use. Going to go back to it most likely for the structure game.
Yeah power pro is hands down the best. It may not be the longest casting or smoothest thru the guides but it holds up better than any braid I've tried. I use several different types of mono and fluorocarbon for leader but power pro is the only braided line you'll find on any of my reels.
You're right, jbraid is not suitable for structure, more cast distance for sure because it have a very light coat of wax and wears alot quicker but the invisibraid by spiderwire have a good coat of wax for what you do and not to stiff. Just my experience. Btw love your vids
Elias, could you do a video on your cold weather gear?
i enjoyed this format
Have you tried Piscifun line? It's cheap and I like it better than PowerPro. I hooked up to what was either a big Spanish or a short fat King on a cheap topwater last time I was on the East coast, sadly pulled the hook. Saw plenty of smaller Spanish follow the same lure in too.
Off topic but, love your NYC Subway map on the wall! :)
Usually a bunch of gray trout out on the Wofes this time of year
I been using j braid or power pro. J braid hasnt really failed me man. Granted i dont fish wrecks or reefs much.
Another cool video always enjoy your content. Was wondering have you tried Lyn braid yet I don't fish as hard as you but hasn't disappointed me yet. Have a good weekend and stay safe Jimmy from Massachusetts.
I'm spooling Berkley X9 on my stuff now. Will report back on how I feel about it.
@@EliasVFishing if anyone will put it to the test it is definitely you lol. Have a good weekend and stay safe Jimmy from Massachusetts
Best videos! Pure action
Oof, that’s a similar noise my battle II made before croaking for good. Nonetheless, very well fished and I loved the video.
Also, I love how you got the nyc subway map framed.. once a New Yorker, always a New Yorker, hehe 🤘🏼 fish on.
I bought a Van Stall VR150 from J&H and it came with Daiwa J Braid- Lost my biggest striper on snag and drop bunker. I took it off and never used it again. Power Pro has never let me down!
Glad to see you fish a tournament...you should do more of them since you have the skills.
My favorite type of vids
Cant wait to fish some tourneys
could you talk about the clothing you wear … I live in ny and want to kayak in the fall ..thx
I recently bought a new rod and reel at a good shop and I thought I’d load it up withJ-Braid as an experiment, but the guy at the shop talked me out of it saying they had been hearing negative feedback from other customers.
i love the tournament fishing video please film the next one, too
Great video again
You have every right to be frustrated and stressed out, that shit sucks my dude. Would be cool to see you fish more tournaments, but it’s not near as much fun as it should be and that is obvious. I as a long time viewer (I’m talking from the begging I just changed my RUclips name) I can tell the change in tempo from the normal. You need this Eli. You need the full throttle put yourself to the test type challenge. Day in and day out you put in work, but this is different. You got it my dude. Stay after it, and stay dry. Keep it up brother.
Elias try spider wire stealth I hear alot of good about this braid. It's known to be durable great on structure.
I broke off two reds last week on Jbraid. It’s had great performance until that very same issue. I’m going back to spiderwire invisabraid.
I love the tournament vids!
Hello, from the coast of Central Cal... Amazing Fish!
Well done ... in stressful conditions. Even if only for trolling, have you ever considered spooling a rod with modern mono?
It’s not the worst idea to have a mono trolling set up for mackerel and also for live bait.
I fish a lot at the indian River inlet in Delaware. If anyone knows fishing tog there it is brutal on terminal gear and especially line. I used the Berkeley x5 this year and I was impressed. It held up nice.
I have seen a pretty big difference between the x4 and x8 J Braid though. The x8 for me has less failures.
Are you sure that bulk spool was genuine J-Braid? There’s a lot of counterfeit braided line out there on the internet.
What type of hooks do you recommend with the Live target Sucker Stick Bait?
I’ve had a ton of J-Braid break issues after being told how awesome it was. Guides all smooth, no other issues that seem to be the culprit. I’m de-spooling and going to try Suffix 832.
Same camp as you.
Initial casting and fishing impressions of it were very good. But I am going to stick with it as backing from now on.
I have tried most of the braid in the market including pp , jbraid & etc but i have to say suffix 832 is the best. As for daiwa the X4 is the only one i used without any problem but the diameter is a lot thicker. Tight lines .
Hey Elias, really enjoyed seeing you in southport last week. I have a question about what braid. I'm wanting to stay below 20 lb test for surf fishing. What would you suggest?
I'd go with Suffix 832 or Power Pro. Both stand the test of time for sure
Great vid like always. It looked like a hard few days. I don't know if this would help at all but Lyn is another newer line manufacturer that pigpatrol has started using might want to check em out. Later man keep em comin bro.
You did pretty good for the bad conditions .J braid has let me down in the past now it’s power pro all day
I like this format with the talking to much better. One of your best!
Love all your videos Elias!! Thanks for putting in the work. I have to ask you though... IS YOUR HOUSE HAUNTED?!?!?! At 24:15, your door closes behind you! 👻👻
Wth... At 26:46, the door opens again. 😂😂
Interesting you stick to braid even when fishing heavy structure. Im not on a kayak but when I'm fishing structure I run mono usually Momoi Diamond or if under 20lbs I'll fish Berkely ProSpec. It's excellent and cheap compared to braid. I use tons of braid, usually Fireline on spinning and Spiderwire on casting, but when it comes to structure it just doesn't keep up.
Although now that I think about it you're using what 2500-3000 size spinning reels and fishing relatively deeper water so maybe mono or flouro isn't an option because of capacity. If that's the case, try Fireline it's still going to break on heavy structure eventually but it's the best I've found.
For the type of fishing he is doing which is mainly jigging line capacity probably isn't as much of a factor as sensitivity and water resistance. Braid is much more sensitive than mono or fluorocarbon which allows you to feel the bottom and the bites much better it also sinks and is smaller diameter so it cuts through the water better allowing you to use the least amount of weight possible and have the least amount of line out while staying in contact with the bottom.
Also Elias I've used reaction tackle on structure. Last year I used my braided line on structure like rock piles brush an heavy lilly pads held up beautifully. I can probably get 1 more years worth out of it. Though I don't fish nearly as much as you Elias wish I could. I'm lucky if I get to fish once a week or once every 2 weeks an my family thinks I fish too much. I say come again I go once a week or once every 2 weeks 🤪🤪🤪. As I said if I could fish more I would. Of course when I'm on vacation I usually try to go at least twice on my vacation.
So what was your result in the tournament? Would have been nice to know how u did.
Slayer 💪🏼
I love these types of videos. But can you not tell us what place you got?!
Try Fins 40G bro! went through a lot of braids and 3 years so far its been working a treat! even in structure!
Is that PVC tube a bait well? I'd love to see some details on that and how you efficiently get bait out of it.
