    I really love this kind of vid you put out....even though, movie length...hearing your thoughts and strategy is very compelling to listen to...meaning i really enjoyed it. And the length i can live with. If you dont get the views, do it at least once a month....it's very informative, adds a different depth to your content as well. Which alot of youtubers dont do, hopefully it will take off :-) Congrates on the win. Tight lines 😎

    personally i rather see this type of fishing over "catch a big fish video" i love the catch and cooks. but tournament fishing i find very interesting, one because when it comes down to business it shows how good of a fisherman one is and also the thought process that go behind it all. so yes my vote would be to see more tournament videos!

    I used to go down to Port Aransas and fish out of Deep Sea Head Quarters for King Mackeral or I would greatly enjoy wading out into the 2nd gut out on Padre Island and free float shrimp in the surf.....that was the extent of my ocean fishing living in Nebraska. I so....so enjoyed watching you fish this tournament sir....what a fun adventure and informative!! I am disabled now, and my ocean days are over. I will so miss them. I hope you keep beating the water until you are an old man and keep enjoying it.

You got a Flounder. Day2. Trout in the boat. Day 2 is a winner... Get a good dinner, a long nights rest, and see ya tomorrow. ;;;hate to hear that about the J Braid. I have not given it a real test but bought a couple of spools. This was a great video. Really enjoy watching you because you are all about fishing.

    One of my favorite videos I’ve ever seen. I would say I fish a lot, but haven’t ever been in a tourney, and I think we share some of the same characteristics in strategy, tackle and lure selection. Btw, I’ve been fishing with cortland braid and I’m on my first spool . It was suggested to me after I asked for a braid with some abrasion resistance. I have been sliced off by blues with the 15lb and on structure, but it’s been good. I would spoil braid on another reel and see If their are any more mystery break offs. Great video!! Tight lines and Like that live target lure. Btw just got my first tog ever last night on a bridge. Thanks !

    Elias, you are a god among fisherman. You nailed it w the Fin line, waaay too expensive. I tried them all just about. Using alot of Sufix these days but just tried the Berkeley X9, really nice stuff. Used to like the western braid, very dependable but like the powerpro rough and noisy through the guides. Absolute hogs those reds, your a ringer.

    • @johnnorris1227
      @johnnorris1227 Год назад

      Ive tried just about every braided line out there and I always go back to the regular power pro. It may not be the smoothest casting or smoothest thru the guides but it holds up better than anything I've tried. I fish a combination of brackish and saltwater 4 or 5 days a week for 9-10 months out of the year so I need a line that is gonna hold up and for me that is regular power pro.

  • @johnnorris1227
    @johnnorris1227 Год назад

    I've tried a lot of different types of braid over the years and I always go back to the regular power pro as I can honestly say it's only one that has never let me down. It may not be the smoothest casting braid out there or the cheapest but it is tough stuff and just seems outlast anything else and I use it for a wide range of applications from 5,10, 15, and 20# test for ultralight and light tackle all the way up to 120# for some trolling applications.

    Elias, great video sir. I've also switched to daiwa j braid, the 8 series 30# for fluking, the 8 series 50# for plugging and the 8 series 8# for fresh water. The 30 and 50 pound hasn't given me too much trouble. I have fished rocky bottoms with snags but not structure and it seemed to hold up well against snags and such. The 8# I just put on my 2 fresh water reels and I've had multiple break offs while fighting fish through some vegetation. I've also lost a few heavier style fresh water lures on the cast. The bail didnt flip, there wasnt knots in the line, the eyes looked PERFECT but the lure went FLYING on the follow through of my cast. It didnt even make a snapping sound. I'm not sure if Daiwa had some issues with their manufacturing but I'm pretty upset with the result of this braid. I have 2 brand new spools or 300yd 30# for next season and I'm apprehensive. Best of luck with the new search for braided line. Looks like I'll be breaking the bank while testing out some new braid! Tight lines brother! Way to convert from the north east!

    You're right, jbraid is not suitable for structure, more cast distance for sure because it have a very light coat of wax and wears alot quicker but the invisibraid by spiderwire have a good coat of wax for what you do and not to stiff. Just my experience. Btw love your vids

    Interesting you stick to braid even when fishing heavy structure. Im not on a kayak but when I'm fishing structure I run mono usually Momoi Diamond or if under 20lbs I'll fish Berkely ProSpec. It's excellent and cheap compared to braid. I use tons of braid, usually Fireline on spinning and Spiderwire on casting, but when it comes to structure it just doesn't keep up.

      Although now that I think about it you're using what 2500-3000 size spinning reels and fishing relatively deeper water so maybe mono or flouro isn't an option because of capacity. If that's the case, try Fireline it's still going to break on heavy structure eventually but it's the best I've found.

      For the type of fishing he is doing which is mainly jigging line capacity probably isn't as much of a factor as sensitivity and water resistance. Braid is much more sensitive than mono or fluorocarbon which allows you to feel the bottom and the bites much better it also sinks and is smaller diameter so it cuts through the water better allowing you to use the least amount of weight possible and have the least amount of line out while staying in contact with the bottom.

    Also Elias I've used reaction tackle on structure. Last year I used my braided line on structure like rock piles brush an heavy lilly pads held up beautifully. I can probably get 1 more years worth out of it. Though I don't fish nearly as much as you Elias wish I could. I'm lucky if I get to fish once a week or once every 2 weeks an my family thinks I fish too much. I say come again I go once a week or once every 2 weeks 🤪🤪🤪. As I said if I could fish more I would. Of course when I'm on vacation I usually try to go at least twice on my vacation.

    Is that PVC tube a bait well? I'd love to see some details on that and how you efficiently get bait out of it.
