- If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
I may not always love you
But long as there are stars above you
You never need to doubt it
Ill make you so sure about it
God only knows what I'd be without you
Booker hears them coming and goes running like a fangirl to see them
XD im big fan of these guys even if I didn't mentioned it in the game
Call Of The Wild bung
@@Chrisiscool14 indeed
I read this as “boomer” lolololololo
Literally me everytime I drop by this area
One of the more vivid moments in a video game in recent memory. Some developers actually understand that video games are an artform
Or, at least, that they can hijack the experience of wandering into the performance of another art form. To be frank, there's no "game" to this part of the game other than paying attention to it or not. It's a scripted scene and you can't interact with it beyond observing it, so it's essentially just a virtual performance of another art form entirely.
@@MegaZeta How fucking smug did you feel after responding to a six year old comment just so you could go "Well, actually...." like a fucking pedantic loser?
@@MegaZeta This is such a fucking smug comment.
@@TheBlarggle Nice to serve a bit of joy in the world. I would tell you to have a great day but I see you are incapable of experiencing negative emotions.
@@Mr.Zoomy. How fucking right smug you are, commenting the same insult after 2 months?? I think the fucker is right. These scripted games everyone has the same experience is shit
Best moment in the game, hands down. Pure magic.
How about when you first arrive in Columbia, and the choral version of "Will the Circle be Unbroken" is playing as you go through the entrance to Columbia?
That seriously gave me chills when I heard it.
The game's voxophones explain that Albert Fink used the tears to plagiarize songs from different time periods. (God Only Knows, Girls just wanna have fun etc.) So it makes sense how songs are being used in 1912 when they weren't composed till their original time period. Anachronisms were used throughout the game, not just music but technology as well. It's these little things that make me nominate this to be GOTY, and GOTD.
One of the nicest things about this scene is that the player isn't forced to watch it. Actually, you can run past these guys and never even notice they were there. It shows how some devs sometimes do things out of pleasure, and not just to feel admired...
I stood there and enjoyed it. This was nice
This was the moment I realized that this game was pure gold. So many haters out there...I'm not quite sure why...all the Bioshock games are great. I was glad this one mixed things up a bit.
actually there were a tonne of issues with infinite and it definately didn't come together story wise as well as it could of due to the rushed release but it was still a good game
the game felt pretty rushed, but it still is my favorite story driven game in the world.
the world is so fascinating and was originally meant to be open world, but due to time constraints. They made the game very linear to get the story across.
Exactly...I kind of saw the game for what it could be and what it tried to be. I loved it.
This game is brilliant. I cannot understand why anyone complains about it.
I kinda expected booker to clap after they sang.
I totally did in his stead.
and at this point you know something's odd going on, since they're covering a 1966 song in 1912
and then again, at the beach with the "Girls just wanna have fun" played at the organ
I don't know why but this was by far my favorite part of the game. Such a small moment, but it had an impact.
Such a cool moment in the game.
I stopped and watched the whole performance the first time i played through.
The gayest moment in the game from the gayest quartet well all love.
I keep coming back to this. I can't begin to describe the feelings I felt in the first moments of this games: starting from the familiar Rapture-esque dark intro to then getting launched into the sky with beautiful scenery filled with bells and peaceful music. And then we arrive at this live performance of a barbershop quartet. I remember just awe-struck and watching them sing to the very end. I still remember the warmth I felt to this very day.
A magical piece of art thats basically just a sidenote in a game.
The irl songs and rifts gave me goosebumps this game was wayyyy ahead of its time
You know, a lot of Beach Boys songs would work as barbershop quartets..
+Eric Harsh I take it ou know nothing about the Beach Boy's musical/ lyrical structure, eh?
Brian Wilson has said that barbershop harmonies were the biggest influence on the Beach Boys vocal approach so there's a reason for that.
God I’d love to hear sloop john b in this style
They were inspired by the four freshmen who were inspired by barbershop music
Whenever anyone asks me if I've played Infinite I always respond with "oh, the game with the confusing ending and the barbershop quartet?"
wasnt that confusing at all
@@Fiery_Latina_Goatchan_GF_681 *to you
2021 and I'm here listening to this again. I remember when I came across this moment I stopped to listen. And didn't realize until they had long sailed away that I was tearing. Not for any particular reason other than emotionally this arrangement touched me. I made my decision that regardless of how I felt about the rest of the game, the moment would be one of favorite moments in any game, and I would forever respect bioshock infinite.
I remember getting to this point and going “Heyyyyyyy wait a minute, it’s like 1912!” 😄
The best breach of time space continuum to never allways happen.
Redownloaded this game last night solely to experience this bit again...pure brilliance
One of the best games I've ever played. Spent 3 entire days completely immersed in that atmosphere, didn't stop playing until I had finished it (only stopped to eat, hit the bath and sleep a bit, lol).
Bioshock Infinite: You'll cry in the credits because of a friggin' Beach Boys cover.
I admit when I first came across this I was enamored with the performance, but after looking up the song I was slightly miffed that the song came out later than the year the game was set it and thought it was a drastic oversight
It wasn’t until later I realized *that was the entire point* did I finally see how brilliant this game is
Good luck with your channel. Never gets old
The moment i knew this game was something spectacular. Standalone its an amazing rendition of an already awesome song but putting it in a game as a passing moment. Brilliant. the soundtrack to the Bioshock games is amazing
On my two runs for the platinum, I always stopped by and listened to the Quartet sing the song. I'm a big fan of the Bioshock series. Awesome game! Thanks for posting man.
I've sung with these guys. I'm not kidding. At least the lead and bass. Tim and Drew. Anyone who are familiar with last 10 years in barbershop would recognize those voices.
I have played through this game on multiple occasions and every single time I listen to the entire thing
"God only knows what I'd bee without you"
very cool addition in game
It is so clever because it adds to the world building. Players can just assume that Comstock and his men visited other universes and time periods and borrowed elements from them.
I recall walking by the area this happened, I think I went to pick up some salts and was about to continue you on when I heard the song starting, it was incredible to me as it helped build the atmosphere of the area, add the dancing couple there reminds you that they're people too, enjoying the music.
Such an amazing game I replay the series atleast once every year and own it on every console! I hope the next bioshock is as masterful as the previous ones
This freaking game makes my eyes water
"Columbia's gayest quartet!" lol
Gay in older context meant happy. Just sayin.
@@michelveilleux1275, the person who put that there probably meant it as a joke.
@Al Strider, it was a pretty popular joke in 2012...
Why is that lol
@Al Strider " Its not even funny as a joke" Actually it sorta is. Super fundamentalist uber-Christian society, with a group of men being okay with being called the "gayest" something. Sure in context it makes sense but from a modern perspective its actually a pretty funny joke and I hate how I even have to explain this...
Albert Fink was using the Tear Machine to observe other dimensions (be it future or just worlds where music just progressed differently) and then passed them off as his own creations. His Brother Jeremiah Fink the main Fink we deal with in game was doing the same but incorporating more technical and manufacturing inventions as his own that he observed in other dimensions for security and profit.
I only caught the tail end of this before they sailed away. I'm SO glad someone uploaded this masterpiece.
One of the greatest moment’s in gaming history!
It establishes Columbia as a place of great beauty before the curtain is drawn back and we see what it is really like. It's the perfect opening sequence to juxtapose the tone of the rest of the game.
_Bioshock Infinite,_ at least, made one of the best early impressions of any video game I've ever played. I was wandering around this area, ignoring the faint music I heard in the background, until I neared the quartet around *1:25**.* I still wasn't paying much attention, but something in the back of my head told me, _You haven't played this series since_ System Shock 2, _so why does this seem so familiar?_ I turned slowly toward the singers, and as I looked at them for the first time... *1:38**.* ...that made me _take notice._
There are moments in games where it just slows down and gives you a performance. This is one of those. That it is also you're first clue that something isn't QUITE right in this world (beyond the city in the sky) is also clever but something you only realize much MUCH later.
The other moment that will stick with me is when the action just slows down and you get a moment to breathe while Booker and Elizabeth perform "Will The Circle Be Unbroken"
I stop and have a listen EVERY PLAY THOUGH NO EXCEPTION!
I was just walking in the streets of Columbia and look what I found.....what do you say? Amazing huh?
This surprised me. Not as much as when "It ain't me" came literally out of thin air, but still surprised me.
I wish I could applaud them in game. Phenomenal.
The two in the middle must be Siamese twins as nobody stands like that without one hand being visible on the side or above shoulder.
Pretty sure their respective hands are resting on each other's backs, rather than their shoulders.
Maybe or Maybe Not
And if you look at the meaning it has in the context of the game it's so powerful!
masterpiece
I put my controller down and sat in stunned silence
at this part of the game.
wait hol up 2013? what? i though it was so much more recent, I feel old now
I've just finished the game yesterday, it's not that old 😂
I got to the same point in the game and just 'stood there' in complete and absolute, jaw-dropped awe. Pure magnificence. Without doubt the most intense moment I've ever had as a gamer. I hope this is the way forward in gaming life. Not only is it enthralling for the player. In real terms it opens up potential for many bands and solo musicians to make fair income directly for their art/created work through interaction online via blogs, social media and websites with game designers.
Louis/Lugh :)
I literally walked by. Only thought was "what a lovely sing voice they have."
I missed all the covers.
not gonna lie, left me speechless!
RW:they are the only npcs that never died in the game.
Its been 8 years
I really loved the holophonic audio of the game, but I was a little annoyed that if you completely turned your back to something they were essentially mute.
God only knows what i'd be without bioshock :)
That part, right after the first 'God only knows', with all the Do's, that would make an awesome ringtone!
Loved finding this in Columbia
Ah. Thank you. I didn't quite catch that when I played through it.
I love this song!!!
Love this part, best game this generation. The innovation, the originality, and ending. This and uncharted 2 were jaw dropping.
I just had to just sit and listen to this luvly song when I first heard it playing. And I did the same with the advert and the intro for that series Big Love haha, but this is by far the best version (apart from the original ofcourse).
Wow this really sets the atmosphere for the game....ahhhh yes XD
I was exactly the same, I noticed a familiar song and I just sat there for the full two minutes listening, it was awesome!
But, it's still second to the very familiar music that comes in at the end, I'll say no more to avoid spoiling it for anyone who's reading xD
I know the guys who sing this. The tenor is good friend of mine. It's a quartet called A Mighty Wind, check them out!
Yep. I've sung with the lead and bass at SMC
i dont know you but i know for sure that you stood in that place until the song ends
i actually caught myself applauding after they were done.
" POLLSHA!!! "
.-
THE TETO BROTHARS
Wait why is your health depleted?
This game didn’t even need to have a 1 bullet be fired and it still would have been great.
Peaceful blessings.
🆗🆗
Never see this in other games
Only memorable part of the game for me such a good cover
can someone please explain why songs like this and "girls just wanna have fun" are in the game?? i know that "fortunate son" is heard from a tear but what about the others??
Help me Elizabeth
Help me get her out of my heart
If you look close enough at the sign behind them you will see "columbia's gayest Quartet"
Gay used to mean happy. Theres a funfact for ya
XD
I listened to everything, but never cought that they were all covers somehow...
2:34 guy on left
Forever alone
its a beautiful song anyway but this is amazing :)
Does that literally say ‘Columbia’s gayest quartet?’ To clarify, I sang this arrangement a cappella at my mom’s celebration of life service and I’m Bi. I just never saw that before
The word gay meant something very different years ago. It was essentially used to describe something happy.
I love Jesus Christ, pumpkin pie, and CLAY HINE!!!!! 🤘🏿 and A Mighty Wind!
Couldn't find it in the soundtrack :(
I literally slow-clapped after this.
Awsome
ah gotcha
2spf (seconds per frame)
You do know that gay also means happy or cheerful?
wow
After baptism i just run to make video on Fraps =)
Always love to check in with Columbia’s gayest quartet (their words)
Video games.
Homer’s Barbershop Quartet
While the story was a little messy, it's moments like this that make up for it well enough.
Has anyone noticed that this Barbershop Quartet is the same name as Homer Simpson's?
In early demo versions (before the game was releases) the poster in the backgorund actually said "The Bee Sharps" (just like the Bee Sharps from the Simpsons). You could see the name in the upper right corner where it says "Albert Fink presents" in the retail version. :)
Oh, no, I got Fortunate Son, but that was kind of obvious. Even if I didn't love the shit out of CCR, I would have gotten it because of the part before that when you hear it through the tear.
then don't listen to it. simple as that.
A turn of the century scientist looked into the 1960s and all he stole was the music? 😄
He could have found out how to split the atom.
aaahahah I get it. my bad man. cool joke
Gawjus xx
"The world's gayest Quartet!"
