Another interesting day on the water, and in the kitchen. Any tools between a sausage grinder and a Cuisinart? Whiting and Toadfish need the grind to eliminate bones, but the other ingredients of various sizes can provide texture. Half a white onion sautéed, almost caramelized, can be ground with the fish as a binder for chopped Parsley, Red Pepper, and Green Onion. Egg is optional.

Surf fishing gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. I can't wait to kick off the year. I have heard that shad are very boney and the way people make them is to bake them for long periods of time. A way I learned from Rinella’s cookbook is to bake the bony fillets in a half cup of milk. Let it cool then you are able to break up the fish and pick out bones. Still can make the fish cakes with the pre cooked meat. I love them and make large batches then freeze the cakes individually so I can grab a couple quickly to warm up at work for lunch. Loved the kayak/surf combo. Awesome channel!🎣

I'd do lizardfish like I do carp. Steam the bony fillets till cooked through then drain any water off and crumble the meat picking out all of bones. Add crumbled meat with chopped onions and seasoned breadcrumbs and press into patties and fry. Works good with bony fish like pike or carp.

My name is George and love your channel and love learning new tricks. I have been yak fishing for 3 yrs now but have been using a paddle yak. I am upgrading to a PDL and see you use one as well. I have a question, how do you keep from dragging your drive in the shallows? Are you just mindful of the depth or did you adjust you fish finder to account for your drive depth. My choice of fishing is the marshes of NC around the Jacksonville and Swansboro region. Your help is greatly appreciated.

But then I watched your recent sheepsheads video on a kayak near a jetty (not a typical Florida structure) and striper-fishing video. If I am not mistaken, stripers are not very common in Florida unlike along the northern part of the Atlantic (Maine and all the way down). This confused me a bit about your fishing location. BTW, I read that sheepshead’s are also found Maine down. For several years, I used to fish on Cape Cod and Long Island Sound but have never seen anybody catching a sheepshead.

Try cleaning the lizard fish the way people clean lady fish and clown knife fish, with a spoon. If you fillet the fish normally and then use the spoon to get the meat off it should leave the bones on the skin. The meat will probably be mushy but you can use it for fish cakes or burgers or fish balls for soup or something along those lines.
